We're 11 games from the end of the season and we currently have people on the board predicting possible relegation *and* possible promotion, when the stone-cold concrete reality is that our season is over and we are going nowhere. This is football. it is dreary and drab 90% of the time. I'm not quite sure what it is but there's some commentary about the expectations of the modern football supporter in there somewhere...

It could happen. All it takes is for every team above us to stop playing at this minute and thus not collect another point. Then all we need to do is win less than five games, just four will do. If they didn't play - just looked like dull 0-0 italian footballers you mean - they would all still get 1 point per game, wouldn't they? We would have to win our games anyway.

I haven’t seen much of you lot this season but the OP does have a valid point.
You are only 10 points off 6th and everyone bar Norwich, Sheff U & Leeds are inconsistent I think.
A couple of wins on the bounce can easily start a late surge towards the top 6.
It’s not as far fetched as some would think on paper, but then again it’s weirdly the same for most teams in the division!

I really don't want us to get promotion.
Not that there is anything remotely like a choice!!!

Promotion? Don’t make me larf.
Following recent results we’re now not going down either, but promotion is absolutely out of the question.
For clarity, we happen to have won ONE game. That changes very little, if anything, about the problems at the club.

Jesus Christ. Stoke fans, ladies and gentlemen. Last week the world was ending, we were the worst team to have ever kicked a ball. This week, we beat an absolutely shite Forest team, and we're going up

Denise has us on 150-1 to be promoted, I think.
And the evidence suggests she is right more often that she is wrong. Since the opening post - and in fairness my arithmetic is not all it might be - she has earned about £450k.

I took a look at the last 5 Championship end of season tables to see what 6th place needed - 2018 Derby 75 pts 2017 Fulham 80 pts WOW 2016 Sheff Wed 74 pts 2015 Ipswich 78 pts 2014 Brighton 72 pts Average 76 pts. We have 44 so now need 32 pts to end of season. This equals no chance. Mind you; you know what will happen 10 wins and a draw and we miss by 1 pt typical Stoke Think we should look to target 66 pts = 22 pts from remaining 11 games = 2 pts a game = automatic promotion if you can do it next season.

Fat chance, wait till we lose at QPR and come back on (hope I'm wrong though).

Fat chance, wait till we lose at QPR and come back on (hope I'm wrong though). According to my overly optimistic championship prediction, "all" we need then is 10 wins in a row. But frankly, a win away at Derby (the following game) is more difficult than the one on Saturday I think.

Jesus this place oscillates worse that Boethius’s Wheel. Last week we were getting relegated!! We will end the season in a quantum state of simultaneous promotion and relegation. Or midtable.

Looking at the remaining fixtures and trying to be as fair as possible, I reckon we’ll probably ‘amass’ a further 15 points or thereabouts. Added to our current ‘haul’ of 44 points, this’ll give us 59, give-or-take. So let’s be realistic, the 150/1 offered by BET365 seems like daylight robbery to anyone foolish enough to wager any of their hard earned.

You haven't seen much of us this season! Was literally the first thing I mentioned in my post! Despite our win at the weekend, on current form we are far more likely to go down than to go up. This seasons’ is one of the worst sides I’ve ever seen at Stoke in terms of how we fail to play as a team and seemingly have no plan, quite incredible when you consider the money spent and where we were just a few seasons ago.

When you make a statement like that you really need to qualify it with over what length of time you’re talking about. Not for any dick measuring purposes you understand but simply to test whether you’re talking bollocks or not. If for example you’ve been watching Stoke since the early 70’s then you are indeed talking bollocks. There have been many Stoke teams over the last 50ish years far worse than this current one. If on the other hand you have only been watching since the mid 2000’s then your argument does have some merit as by comparison this is a poor team.

Honestly we could still have a late push, i didn’t realise until checking the league table just that we are only 10 points away, we win our next 5 games and that easily goes to 5 points at the lowest. Problem is consistency, hopefully the players turn it on for the last games and gets us playing If it's not a personal question what medication are you on?
