Looked a decent team when he came on, driving the team forward, top effort Charles

We’ve looked a more competitive team every time he’s been on the pitch , I suppose you could say more rounded

Surprise of surprises, even winning balls in the air. And, of course, his customary yellow card to top it all off. He'll never change but as original poster indicates, we do look better with him on the field .

He’d be the first name on my team sheet every week, criminally under-utilised this season until Jones came along.

Because he is the only player who looks to play the ball forward and not backwards or sideways!!!
....he's got the confidence and the ability to do so unlike Allen etc.

Some of us have been saying it all season. While the majority were still pushing the "liability" tag line.
It's nice to know that most people have finally started to understand football.

Just as Etebo is the only player we have who can drive forward with the ball too, although Edwards, took a man a couple of times today too

He has still got it as far as this division is concerned. Doubt he will be displaying it at this club next season though.

Charlie is a proper footballer. Always looks to get the ball forward, we just look a different, better team when he's on the pitch. Play him every week.

Didn't think he was as good as he had been today but still key because he's the only player we have that looks to move us forward. Should start when fit.

I think while he can’t play 90 mins it was a good idea to use to him as a sub. His range helps stretch teams and that shows even more when they are tiring. Anyone wanting him gone is a moron. We aren’t going to get someone else with his range of passing.

If the transfer team aren’t scouring world football for some raw-boned youth with the passing range of Charles, then its time to pack in.
There must be someone who we can take a chance on

Our transfer team! Good joke. And on a serious note, someone young who can pass like him would be in the premier league not in the championship.

I like a sweeping Hollywood pass, and it's good to see the ball going forward and finding a team mate. We seem to lack the players to pick it up in space between the lines, or the players to find anyone in those spaces. Good teams seem to do this a lot and it makes a difference. I think confidence could be slowly returning though, not losing is beginning to be a habit. Cue the inevitable reversion to type v QPR.

I wouldn’t be surprised (and I would agree) if the “unfit, fat t****r” who got us relegated with his penalty miss got an offer of a 12 month contract.
How vitriolic opinions change!!!

Nah, I reckon there’ll be a few unfinished articles to gamble on. 100% I think his range of passing and his accuracy is very rare. He’s been a liability at times and I think that clouds people’s judgements but if you take a step back and just watch the types of pass he’s made for us and is still making now, despite his age and being a bit on the porky side, I think we’ll struggle to get another player like him*. *well a decent transfer team would struggle,,.with ours, not a fucking chance

But he must’ve been an untried youth at Dundee at some point. I don’t think playmakers are as rare as you suggest though. Maybe we won’t need such a player going forward, but we’ve looked lots better this season when Charles has been pinging it around. Depends how Nathan takes the team

Charlie does two things for us when he plays which makes us look better
1. His vision, passing and constant looking forward to make things happen when he has the ball
2. Helps to balance and round out the team by pushing Allen forward and stopping us from having the CM filled with midfielders who are all the same type of player doing the same thing (Allen, Etebo, Woods etc)
If he was 4 or 5 years younger we'd be set

Depends how Nathan takes the team I think in a diamond you’re not supposed to need that and you’re right there are lots of playmakers like that but that range is special. Who knows maybe we’ll find a gem but for now let’s be grateful for what we have
