Watching him playing well against Spurs. We got rid of him whilst keeping an injured and hopelessly out of form Glen Johnson.Another one of Leslie's bizarre decisions,to add to the very long list.

Shouldn’t have let him go, but probably time to move on from that.

Low key one of the worst decisions Hughes made was getting rid of him. He was a bog standard Prem right back but that left him streets ahead of our other options for the role.

He used to get slaughtered on here Let’s not re write more misty eyed history He wasn't brilliant by any means. But, by the time we sold him, he was far superior to Johnson. I wish we'd have kept him - he would have done a decent job for us this season if he was still here.

I watched the Burnley Spurs game and the whole performance reminded me of how we played in the early to mid period in the Prem, to our strengths, commited, hard to beat at home and for the most part giving a shit - indeed, how we ended up beating ALL the gang of six at one time or another.......seems like a dream now....

Hughes slowly but surely removed all the character out of the team. Sure, he added skill and for a couple of seasons it worked very well whencombined with the 'grit' that was the mindset before Hughes got here but his holiday camp 'let's all go to Dubai' and never bother practising defending or corners culture has been a major factor in our dramatic decline as a team, in my opinion. Ultimately Hughes was poison.

But the real question is at what point do the 2 clowns upstairs start paying the price for over seeing cluster **** decisions like this. Over the past 4 years the have approved untold amounts of catastrophic decisions yet they happily munch away on their free wrights pies in the directors box looking down upon their accepting lemmings. Its great being able to just keep hiding behind managers whilst they have ZERO accountability. They have to go. Its just common sense.

And if it is purely nepotism that keeps Carto here then give him the role of catering director and get someone in as technical director who actually knows something about football and has some proper contacts. And I am sure he could do a crackling job on the catering side!

Hughes was trying to implement attacking wingbacks, Bardlsey did not fit the bill and during his time at Stoke never made the RB position truly his. Him and Burnley are a perfect match. Move on.

On a related matter, discussed on another thread, I see that Jon Walters has started 4 games for Burnley and Ipswich since leaving Stoke. Mickey, would you like to congratulate our 'transfer team' on stuffing Sean Dyche and Co in getting them to pay £3m, which was more than we signed him for?

Give it 3 years and people will be telling us on here how much they used to love McClean/Berahino/Clucas etc. etc. (delete where applicable, as and when they get sold) and always thought he was World class, so the club were shocking for getting rid
P.S. Re-writing of history and re0emergence of myths seem to be de rigeur on the Oatie nowadays....the only surprise on this thread so far is that no-one has tried to somehow apportion the credit for Bardsley's entire career at every club he's ever been at to Pulis ("Bardsley joined when some of TP's players were still regulars so Bards must have indirectly inherited the Pulis DNA from them" type bullshit)! That's always a staple on one of these kinds of threads....just a waiting game!

It’s all misty eyed nostalgic garbage mate Add that to players from a few years ago saying “ it wouldn’t of happened in our dressing room” Vinny jones was a figure of ridicule and was laughed at in regards a hard man when compared to those of years before, now he’s used to describe how hard they were back in his day It’s all bollocks

You're right. This does happen and it happens because our recruitment policy has become so messed up nobody including those apparently responsible for major elements of the recruitment process know what the hell is going on. Some of the players signing are decent players yet they pull on the red and white and suddenly they look like they arrived from the dog and duck Sunday football team. When is the last time we signed a young un who we transferred on for a major profit? Where are the young lads coming out of the academy? And the bigger established names we sign drop their performance 50% when they play for us. Ageing or unmotivated players on high value long term contracts. It goes on and on. Its a shit show. Recruitment is a massive massive problem and those with collective hands on the wheel need to start justifying their positions very quickly or as far as I am concerned I am going to keep blaming carto and Scholes. The managers have had their share of consequences time for others to start accounting for their roles in this demise.
