Problem with Woods in my opinion he’s technically comfortable on the football, the problem is the off the ball. He gets exposed massively and that part of his game is a massive issue with the current players

Don't think he is mobile enough, and unlike Charlie doesn't have the range of passing to make up for it. Poor tackler also, as are the majority of the side, a big weakness.

It'll be interesting to see how it goes with him in the close season. If we do decide to sell I think he's one that another club might actually want to buy - which is a bit of a rarity in our squad.
He's a neat and tidy short passer, which in a team of nimble, pacey players would be probing and classy and other positive adjectives. For us though he looks for that clever pass and sees a bunch of players standing still and staring back at him. That then shows up the things he's not good at - which is quite a long list. His long passing is nothing special and he isn't going to bring the ball forward himself very often - let alone go past an opponent. He's also knocked off the ball too easily and doesn't react quickly enough when put under pressure.
Even with those flaws he'd be a real asset in the right team - even if that isn't Stoke City 2020.

If Villa don't get promoted & Woods days at Stoke are numbered I'd take a guess that Dean Smith may still have an interest in him from his Brentford days. Villa would be a local club to him to and possibly a Whelan replacement as his contract expires this summer.

Is this the same Woods that was practically raved about when he first came here? The one we absolutely had to buy?

Is this the same Woods that was practically raved about when he first came here? The one we absolutely had to buy? After his debut at Sheffield Wednesday I was convinced he’d become a key player for us. How it’s unravelled so quickly I don’t know but there is definitely a player in there. Feel he just needs the right players ahead of him moving and wanting the ball.

Always thought he would be good as the deep-lying playmaker in a team where a genuine No. 10 or a quick, mobile, striker was regularly finding space and calling for the ball. Rowett seemed to want him to play like a lightweight Lee Cattermole!
Would love to see an on-form Woods and Bojan in the same team, but that seems like wishful thinking at the moment.

Based on his form at Brentford he is a very sellable asset, as long as we are not paying crazy money I think we'll find a buyer in the summer.
If not I feel there is more to come from him but the fitness hasn't been good enough when I've seen him

A nice bit of football to set Campbell on his way, for the goal v Leeds . He wins the ball and has a couple of looks around, before playing it , to make sure he is not about to lose the ball , as well as to see what's on. He is a proper footballer ,but he just seems naturally more suited to a 3-5-2 than a diamond , where his strength and pace on the ball ( not his forte ), seems to matter less .

Trouble is a lot of the time he has a look around to see if he is about to lose the ball, then thinks "shit I'm about to lose the ball", then loses the ball.

Totally one footed...a massive weakness I suppose that is still better than the no footed approach Joe Allen has been going for as of late.
