They need to introduce relegation and get rid of Italy, they offer nothing and haven't improved. Have a 'Division 2' and give Georgia a go

Have a 'Division 2' and give Georgia a go I just couldn't be bothered to watch Wales stuff Italy again today - 42-0 was to be expected. As you say Italy haven't really improved at all, they are still the whipping boys every season. I don't know if replacing them with Georgia would improve things. Italy would probably get even worse, and Georgia would just be another Italy even though they are a bit more aggressive and resolute. I enjoyed the Ireland - Scotland game, much more of a proper game. I'm rather apprehensive about England in France tomorrow. The "new look" France seem to be faster, fitter, much more flair, and really up for it, whereas England could well be caught on a downer following the World Cup final mauling by SA. Hopefully Eddie will have them fully firing by game time. If England can't win it this year, I hope to goodness Wales don't.

Have a 'Division 2' and give Georgia a go Before Italy got the nod Romania were always a decent outfit It needs a second division with relegation even if it means one of the other 5 getting it one year It could well work and hopefully improve the standard but I can't really see any "Division 2" team having enough to finish 5th in "Division 1" with the big boys. The relegation place would nearly always be between that season's promoted team and (usually) Scotland. It would certainly introduce more interest and ensure 5th and 6th placed teams had something to play for right through the 6 Nations. Maybe a play-off between 5th and 6th with the loser playing the top team in Div 2 ? Or just a straight relegation and promotion would be better and would fit in with domestic league programmes better as well.

It could do with being less of a closed shop, Italy are regressing if anything and offer nothing. Romania used to be reasonable, because they were getting test matches against Tier One countries.

Dreadful start and you can tell Shaun Edwards is working with the French in their defensive set up

Woeful first half from England - nothing went right, we lacked any sort of attacking cohesion, our defence was awful, lots of unforced errors, and poor scrummaging. France weren't that good but England's "performance" gave them the game. Second half was a big improvement and we dominated the scrums. In the end our revival was too little too late and France deserved to win.
Lots to think about for Eddie, and hopefully put right, before the next game.
Looks like it's Wales or Ireland for the title even after one game.

I thought Italy competed well against wales, the scoreline flattered the welsh. Italy had a lot of possession and carried the ball for far more yards, but they kept conceding penalties every time they got into the welsh 22. I'm backing them with the handicap to give somebody a scare in their homes games.

That result ought to keep the locals quiet for a little while.

Horrendous conditions saw the teams favour the kicking game - certainly not a classic Calcutta Cup game but England managed to get the win.
The next round of fixtures look interesting, Wales v France on 22nd Feb, and then England v Ireland looks to be a massive game on 23rd Feb.
