Awesome servant to our club and what a contribution he has made to Stoke City FC over the course of his time with us on & off the pitch. My 2x young girls are totally gutted he's moved on as am I. Perhaps it was the right time for a fresh start & one last bash at the top table for him but guessing it is a measure of the guy that he's held in such high esteem by not only our fan base, but also football fans in general. Quick story of Crouch I'd like to share that kind of sum's the guy up. I've couriored for quite a few away games over the years on the official coaches and often get chatting to the coach drivers to pass the time. 2x different coach driver's have told me that on occasions when they've driven the offical players coach the player's usually stream on to the coach with their headphones on and hardly ever communicate in any way with them! But these guys told me that Crouch always makes a point of climbing on board, introducing himself to the driver (Who doesn't know who Crouch is?!), shaking hands and thanking them for driving. Probably incidental as a one off but for two coach drivers to mention Crouchie doing the same thing shows how despite his status & lifestyle Crouch is unique from the typical footballer these days in that he is a one off who I really think deserves Legendary status at our club. My two sons are also gutted. Glad they got to meet him and him sign their shirts in the summer at the open day. We (sadly) live in the West Midlands and having a player like Crouch known and loved throughout the World play for their club meant that no matter how shit we have become they could point to him and hold their heads up high. Forgetting whether it was the right football decision (it was), he'll be a massive loss as a player and representative of our club. Thanks for everything Crouchie.

Very sad to see Crouchie go but good luck to him adding to his Prem goals tally. Legend is very overused but not for him as his benefit to SCFC goes way beyond his on pitch activities. He significantly raised the profile of the club. Wherever I used to travel overseas on business a chat with a taxi driver or a barman about football in some far flung part of Asia or South America and I would mention Stoke the first response was Peter Crouch! One of the few hugely likeable good guys in football (and here are sadly too few) I hope after he retires he stays in the game in a role that benefits football. It would be very easy for him to pursue media career and emulate Lineker who has given nothing back to the game while making himself very wealthy. I really hope he sees his future in coaching or management.

Pundetry beckons. Very proud to have have been a supporter of a club which Peter has given so much to. Sad loss but he needs to move on, hope he gives us a higher profile when he is on the telly.

All the best for your future Peter, it has been a pleasure to have you on board. I think it's fair to say you will always be remembered fondly in Stoke City history. A genuine man and player, we will miss you.

I'm slightly surprised as Crouchy is so media savvy that (unless I've missed it) he hasn't posted a goodbye message to the Stoke fans. It seems most high profile players do it nowadays and Crouchy is one of the best known and most liked players in the game and he has been one of ours for so long.
Not saying he should but I just thought he would have done it

I had to sit my seven year old nephew down to tell him. He was upset but in the end concluded that "I'll always have my shirt he signed, I'll always have my picture I had with him and he'll always be on my mind even if he's not in the team" bless!

I was so-hoping that Crouchy moved onto a coaching role with us when he hung his boots-up...... he is the one of the games true professionals with a heart of gold.
Imagine what he could have done with aspiring youngsters and fledgling signings - they would love to play for him.
Best of luck big-un, really hope to see you again soon.

At the time, I thought Palacios was the best part of THAT transfer deal; it just goes to show what I know!! It's been an absolute pleasure to have seen someone like Peter Crouch wear the red and white of Stoke City; a genuine bloke on and off the pitch, and who could ever forget his goal against Man City!!?? Good luck, Peter...ā¦.and thank you

In this age when so few footballers appear to be truly decent people, Crouchie shines like a beacon amongst them. Great guy, well always look back on his time with us with many great moments. Thanks big fella, welcome back any time.

Magic man on and off the pitch! As unlikely looking footballer as we are ever likely to see - those beanpole legs without muscle ! Scorer of so many ungainly goals and yet the scorer of the object of beauty that was THAT goal against Man C Ambassador, gentleman, and master of all snide trickery in the box. WE thank you, Crouchy, for so many memories. That is so beautifully put - including the snide trickery, vital part of every great striker's armoury Can we have a special gathering of Crouchy tall mug owners to toast the great man?
