www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/stokes-scott-mckenna-bid-rejected-13929923Aberdeen are bracing themselves for another raid on Scott McKenna after the Dons booted out an offer from Stoke City for the Scotland star. It’s understood the English Championship side lodged a bid of less than £5million for the centre-back two weeks ago which was immediately knocked back.
Aberdeen have heard nothing since from Stoke who later signed Danny Batth from Wolves for £3m. Although the Bet365 Stadium outfit are unlikely to come back in for the 22-year-old, Pittodrie chiefs expect other clubs to attempt to lure him south. Oh.
That's somewhat disappointing.
£3m is "less than £5million".
Nobody is telling me we only had £3m and were forced to then go and spend it on Batth instead.

He was a strong dominating player who was very difficult to beat and a favourite of mine. He was eventually replaced by Ron Andrews whom I also rated highly and was very surprised he did not have a better career.

I have to admit that I have never heard of him or even which era he played in .

I know the very basics of what happened, but it seems that it’s been swept under the carpet and it rarely gets mentioned ?

Most banned for life. Would not say it has been swept under the carpet, more likely it's not mentioned as many/most of the participants and others involved in the investigation are now either in old age or dead. After all, it's over 50 years since it happened. More details on Wikipedia, of course!!

Yet now we have multi millionaire players who are “bored”and openly contravene the FA rules regarding betting on football, and what do they get a rap on the knuckles and a fine ? We have just loaned a player to a club whose manager is a notorious gambling addict who seems to laugh at the authorities.

I'm not pretending I'm the oracle on Scottish football but just to say, having seen him for club and country, he is definitely quick and strong. All I would say is he needs coaching on positioning and game intelligence, for instance he got caught out of position against the mighty stenhousemuir recently and lost their man when they scored a shock equaliser at pittodrie in the cup He'll fit in well with our current crop then.

I was thinking this. The weather forecast keeps changing but its meant to bad again now. Be typical if the snow fucks up deadline day. Latest forecast saying it won't come as far as Manchester airport. If we've bid, who knows, he may be down here already ..... Probably staying at stoke HQ....harvester

It's only a hamstring injury though. If we've got opportunity to sign him now you take it if he's the man Jones wants.

Well I guess it’s safe to say that Jones doesn’t rate the defenders he currently has at his disposal, to say the very least.
Spending close to £10 Million on two CB’s in one window also shows that the board, for all their knockers, are again backing their man.
I’d happily let BMI go this window if this is done in time. He’s been rubbish. Shawcross won’t be going anywhere.

I don't trust any of them.
