How the hell has anyone taken a punt on that spineless and gutless waste of space who masquerades as a part time footballer and full time wanker ?
Amazing

For all the attitude problems if Adam had let him take the penalty against brighton we would most likely still be a premier league club.

For all the attitude problems if Adam had let him take the penalty against brighton we would most likely still be a premier league club. It went Stoke-Brighton 1-1. We had 33 points, gd -33. With a win, 35 points. Southampton above relegation got 36 points, gd -19. So even if we'd won vs Brighton - Adam / Jese / Butland had scored, we were 2 points short.

For all the attitude problems if Adam had let him take the penalty against brighton we would most likely still be a premier league club. Adam had never missed a penalty for us. If Jesé hadn’t kicked off like some deranged psycho then maybe Charlie would have had a bit more focus to do what he’d always done and put the penalty away.

I’m not sure if you were at the match, but anyone who was there would remember the reaction of the players and supporters when the penalty was missed. There was a realisation that we were up the creek. It was like we just couldn’t win, no matter what happened. If Charlie had scored, the whole mood around the club would have been massively different. There would have been a belief that we could do it. Everyone would have been lifted. I’m convinced we’d have stayed up if that penalty had gone in.

I agree. That miss was the cornerstone of relegation. And Jese’s selfishness was symbolic of all our problems boiled into one moment.

A jammy home win and we would have got some of the Bournemouth shit out of our system. So yeah it was big sad moment

Think Hughes saw another diminutive one-tine wunderkind who'd played for a Spanish giant but had fallen on hard times and thought he could work the same magic.
Unfortunately he turned out to be the Anti-Bojan.

Given that he had never taken a penalty for Stoke before and has only ever scored 18 top flight goals in his entire career as a "striker" to date there's not a lot to suggest he was actually a better bet for the pen than Charlie.
