It doesn’t work like that. I’m not sure if you were at the match, but anyone who was there would remember the reaction of the players and supporters when the penalty was missed. There was a realisation that we were up the creek. It was like we just couldn’t win, no matter what happened. If Charlie had scored, the whole mood around the club would have been massively different. There would have been a belief that we could do it. Everyone would have been lifted. I’m convinced we’d have stayed up if that penalty had gone in. The point made by the poster wasn't whether Charlie had scored it was that if he had let Jese take the penalty he would have scored. Given that he had never taken a penalty for Stoke before and has only ever scored 18 top flight goals in his entire career as a "striker" to date there's not a lot to suggest he was actually a better bet for the pen than Charlie. I'd already responded to that point in the post directly before the one you quoted. 😊
