www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6642143/Stoke-make-9m-bid-Sam-Vokes-Sean-Dyche-remained-coy-future-Burnley-striker.htmlStoke City have launched a £9million bid for Burnley striker Sam Vokes as they look to land the Wales international before the transfer deadline, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club. Interesting that Jones says that's one of the 2 areas (along with defence) they're in the market for next week. Says we've got a lot that want to get in behind, but we need another type. Hints at interest in Austin? www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p06y6t2wJones interview about 22 minutes in... Are you near to any moves in or out?At the minute, we're nearer than we were a week ago. But it's a tough window. We've enquired about a few players. So hopefully if we can get those over the line, all well and good. If we can't, then we'll just make sure we improve what we have Any areas you're specifically looking at?Well, we know those. We know the areas we need to improve. Defensively we need to be better - so we'd like to bring in some kind of defensive improvement. And we know we need a real focal point up front. So we've been active in certain things. It'd be wrong to say any names. But we have too many of the same kind of striker - quick ones that want to go in beyond. We need a bit of nous up there, someone who is going to give us a platform. That's what we lack at the minute. And going out?Well, it's a fact the numbers are too big at the minute. So to add more to 'em without any going out is difficult. It just compounds the problem that we have. We're actively trying to add to the squad, streamline it, add quality to it and hopefully we can in the coming days. So watch this space?Obviously, yeah....

Hints at interest in Austin? We might have a lot who want get in behind, the problem is we can’t play that way to give them the chance.

Blakeman has said "we're hearing they're very close to bringing in a striker"
Has he mentioned this earlier?

He's got a massive job on his hands. Let's assume the diamond, that's he's worryingly ditched very quickly, is what he wants to play. That means he needs
Two centre half's. Two full backs An energetic midfielder Someone to play the top of the diamond A target man.
He then needs to lose:
Bauer Shawcross Williams Pieters Tymon Bojan McLean Clucas Berahino Crouch Fletcher
And then
Allen, Ince and Butland are going to want to leave.
It's shite.

Someone tell Mr Jones we have just conceded 2 at home to 16th place p.n.e. The answer is not Charlie Austin, the answer is a new defence.

We need players all over the park. Above all else we need characters.
Every single one of them to a man chucked each other under the bus today, a week after going all out to beat Leeds, they chuck in a performance like that?
They are a bunch of heartless, gutless cheats.

It's true what he said, Campbell and Afobe (and Berahino but it seems NJ won't tolerate his shithousing) are the same type of player.
Afobe's head seems to have completely gone however, lacking in confidence and drive, seems like he's regretting the move going off his body language.

He hasn’t abandoned the diamond. He went to it today when Tymon went off. Allen was at the point of it. Clucas and Etebo either side. One problem was expecting BMI to do the running needed from a full-back in that system. Yet everything was channelled down our left for some reason.

If Austin is unrealistic, or too rich for us in terms of contract and fee for a soon-to-be 30-year-old, can anyone think of any others that fir this type of description?
Jones must have a good knowledge of any League 1 players of this type who could step up?
It'd be interesting to know who we've got our eyes on
