Was the defeat of Leeds in 1974 more, or less, significant than today’s win? Which did you enjoy more? d.

I was there at the 74 game.
Leeds were all conquering at the time and it was the old first division.
I was a kid but the game is one of my best ever memories of being at a football match. I was literally swept off my feet and ended up several yards from where I was originally standing when the winner went in.
We were amazing that day, and there is no comparison to the current team, division, or level of importance.
I still love my club but as good as today’s result was, it’s significance is just not the same.
This season has been utter dog shit, but hopefully we have turned a corner with Nathan Jones. He needs time , but I have a really good feeling that at last we have the right man to drive us forward.

74 was huge not even close. Not to mention the bragging rights at school from the gloryhunting Leeds knobs with tassels in their socks.
Both of those teams will forever remain legendary. This was a good day but even close.

I was at both Today was better because I wasn’t a young lad so I could get pissed after it I was there too. Too bad I had to watch from the sofa. The 74 win was fantastic, but so was this and potentially more important.

Today will be forgotten by this time next year.

‘74 was more significant for Leeds. Today was potentially more significant for us, but I’d hazard a guess that in 45 years, it won’t be looked back on with the same sense of history as the ‘74 match is today. Leeds supporters will have forgotten about it in two or three weeks.

2-0 down . Won 3-2 I was there First goal was a cheat of an effort from Bremner. They also had a goal disallowed that would have made it 3-0.

74 by a country mile. Leeds long unbeaten run,2 goals up,but still couldn't handle Stoke that day.

In a small country town in southern nsw (albury) with a local paper that rarely mentioned any first division football...it made the sports pages. I was very proud going to school that day. To me, it meant we could compete with the big boys...and we did for a while.

Missed the 74 game due to my cousin getting married the same day never forgiven him but today we there together but never forgiven him ! That type of behaviour is still quite common today and needs to be stamped out. I would like to see Parliament pass "The Matrimonial Practices (Football Season) Act" which would simply make it illegal to get married in the football season.

I was also there Leeds were such a high profile club filled with household names and to end their unbeaten run was both remarkable and unexpected. Yesterday’s result was very good but unlike 1974 it will not be reported in the national TV and news media.

I went to both games but there really is no comparison.
Yesterday the overwhelming sense at the end of the game was one of relief..
In 1974 it was one of supreme Victory at breaking Leeds unbeaten run.
Although I sang more yesterday.

It's all relevant to timing. I was there in 74. I was there today with my daughters and granddaughter. They will never forget the feeling of yesterdays match. I will never forget both matches..... Which is the most inportant?
For me "Now" is always more important.

Yesterday was fantastic. But 1974 was even more so. There are similar feelings, in that I feel yesterday was the beginning of a new era at our club. Back in 1974 that was how I felt. I think (Memory Creaking!) That after Hudson joined we went from 5th bottom to end up 5th top. And the Leeds victory was one that gave us great belief. Bear in mind, they were the best team in the country by a mile then, and walked the league. This Leeds team will, imo, end up in the play off, so they're good, but not outstanding.
All that said, we now seem to have an outstanding coach who is passionate about the club and I've not felt this hopeful for the future since we had that purple patch at Crimbo 2015, and hopefully this will be a little longer lasting 😊

Was the defeat of Leeds in 1974 more, or less, significant than today’s win? Which did you enjoy more? d. Today was absolutely more important to me as I in -74 didn't have the same relationship to the club. It was around that time, or a bit later, I became a Stoke supporter and since then it's grown into proportions that isn't healthy at times. I must admit I spend way too much time thinking about, reading about and watching Stoke City FC. It actually has become like some sort of religion, and as I say it might occupy a too big part of my life. I can't help it though.

Waddo’s back flip in his brown suit in front of the Boothen - way more impressive than Nathan’s muted response at the end!

Yesterday’s win was massive for us but 74 was bigger. Leeds were the darling team, the glory boys, and we stopped them in their tracks.

If I recall leedsa were winning and either bremner or one of their players did something which incensed the stoke players and the home crowd. Dare I say they cheated on the pitch? Similarly they are currently accused of cheating with spygate and there is a wave of anti Leeds feeling. So in a way history for stoke repeating itself. Others may remember that iconic moment in the game that “turned” the game

I'm happy with any win. But how can you compare today with 74. All conquering Leeds side, 2 nil down , after gamesmanship by Leeds, for which they were infamous. Made headlines around the world.
