If I was him I would jump at the chance to join Forrest, because he sure doesn't fit into any system we have tried to play here.

His little cameo on Tuesday was atrocious. Including missing a sitter. Well it should have been a sitter if he had a touch and could kick with his right.

Thank fuck O'Neill don't rock up here then. McClean would be first on the team sheet.

I'm a really fair person, listen to reasoned argument even if I don't agree, but I do have a strong opinion of McLean,it goes a little something like this "whatever it takes, whoever will have him at any price, get the bottom feeding, supine, idiot who has the brains of a lobotomized donkey spawn from Satan's rectum out of my club"

How much do we have to pay them to take him?😂
I reckon if we all chuck in a couple of quid we can hire a personal chauffeur to get him there tonight.

After rumours of O niel wanting McClean, its realy made me question whether we should keep him. Obviously a lot of fans say how terrible he is, but is that because of his genuine football ability or because they just don’t like him. Obviously he hasn’t got the greatest skill set in the world, but either has most players in this team, and what he brings is effort nearly none of our players have, and tbh he is a decent footballer whether people want to admit it or not. Just wanted to see what other people think about this because I really think people call him a shit footballer because they simply just don’t like him, but personally I think he brings more to the team by having him rather than getting rid. I think you are right. He simply couldn't have played over 200 games in the top 2 leagues of English football, the majority in the Premier League, and a successful and experienced manager like Martin O'Neill wouldn't be interested in buying him, if he was even as remotely poor as some posters say, however strong and abusive the language used. I think you are also right about the reasons for that. I think his form has been mixed this season, and he's certainly not alone in that, but he has had some good games and some assists, including making both goals at Villa Park for example. The new manager will make his assessment about how well he would fit into the style of play the manager wants to introduce. I always like players who show commitment and effort as well as ability, so if he does leave, I wish him well, apart from when he plays against us.

All about what he does on the pitch for me. I think his decision to not wear a poppy is fair enough considering his background. Never bothered me in the slightest and there’s plenty of evidence to suggest he’s a good bloke e.g. charity work. Can understand why some would take offence but I personally don’t. I don’t like him because he’s fucking hopeless at football. Gets the ball, head down, sprints in a straight line towards the by line and kicks the ball hopefully towards the box. Completely lacking in footballing skill and intelligence and painful to watch. He’s also a thug and his constant abuse of the refs when he fucks up is embarrassing. I also don’t believe for a second that the effort he gives to the team is anything particularly unusual. He’s cost us goals by not bothering to follow his man a few times this season.

To be honest I've warmed to MacLean when he's played well he's been an asset: Forest and Villa away especially. However when he is off form he is very poor indeed. Factor in Jones wants to play with a diamond and it's best he moves on.

he needs to go, the negativity and baggage that he brings needs banishing from this club. He is also a very limited footballer and is only in decline. Effort yes, quality definately not. Snap their hands off

His decision making is beyond words, I really can't understand how it's possible for a mature footballer!

The question is, where does he fit into the new man's system, which is a very specific, narrow diamond? Reading into his time at Luton, he has either got rid of wingers or turned them into a number 10, wider central midfielder or attacking full back. My question is, outside of his tremendous engine, has he got the football nous to play as a number 10 or wider central midfielder? At an absolute push, he could play as an attacking full back, but even then it's based purely on his engine rather than ability. To me, he's an up and down winger with an iffy end product. I don't see a future for him here under our new manager. Working under O'Neill would be a great move for him.

He’s not had a bad career but he’s done, even still, some halfwit at Stoke decided it’d be good to tie him to the wage bill until he’s 33 🤔
Get rid. He’s no loss.

If you read the Oatcake O'Neil I would like to go on record to say, McLean is the best winger in the division, outstanding player who we would hate to leave. He is that good and valuable to us it's going to take a big offer for you to take him off our hands. The fans will mourn his loss for years!
