Shane Warne's best figures in his legendary career were 8-71 against England. Roston Chase has taken 8-60 today. ... wow, let that sink in. Not sure what stank the place out more, England’s performance or Stoke today? Both equally abject and embarrassing, unfortunately.

Does Jennings have to play as we've got no-one else who can realistically open for us or can we deservedly drop him ? Root or Bairstow could open but you’re not solving the top issue order just juggling the problem around.... Exactly....there is no obvious solution that I can see but Jennings clearly isn't up to the job.

Joe Denley an option?! is he out there? Yes he's carrying the drinks at the moment but can't do any worse, extra spin option as well.....

Agree, that said the likes of Bairstow and Root need to have a look at their batting performances as well......

Bairstow is never a #3 and tbh, I'd be tempted to push him down the order to where Ali is if he's dropped. Root frustrates the life out of me.

His shot today when we were looking quite comfortable at 3 down was utterly pathetic.....

Root confirms Denly will open in place of Jennings and Brioaf will replace Rashid.
Denly Burns Bairstow Root Stokes Butler Moeen Foakes Curran Broad Anderson

Positive moves moves which will hopefully improve the team and performance with bat and ball. Frustrating that Moeen's still there though.

I suspect both Leach and Moeen will play with Foakes missing out. Burns Denly Bairstow Root Stokes Butler Ali Curran Broad Leach Anderson I'd much rather have Woakes in at 8 ahead of Curran though. And in the long run when we play 1 spinner, Leach keeps his place and Foakes returns.

Another day, another batting masterclass!
We should just start every innings at 30/3 and be done with it.....

West Indies always seem to raise their game against us for whatever reason. Holder's bagged 2 match winning hundreds against us now in the last two tours.
It's very disappointing, I don't personally buy the argument put forward by some pundits that this West Indies side is any better than what they've had for the last decade or so. That said, Holder himself is a fantastic captain and all round decent chap.
We're just a shambles. Joe Denly, 200 first class matches and he's playing that shot?

Cracking start after lunch by England. FFS..... Incredible isn't it. All down to Super Mo now. If he does manage something, it will be worth watching.

According to reports it was a lively pitch with "first day demons" reducing England to 34-3 after 15.1 overs. Moeen top scoring with 60, ironic due to our pre-match comments about him !
Windies are 30-0 after 21 overs in reply !

Windies are 30-0 after 21 overs in reply ! The main thing for Moeen is he needs to be a front line spinner. We know he can bat - a bit. But he is at best a #6. And we've already got one of them in Ben Stokes. So, his performance with the bat (notwithstanding him top scoring) does not justify his position in the team. What he does with the ball is what counts

106-1
England have bowled some good stuff and the Windies are riding their luck.
But
We are in big trouble if we concede a three figure first innings lead. I don't have much optimism that our batsmen will cope with the Windee quicks any better second time round than they did first up. Another big defeat is looming unless we pick up wickets quickly.
