Was it as positive as this? I wasn’t that active here when Rowett was signed as Manager, so were we as positive about our chances as were are with Super NJ?

Significantly underwhelmed and apprehensive about Lambo, and fairly ambivalent toward Rowett if memory serves.

This is the most excited about a manager (pre first game I stress) that I’ve ever been in 50 years a Stoke fan......strange but true.

Lambo hated being called Lambo
Pulis and Hughes hate being grouped together for their SCFC premiership tenure as "Pughes"

Hughes was seen as an unpopular appointment but won most over with his introductory press conference. Lambert was seen as a bizarre appointment but won a lot over with his introductory press conference. Rowett was seen as a necessary appointment and won a lot over with his introductory press conference. Nobody had heard of Jones, but since his introductory press conference I can only describe him as ‘wonderful’.

The second-coming of Pulis was as dark a day for me football wise as I can ever remember. Fair plays, you can’t argue against his achievements which were fantastic, but man, his reappointment seriously messed with my head.

I remember my immediate thoughts regarding Lambert, was that was it we were down, and so it was.
Truly awful appointment.

There hasn't been a reaction this positive to a new manager since the Oatcake forum was invented 20 years ago. BM The reaction to Steve Cotterill was pretty positive. Young up and coming manager from the lower leagues..... I was a near lone voice of negativity. Spotted his flawed character traits within 5 minutes and he didn't disappoint did he? Given what's happened during the last few years at our club the positivity is probably more indicative of the fact that we are prepared to clutch at any straw available.

I do seem to remember the reaction to Gudjon's appointment was very positive?
Mind you, the Icelanders were making him out to be a Nordic Guardiola.

Nobody foresaw Pulis achieving what he did with Stoke which makes you wonder how significant the Coates influence was. One thing is for sure though - for two decades he's been a first class twat. People rarely change.

I'm kind of hoping brentford on Saturday will be like wycombe that night. Everything that's been said about Jones anyone would think hes the 2nd coming of Guardiola.

The reaction to Gudjon was certainly positive; but I think it was slightly tainted by the perceived treatment of Megson. This Jones reaction is off the scale! Zero matches played and yet the most popular boss since Macari! ;-) I guess it could all unravel over time though.

Definately not - I am liking everything I've read, seen and heard so far on Mr Jones and think it could be an absolutely inspired appointment. He will have my full support no matter what happens this season - this could prove to be the proper transition we've been looking for......

I’ll hazard a guess at 24. Christ. I was a lurker back then in the fenetre days. My pc wouldn't refresh the board unless I posted so I created a username T and just posted the letter T to refresh. Then other posters thought it was some code or MI5 watching the board for some dark purposes.

Rowett was seen as a necessary appointment and won a lot over with his introductory press conference. I know you're being somewhat funny, but I disagree strongly. Rowett alienated a lot of Stoke supporters with his first few press statements, and I don't think he ever really got back on track, though his arrogance and self-love probably kept him immune for a while to the resentment he caused and attracted. Then it got worse and even worse, and eventually there was no way out of it but to get rid.
