I think they're all quite different circumstances.
-Lambert We had been dreadful for months and we bring in a man to save the day who had no track record and was truly dour in interviews. Hardly going to whip up too much of a storm.
-Rowett We had just been relegated, tipped to storm the league and we appoint a pretty spiky bloke who failed to get Derby up and appeared a little to smug to warm to. Hardly a good time for us to be in high spirits and bringing in a bloke with limited experience, albeit done fine in the championship.
-Jones We're hugely underachieving and need to start again from top to bottom. He seems like a bloke with a good work ethic and good philosophy. His very limited CV is good, and he's overachieved with Luton.
So I guess, of the 3, Jones seems to be more of a positive reaction - but the bar was set very low.

Rowett was seen as a necessary appointment and won a lot over with his introductory press conference. I know you're being somewhat funny, but I disagree strongly. Rowett alienated a lot of Stoke supporters with his first few press statements, and I don't think he ever really got back on track, though his arrogance and self-love probably kept him immune for a while to the resentment he caused and attracted. Then it got worse and even worse, and eventually there was no way out of it but to get rid. The post was partly for comic effect, but was largely about how the introductory press conference usually goes down a storm, but has little bearing on what happens after. Rowett's opening press conference went down very well. It was after the first friendly where he appeared miffed at the singing of Bojan's name that it started going downhill.

How would you feel if Forest get Jakanovic?

How would you feel if Forest get Jakanovic? I'd be curious as to why he fancied them but not us, but I'm happy with the new manager we have at this stage.

Agree just putting it out there though because it would come back to be discussed if he does end up there? Dependent on performance? Come on Nathan!

Rowett's opening press conference went down very well. Not with me, but I even hated that Rowett was appointed. I've never in my life been so opposed to any authority figure. i suppose you could say I never gave him a fair chance, but he confirmed my reservations with glowing references.

That's why I said "won a lot over." Plenty of scope to cover the numerous individuals who that didn't apply to. I still think a majority were won over, if only for a few days before some of his more unsavoury characteristics came to the fore.

The problem with the love in he's got further to fall if it goes wrong.
I'm not so much bothered by the reception as to whether he'll be shown patience if he struggles to find his feet. One or two bad games and I thought no he'll be in for the usual treatment.
I hope we stick by him even if we do get relegated. We need a long term project not a lurch from one desperate decision to another.
