The money is for the board to sort, I just feel happy that after only thumping the irons on his shirt a few months ago he again has his head turned by the wonga. Knew he wouldn't last long at west ham, when the ambition run out there he would get itchy feet. The mans a tosser end of. I don't understand why you think he is a tosser. He gets wind of an opportunity to jump up approximately 100,000 quid a week and then asks for permission to take the opportumity. Everyone is then amazed that he is less than happy that he is being denied the opportunity to earn an extra 20 Million quid for his family. I'd be bloody upset too.

Word is from my West Ham contact tha Arnie has massive gambling debts and I mean massive!! So trotting off to a monthly salary of 450,000 will help him get over this ! Matty came to us and was rehabilitated, arnie is going to a country where gambling is huge. The good old "geographical cure".

Any alleged gambling debts are low down on the list of Arnie’s problems. The bloke is an Uber Cunt. I was raised on Banks, Greenhoff, Smith, Bloor etc and Arnie is filth if ever anyone dared to compare him to those.

He stands to triple if not quadruple his wage, why feel the need to bleat about ambition as his reason for leaving stoke, its clear he went for the money, if he was full of such ambition with west ham climbing to 7th in the table he would be staying for more than 12 months. He has had his head turned by money, I dont see the Chinese super league as ambition I see it as lots of money to he earned in a such space of time. If he hasn't got alleged astronomic gambling debts then I'm sure arnie and his family can live very comfortably for the rest of his life. He looks extremely unhappy at the moment and anyone who has left stoke and our course when they have seeked more money to me is a tosser. I guess I'm a little bitter about things especially when I just wish they would come out and say I'm going for the money, not ambition or better league, good old hard cash.

Where was the mention of fulfilling a 4 year contract in the quoted post? Do 100k per week extra wages over 4 years to get to the extra £20m for your family mentioned in the original post

In many ways, trying to earn as much as you can while you can is a very good measure of ambition. What's the point of earning 5p a week and being the superstar/hero scoring 20 goals a week when you could be earning 192,000 quid a week sitting on the bench? I think the latter has more ambition than the former.

Then he does even better by getting an additional signing fee and probably a bigger salary. I'd do exactly the same. He didn't invent the system, he's merely using it to his advantage. Now if you want to talk about how to fix the system, that's a different topic!

I read in todays paper (mirror?) that he won't be in todays squad because his "head isn't in the right place" and he doesn't want to let his team mates down. I make no apologies for finding this pretty poor behaviour - I fully expect he'll still bank his wages
Grow a pair and be professional you petulant child! We all change jobs, for many reasons, but you signed a contract and are happy to take the money so make the freeking effort! WHU will do well, why not try to leave on a high?
Sorta glad he isn't at Stoke - crap, selfish attitude.
I'll now go and take some deep breaths ...

But again, as unpalatable as this appears, if you're days away from securing a deal that's going to make you richer than in your wildest dreams, why would you risk an injury that could scupper that? I totally agree that he shouldn't collect any wage from West Ham while the current situation remains in place.

I think we are in agreement - If I didn't want to risk the move, I wouldn't take the money. TBF - it may already be happening behind the scenes, though my instincts tell me Arnie and his brother operate with slightly different morals!

Why the change of opinion Kurt? You defended him previously when he did to Stoke what he's now doing to West Ham. I thought he was right when he meant that West Ham shows more ambition - at Stoke many things went down, and the owners of West Ham has shown much ambition this summer, by spending more than 100 Mio in good new players. But what he has done now at West Ham in recent days, ist a testimonial of a real bad character. At the end: i have been wrong an you were right.

I wasn't trying to prove anyone right or wrong, and I appreciate your honest answer. In any case, if you look at my posting history, I've probably been a lot less critical of Arnie than most. I loved watching him at Stoke and even after everything that's happened I find it difficult to really hate him.

To be honest Kurt you aren’t a million miles off we did show a lack of ambition. That said I think it came down £££ in the main like it has now. I don’t real have a huge issue with a person maximising their talent for money over a short career I’m sure I’d do the same. However the stroppy attitude and ‘injuires’ trying to force a move are what I can’t abide and is what makes somebody a complete wanker.
