You use the words "Venom and Hatred" in the title, and use "venom and vitriol" in the first line of your post.
Dictionary definitions include: Venom- "extreme bitterness" Vitriol- "bitter criticism"
Both the above would seem justifiable to many of those who love Stoke City and have supported it for many years, in some cases at great personal expense, in the light of all the things you then go on the enumerate in the remainder of you lengthy post.
I have been highly critical since September on this MB, but do not hate Rowett, and have never engaged in swearing or foul language.
The Board made a an error when they chose to appoint him, a decision I welcomed like many other fair-minded fans, but rapidly came to realize was a serious error as Rowett is clearly not up to the task. It is hardly surprising that those who have paid to endure his style of football, traveled long distances in some cases, and then listen to his criticism of his own employees and the fans have lost their patience and posted in the manner you describe. Their feelings are to sympathised not criticised.
I was of the view that the priority in being relegated was to avoid going through the trap door to the 3rd tier. None the less whilst an immediate return to the Premier league would have been highly improbable, it was not impossible. Rowett has been give every support possible by the club including support coaches, players re-signed, new players he wanted and plenty of time. He has not only failed in his business objective, but managed to alienate everyone in the process with his pronouncements. It is hardly surprising people have lost their cool and engaged in the way they have.

Nobody in their right mind truly "hates" GR, I'm sure he's a decent enough bloke - BUT, with the benfit of hindsight he was the wrong appointment for where we were as a club (ie in post-relegation turmoil) - results have been mediocre at best and he's clearly out of his depth / insufficiently experienced / unable to command sufficient professional respect. Crowds expressing their displeasure comes with the territory of a very well paid job (although some of the comments allegedly uttered are beyond the pale and wholly unacceptable in any circumstances) - equally, had he steered us to top 4 or 6 say, then he would be due all the plaudits.
It's a fine line sometimes.

Is it just me who thinks that the venom and vitriol being directed at the current manager is totally unbalanced for the results and performances so far this season, before you jump in with a no he deserves all he gets just bear me out, I agree something requires a addressing with the current problem but should it really have come to this, should it really have gone on to the point that the natives are revolting and actually forcing the club to make changes, Firstly it is easy for me to say because I withdrew my season ticket purchase to allow me to pick and choose games due to the utter shite served up for the last two years prior to relegation, towards the end of the nightmare season it was actually a better choice to remain in the pub with my ticket unused in my pocket at financial cost to myself but.... Were people that deluded to really think that we would be challenging for promotion this year with the shambles of a club that we had become, a club that became the laughing stock of the football world with the regular drubbing and score lines that we received, a team that was abused and hounded by its own so called supporters on its return to Stoke station after playing Spurs away, a debacle that I actually attended and walked out just after half time as it was that bad, no really it was that bad but I was also there to witness the hatred directed at Butland and Shawcross along with Hughes whilst a lonely looking whimmer sloped off to an awaiting car totally unscathed, a team that required a minimum of 8 first team players to stop the rot of a double relegation et Al Sunderland, a team that wasted so much money building a squad of no hoppers in imbula, badou, whimmer and Berahino, in my opinion if we were to avoid relegation this year we have done brilliantly and is a step in the right direction to fixing a small part of this deeply damaged football club. Smudge said not so long ago that he thought the club was not as rotten as people were saying and is a club that still has a lot to look forward to, he probably still stands by that line and I will accept his point of view but personally I think that the club is rotten from top to bottom and has been for over 3 years now, no matter who the manager is we will still have massive problems to sort and over come before we can even start to dream about any relative success out on the pitch, I agree 100% Rowetts team lacks any creative visual flare but the start of the season we were leaking goals just like in the prem, he fixed that just like Lambert managed to do by using the midfield and taking all the attacking supply lines from the strikers meaning we are toothless up front, Rowett is a manager who is going out to not lose as a priority but hopes luck will allow us to win hence all the draws, Pulis was hounded for this approach and here we are again, Lambert tried it and now Rowett is giving it a go, just dont lose guys don't lose. As for Bauer and Bojan being used against Rowett I despair with some of the comments on here, There is no bigger Bojan fan than me and I can honestly say when he was on form he was the best modern day player I have seen in a Stoke shirt, just remember though that when he first arrived he was shocking and invisable out on that pitch, it took him a fair few games to get going to the player we remember and all hope to have back in a Stoke shirt, I would love to see the Bojan of pre Rochdale rather than the player that he wad first half of his first season...but unfortunately that's what we have now, Bojan has had 4 maybe 5 different managers to give him a chance since his time at Stoke, this is all from memory but Lambert could have recalled him from his loan I think hence maybe 5 managers, I know that there were things going on in the background for Bojans time away from the club but here was a player getting some game time away from Stoke and we were facing a certain relegation, with this threat hanging over us and a new manager in place Lambert chose not to bring him back, what other reasons were there for Lamberts descion, we were in trouble and needed all hands on deck so why do you think this decision was taken, was it taken by Lambert or were his hads tied and if so by whom if the manager is calling the shots on the playing staff, unfortunately Bojan has not become that success he once was, my view is he is a confidence player and struggles with a bit part in the team, he should have been given a run after his goal at Rotherham but Rowett knew that we would ship goals again hence he shored up the midfield by sidelining Bojan, since then Bojan has disapeared again and is not even included in the match day squad of late, whys is this then......think long and hard before you answer As for Bauer....I was there that night at OT when he made his debut under Ned long name with Lambert sitting in the stand, Bauer was a star in the shit show and looked awesome going forward even though we yet again conceded 3 or 4, Bauer then became a regular under Lambert, he looked ok in his system and then signed a new 5 year deal after we were relegated so what has gone wrong, well firstly look at the month he signed his new deal did Rowett agree to this or even know any thing about it as these deals are not done in a day, then look at the first few results when Bauer played and how we now play as a team with the shape Rowett employs, is it a million miles from Lamberts when Baur was doing ok...then look at the fall out that was made public and the on going exclusion along with Bojan, so not in the squad or any mention of late for either of them, think of Inces words about fans calling for players but there are other factors at play, think of Shawcrosses words about the return of dressing room harmony Nah, Gary Rowett has not been as successful as some of the dreamers wish, he has spent shed loads, the squads pay is in excess of most if not all of the chamionship, we are boring to watch, our tippy tappy football is in the main ineffective in this league but we were a basket case of a club and that is what it took to get us on an even keel, if we avoid relegation this year we can move on and try to rebuild...with or with out Rowett but who ever it is or who ever it will be going forward the majority of problems will remain within the club and the manager has a job and half on his hands to be successful, it is said the minimum requirment of the team from the owners is the play offs, well my minimum requirment from the owners is as guardians of my club is to run it with purpose and pride, not to sleep walk in to relegation from the biggest cash cow in the sporting world by sanctioning minimum investment to keep the team just in the league, sort the behind scenes problems and give us all something to enjoy and want to be part of. We've spent over £40m on transfers this season bought in 10 players. This is a mess of a season and Rowett is to blame along with the players, Cartwright and Scholes. The longer we stay in this division the harder it will get, if Rowett didn't think it possible, he shouldn't have come. He knew we are expecting a promotion challenge and he knew the board was. So the fact we are 14th, playing shite week in week out. I think we are right to call for his head, the abuse he's getting, he doesn't help himself by making it him vs the fans.

You simply cannot underestimate how much he has brought it on himself though. To have such thinly veiled pops at supporters from such a position of weakness is pretty dim-witted. I'd like to think he'd learn from it in his next job but he's such a deluded arrogant fuck, I somehow doubt it. Don't mean to be picky mate, but I think you meant to say "You cannot OVER estimate how much he has brought it on himself" In which case, I agree with you. Good point

Some of the vile words used yesterday were well beyond the pale (mainly by individuals) and anywhere else but the terrace and there would be consequences, especially if Mr Rowett or the club heard them Yes he has not handled the press well and has cheap shots at the supporters. but I suspect he is the only visible one, so gets both barrels when some are probably aimed at the wider club current issues I had the”pleasure” to be stood near a bunch of JCLS yesterday who looked like they were drunk on the contents of a barmaids apron. Their comments were obnoxious and sick towards Rowett I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only one who told them to shut the f##k up as another guy had a go at them on the way out.

There is no reason at all why we should be in a miserable 14th place rather than challenging.
We dropped out of the Prem by only 3 points and invested £40 million net in the summer and only lost Shaq of any consequence.
It's been a woeful effort to date.

If you sat down with him for a chat over a pint would he be the same “arrogant” so and so? Probably not, he certainly never struck me that way as a player who made the most of his limited ability, or a manger in his early days. But he’s made his bed and now he has to lie in it, I stand by my belief however that some fans at games and on here/social media have overstepped the mark and need to have a look at themselves.....

Some of the vitriol towards Rowett has been cringeworthy and embarrassing. He’s trying to win football games - and not particularly doing a great job of it - but fuck me it’s not life or death...... Try to win it!! Are you sure? I would say he's trying not to lose it rather then win them and that's being kind to him! Job far to big for him , made worse by the set up above, and not helping himself with selection, formation, signings and interviews! We were and are no way near good enough to get promoted, but he is in no way making a fight of it , and not helping to make himself likeable to many fans.... Expected more from him but on reflection poor appointment!

Yesterday, the venom directed his way was over the top. Eric Pieters kicks the ball straight out of play when Ince is unmarked, 5 yards away, and boom 'Gary Rowett your football is shite. Yes, its up to him to motivate, coach, choose the players but a lot of them need to look in the mirror and take some responsibility.

Some very good points there Mozz. I like yourself am a bit longer in the tooth and where Stoke are concerned have been through this and a lot worse before.
It's sitting uncomfortably with me, well at least a bit it is. It's uncomfortable at the game and it's for sure affecting the players, and decisions made by the Management during the game.
Rowett. The biggest thing he's done is steadied a rotten and sinking ship. Not an easy task, even in this division we were leaking goals and carrying passengers.
His signings have been mixed. I like Woods, Ince can be a gamechanger and Clucas originally showed some promise. We should have gone nowhere near McClean for various reasons, Williams is more of what we've got (when we needed less), and whoever was responsible for signing Martina wants fucking. Etebo, the jury is out with me and there may still be a good player somewhere in Afobe, if used right, I say may. When Pieters is your best defender you've got big problems.
I don't blame Rowett for not picking Bojan. A succession of managers haven't picked him, why, because he's not consistent enough, nowhere near. Unfortunately Bojan, as nice a bloke as he is is being used as a stick to beat him with. I agree fully with your comments on Bauer.
The team is still littered with poor players from previous campaigns. We needed ridding of all the deadwood and there's still plenty of it.
Rowetts football is driving me insane, just as most of Hughesball did. It's tippy tappy shite, passing for passings sake. I don't enjoy going to the match at the minute, it's a chore.
The fans were way too slow off the mark getting on Hughes back. I'm not so sure that this time it may be too soon. Don't get me wrong, it's dreadful to watch, and every time Rowett opens his mouth he shoots himself in the foot. But things have been worse.
The Pizza Boys are well overdue some stick, especially Cartwright. Given the recruitment since he's been here, it defies belief he's still in a job. Just look no further than £50 million worth of players out on loan. We needed fresh, hungry, younger, fitter, faster players. We got the likes of Willams and fucking Martina. I could cry.
Does Rowett need to go? Given where we are, how we're playing and what's gone on, then yes he probably does. Will it be too soon, possibly. Will I be sad to see him go, no, slightly embarrassed yes. The new manager has got to be the right one, we can't keep changing. And he has to be given time and support.

Let's be honest, Rowett never had a chance with some folk on here. He's been getting it both barrels even before a ball was kicked in anger, and mainly from folk who in the summer were saying what a shit show this club is from top to bottom. Hypocrites, and they're probably secretly glad that it doesn't look like it's going to work out for Rowett here. Rowett hasn't handled the pressure of this job well at all and he's only got himself to blame, but I can completely understand why he feels hard done to because the home crowd just don't get behind the team anymore and this was from day one in the season which is probably something he's never really experienced before in his managerial career. Yes, the Stoke crowd had massive reason to be on a total downer after the last couple of seasons but our support at home has been absolutely shocking for a good while now, and as much as he's failing in his role some of the abuse and chanting is way over the top.

mozzerA fair and well balanced post mate. This is the problem with social media platforms. People assume and believe that they can say just about anything the want and in a manner that's fairly unacceptable in every day life. Arguably the best manager we ever had Tony Waddington endured a 'Waddington out' chant repeatedly at games near the end of his time as manager and the demise of the team wasn't even his fault. There wasn't the internet back then and things have got worse, much worse. Pulis and Hughes both have over a 35% win rate in the PL which considering it's top flight football isn't bad at all yet both received, and still do, a level of criticism that is largely undeserved. Only perhaps Lou Macari escaped the wrath of the fans. He had a win rate of 50% albeit in the lower leagues in his first spell. As for Rowett I'm not surprised, however he will be judged on results and by any standards the results so far have been disappointing. From a personal point of view the problems today are because of the disastrous big money signings over the last few years.

I thought he was a good appointment although coming at the second time of asking didn't sit right. When we got beasted by Leeds at the start of the season thought it was a rebuilding job so may take a few month getting going. Even then though he was saying weird stuff like pre-season schedule wasn't very good but it had been arranged by Lambert. Straight after the Leeds game too he chucked the formation played all pre-season so that couldn't have instilled great confidence in him from the players but again thought he was looking for a solution.
The warning signs for me though were when one week he came out and said the team were all in it together but the week after he started throwing players under the bus. Nowt wrong with the later but you can't do it the week after making a speech about being in it all together.
I think most folk would be willing to give him more time if they could see a plan beyond passing it about really slowly then lumping it for the last 15/20 minutes and he didn't come across as being so condescending.

It’s the delusion that really boils my piss to be honest as I think it’s infectious and the worrying thing for me is that even established first team players seem to be affected by it. Allen & Butland has visibly “shushed” the crowd in recent weeks, Shawcross’ general demeanour gives off that vibe that he couldn’t give a monkeys (been that way for a while now), Williams’ interview after yesterday’s game. Even players that get left out for a while opt to throw their toys out of the pram and act like children on social media as a pose to actually appearing to graft, when given a chance even at U23 level they’ve looked awful. The deluded arrogant behaviour is something that’s engrained through the club....ever seen an interview with Tony Scholes!!?
The losers here are the fans and that’s what’s bread such hatred and anger from the stands. Nobody is speaking to the supporters from the heart, we feel bottom of the list of priorities. Endless interviews paying lip service to us...constant drivel about “stick with us, we need you with us” etc etc it’s been three years of absolutely horrific football. We were in single figures for total wins all of last season in both league and cup and nobody shows and ounce of fight, compassion or to be honest general concern at all.
Seeing Crouchie shake hands with the fans yesterday is the reason why he is considered such a legend. Simple...just came shook hands and gave off the general vibe that he’s feeling our pain. His legs have gone but Jesus Christ he cares and shows it...no arrogance to see here.
Pulis was loved by some, hated by others but there’s no argument he’s been our best manager in many people’s lifetimes, he’s brought the most success. His football wasn’t the best at times but he was a master of PR in that he connected the players to the fans and he (sometimes even physically) forced everyone to pull in the same direction. We adored some of his players whilst maybe not loving him....maybe that’s the skill of management. I tell you what though, what a force we were!!! Took everyone on head to head and had a club to be proud of
I don’t know the way forward, it may be baby steps but right now we must be the most divided club in the country from the board to the management to the players to the fans in the stands. To someone at mid senior level realise that and act according would be a good start. Instead we have a manager who seems to stir the pot further at any given opportunity meaning with him at the helm things will surely only get worse

That’s the problem though! He wants play with wingers but only has two so has no options to change creativity from the bench. Pushes woods back further splits the centrehalfs and tells the wingers not cross wait for the fullbacks to get in support, which then leaves a massive gaping hole called the midfield which the opposition then steam through because they aren’t there and score. That’s been basically the format all season so far, the worst thing is we have more midfielders than Pulis used to keep centre half’s but linking with the forwards is non existent. I will be honest I’m confused as to what he wants he can’t claim he hasn’t been hacked he’s had forty million to spend at a minimum and he hasn’t in principle strengthened us just made us weaker by isolating players and divided the support in to camps of Rowett out and Rowett fuck off That’s all constructive criticism though. The over the top abuse is different, it’s pathetic and mainly from grown men who should know better..... He’s not doing well enough to be as arrogant (Hughes at his peak)as he is and he hasn’t got enough in the bank (Pulis) to be as opinionated and divisive as he is

He deserves all the vitriol being directed at him. Get him out of the club now! Pouring vitriol on a manager just because he doesn't play your favourite player is about as ridiculous as it gets. The OP is spot on, Rowett - like any manager - shouldn't be above criticism but what he's being put through is borderline psychotic. When we went down I thought the difference between us and Sunderland was that the atmosphere at the ground wasn't so toxic that it was affecting the players - and that was a big factor in Sunderland's demise. What worries me now is that the fans are losing the players. They respect Rowett and they respect each other - to hear the abuse hurled at the manager, the chants for players like Bojan who aren't even on the bench (for good reason) and booing of substitutions is clearly starting to take it's toll. Players who would have stayed are no doubt thinking of leaving and half decent players are going to think twice about coming here. The club has problems - top to bottom, And that includes the fans. Where we are now we could very easily become the next Sunderland.

It’s the age we live in. T’internet and social media quickly polarise opinion and attitude (look at how we got the mess that is Brexit and the disaster that is Trump). The rise of the keyboard warrior with little moderation of abusive and extreme comments hasn’t helped either. We have seen a lot worse than Rowett at the helm over the years.
Either that or I reckon there’s a hacker den in Skopje aiming to de-stabilise SCFC.

This so called 'vitriol'? Was has it been exactly?
I mean, I wasn't there yesterday so can't comment specifically on any new chants, but thus far all I've heard is 'your football is shit', which lets face it - is a fact.

Rowett is stubborn and clueless, even when he can see things don't work with the same players in the same position in the same formation, he keeps doing the same!!!??? Really baffling in my opinion.
