When you look at the top 6 it puts into context what a shit year it has been. Surely AJ should be there... If Lizzy Yarnold wins, I’ll give Ann Widdecombe a good rogering without a blindfold.

Should have been Froome last year instead of Farah. 3 major tours in 1 single calender year. Talks for itself. Should be Hamilton / Thomas this year. Froome's trio of Tour wins ran over into May 2018 though so he should be there IMO. If Thomas wins another TDF next year then maybe he could be nominated again but I don;t think one TDF is anywhere near Froome's claim to win it this year. It'll probably be Hamilton, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kane got it (totally unwarranted IMO). Kane and personality, yer know!

Bit of a head scratcher in hindsight...

Also, is it just me or has the whole diversity thing becoming a farcical showcase in virtue signalling?
I am all for equality, but the constant ramming it down our throats just makes it seem so forced and fake.

Just seen on the BBC website - why the hell is George Ezra singing at SPOTY ? It just gets more and more jazzed up each year and takes it further away from what it really should be - Sports Performer of the Year, it certainly isn't anything about Sports Personality of the Year !

What Hamilton has done in sport he should be treated like a king. If Kane wins it for winning, the square root of fuck all, it would be a complete farce.

Southgate - coach of the year ?? Why ? Exactly. Best a load of average teams on route to a semi-final where he failed to address the weakness of our midfield. Oh well. Who else could there have been? Fury's coach helped him from hell to a title fight in a year. But again didn't win.

Deserved, though Froome must be scratching his head... The more I have observed SPOTY down the years the more I realise you need a constituency to win the popular vote. Thomas has two, the 'cycling fraternity' and the 'people of Wales'. Froome had no such GB regional support, indeed many people felt GB was just a badge of convenience for him, and as for the cycling fraternity it was divided when he was up for nomination. He was up against track cyclists too. No such problem for Thomas tonight.

No not at all. He took over a depressed England team and stimulated and organised them to qualify for the biggest event on earth in style and comfort. No head scratching required.
