Hamilton isn't exactly widely popular is he? He's a great in his sport though, no denying that.

I thinks it’s just me, but I can’t bear this programme. Such a big deal is made of it each year and it’s just a massive exercise in the BBC bigging itself up. Bah humbug.

I used to love Sports Personality of the Year. These days I cant be arsed with the programme. Over produced nonsense. Bah, humbug. Spot on Partick - I just can't be bothered to watch Lineker and Co. and all the sycophantic bullshit. I haven't watched it for quite a few years now - half the time it's almost a foregone result. I know Hamilton will probably win it but for me this year it should have been Chris Froome - 4 Tour de France wins in 6 years, he held the 2017 Tour de France, 2017 La Vuelta, and 2018 Il Giro d'Italia all at the same time but as usual he's overlooked and Geraint Thomas gets nominated for winning the Tour de France this year.

Should have been Froome last year instead of Farah. 3 major tours in 1 single calender year. Talks for itself. Should be Hamilton / Thomas this year.

He's not a popular fella though, and the news breaking about the drugs test just days before the SPOTY event didn't help him at all. The top 3 were a big surprise in 2017; no Froome, Joshua or Hamilton. Hamilton is the stand-out nominee this year, but who knows (or cares, for that matter )

Froome's trio of Tour wins ran over into May 2018 though so he should be there IMO. If Thomas wins another TDF next year then maybe he could be nominated again but I don;t think one TDF is anywhere near Froome's claim to win it this year. It'll probably be Hamilton, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kane got it (totally unwarranted IMO).
