Sadly I have to admit I was wrong in asking for him to return. He was appalling.
He lost every 50/50 header vs Hugill. He lost every foot race with him and was a liability on the deck.
Against a more attacking team he would have cost us dear.
Needs moving out and moving on ASAP before his legacy here is destroyed.

Looks completely gone. Makes Williams look like Maldini in his prime.

Why were people booing his yellow card?

He was awful, putting in some clumsy challenges.
His previous physicality might have served to make up for the fact that his footballing intelligence is really quite poor. Been a great servant though and I'd keep him as cover, great attitude.

It’s a priority we get a CB in January. Ryan was really poor. All he can do now is head the ball and get the odd block in. He’s lucky it was Huggill he was up against and not a Roofe or the lad from the Baggies or we would have lost heavily. We need to stick with Indi and Williams to Jan barring injuries. Great servant but he’s finished.

Great servant but he’s finished. I posted before, a player who played against us earlier in the season said they targeted him but still couldn’t believe how immobile he was. There was also a view last season that his dropping so deep was the major cause of our not being able to hold leads. Sadly all correct I believe

Ryans an absolute legend and at his peak was a colossus. His performance tonight upset me as he looks a pale shadow of his former self and its very sad to witness.

As much as I've hoped he could return to the colossus he once was even I'm losing faith. However he still is a natural defender and he positioned himself in the right area a couple of times today to block dangerous efforts. Unnoticed defending but effective😉

This is what I hear every time he miss-kicks an interception and a forward nonchalantly skips past him (and Williams)
He's so clumsy and slow. Players really should know when enough's enough. I dread any team with any sort of attacking intent and pace. It'll be a fucking bloodbath with this pair.

Whats more embarrassing? His performance or the lack of respect shown by so called fans to a club legend and captain for ten years plus.

I can remember Bobby Charlton at his best, but IMO he went on to long. I used to work at the Michelin with an ex vale player and he said he only realised that it was time to pack it in when he heard two fans talking about him, sat next to him in a park.

Why were people booing his yellow card? Definitely a yellow however there had been clear yellows not given so I think that wound people up?

The only person showing a lack of respect was the current manager post Blackburn when he had his mental meltdown on the radio. The fans have backed Ryan to the hilt over the last ten years. They have a right to pass judgement on his performances. It's nothing compared to what Rowett did to him.

It's a different time though, mate. Players will watch their games back, often after the match if they're away. Rightly or wrongly it'll get scrutinised by anyone with a fleeting interest in football. Fan's have a much louder voice than ever. I'm not saying he or any player should listen to fans but surely when you see your own performances fade, in Ryan's case has been the happening for 2 years- surely he knows?

Sadly after the first 10 mins looked like an accident waiting to happen every time the bal went near him...…………..so sad. We MUST buy a mobile, young and agressive centre back and left back early in January. Then perhaps we won't have to sit so deep to protect the dodgy back 4 that it means that Afobe is constantly isolated!!

A club legend, he's played lots of games and it looks like the back injury took it's toll.
We need to bring in a commanding CB in January but I doubt we'll find one as good as ryan in his prime

Awful today. Off the pace, mistimed tackles, a deserved yellow card and a straight red coming his way had he connected with hugil when he went through! Just so bad it’s sorry to see

Why were people booing his yellow card? Think they were booing the fact boro made at least 4 or 5 challenges that were borderlining yellow but our first foul was a yellow. Admittedly rightly so, but he simply had to book one of there’s before that one

I wouldn't be quite so harsh but with Ryan I feel like it's not just fitness but he's scarred in other ways from the relegation season, he seems to have lost his nerve and because of that is making too many poor decisions. In a central defender that's kind of a disastrous problem

For the love of god please get 2 centre half’s in January and let Ryan have a happy retirement. He’s been fantastic for this club but today we saw he is finished.
