Another vote for Ally Pickering. Hated that slip on wearing peroxide bell end.

Steve stigger foley Dean Whitehead Darryl Russel
I think I have an aversion for central midfielders that work hard but with little talent.
We’ve had a lot of those down Stoke but these 3 I just never liked

Hated David Kevan. Lucky to even ever be a pro. Then I had the displeasure of playing against stoke youth when he was coach. Arrogant git!

Ian Cranson got me into the players lounge at Bolton away in the 90s we went up as champions and Bolton beating us 1 0 came up with us ,anyhow had a long chat with Dave Kevan and found him to be a great bloke very down to earth and humble

The op mentioned decent players that you didn't like. The likes of tweed, Pickering, bamber et al were all shite.
Decent player, impossible to like? Surely shaqiri wins this one hands down?

John Harkes. Probably the most skilful player we had at the time but he was ex-Arsenal so I always had him down as a flash, arrogant Cockney bastard. Never forget his sweet sucking interview when he had fallen out with the board (or was it Pulis, or was it both). Going way back, Maurice Setters doesn’t sound like a nice bloke in Conroy’s Autobiography, but perhaps Terry was biased. John Harkes wasnt he the American fella who played for Coventry. Do you mean John Halls? Yes, that’s him. But this beer is very good.

Shaqiri - signed kicking and screaming, fit when he wanted to be and wasn't a team player.

Liked a lot of the players on here. How anyone can dislike Dave Kevan is beyond me,one of the nicest men going.
Anyway another vote for Tony Ellis, the epitome of the bottler. Stoke were the biggest club he'd played for,he couldn't cope with the pressure (scored his goals mostly away) but still gave it the big time Charlie routine.

Marco Gabbiadino and Paul Stewart hated them 2 even in their prime they were crap let alone when we got them both in their 30s Gabbiadini was a good player when he was younger particularly at Sunderland and he did well at Derby too. We just got the fat, past it Flabbiadini version. Stewart was also a decent player at his best if never prolific. He was just way past it when we had him.

Lee Sandford always seemed like an arse. 😢 One quarter of my favourite back 4. Agreed, him, Vinny, Cranston and Butler were my favourite awesome foursome, but I was at staffs uni at the same time as Sandford (he used to rock up to lectures with that dance teacher bird) and he’d never talk to anyone, seemed to think he was a cut above the scum around him.

As players I would suggest some of last years squad overhyped and overpaid footballers who play for us should give 100% on and off the pitch then if you aren't good enough we will accept that.

With living near Sunderland used to go to a lot of the games when Marco played for Blunderland but all you ever had to do with Marco was hit him with a hard tackle early on and then he disappeared ,true I might be a tiny bit biased as I hate Sunderland more than most Stoke fans hate Vale

He was the victim of his own success in working himself into fantastic positions only to completely Diouf the whole thing up. He'd have been much better thought of if he'd not been in the right place so often. A real pity. The problems were all in his head. He was nicknamed 'jigsaw' for a good reason. Never heard the "jigsaw" thing but find it apt and certainly amusing! I sat in the butler street stand in them days so had a decent view of him and his prowess, for me he was a bit shit but then I thought Dave Regis was really good!!! Memories!!!! I was up in the Butler Street Stand at that time as well. I can’t remember any player having so many one-on-ones with the keeper as Carruthers, and he ballsed them all up. It was a shame because I think he was a decent enough player aside from that. Think he was really highly rated when we bought him, but even Lou couldn’t get him to work properly. I loved big Dave. Shove the ball past the central defender then basically just run through him. Must have been a scary sight watching him running straight at you. Stein had this way of making every strike partner look good.

The ball from that penalty is set to show up on satellite images every 78 years or so.

At the risk of sounding pathetic, I can’t not dislike anyone that pulls on the shirt, as they pull on our shirt and get my loyalty and adoration. I have felt sorry for some players over the years, most noticeably David Oldfield, he was shite in a team that flattered to decieve, but no more shite than others. However he stood out by being slow, not being able to pass or tackle, but I suspect his most damaging aspect was he ran like a girl. Sorry Dave, and I will never forget the optimism of the first 10 games of the season. I even drove up from darkest Sussex to Lincoln away. I didn’t know where Lincoln was or even is now, but I do remember driving home with hope

For all the shit I’ll get, Fuller. Very creative player but just not a goalscorer. He created so many great opportunities, but missed so many as well.

I never really liked
Eric Skeels, totally irrational.....though he was great servant to the club, but I always felt like we were going to lose when he played Alex Elder...rubbish Alec Lindsay.....ditto Sammy Irvine, used to drive me up the wall Jon Walters (just a gobby twat) Anthony Pulis (wasn't his fault, I suppose) Peter Sweeney....couldn't be arsed Choupo-Moting....see above
