James said: “As great as it’s been supporting Stoke in the Premier League as a late 30-something. I’d swap it all just to be 15 again, watching a Stein shot arrow through the rain and hit the net at the old Boothen End.” This but, obviously, I was older.

Edit: not a thousand times older. You know what I mean! It's fantastic to read, whether in a couple of 'hits' or dipping in and out of at random. Some beautifully poignant moments, such as the fan's tribute to the much maligned Alan Ball, that cajole you to reavaluate your own perception of the man,and some vignettes that are revealing about fandom and the randomness of memories. I didn't think Macari could go up in my estimation, but the way players speak of him,the man-management,dropping players off at Park Hall to see how they'd get back to ascertain "what they were about.." has all the hallmarks of a Clough or SAF. Got all misty eyed reading about the crackle of expectation before that first derby with Vale, the away games at Tranmere, the legendary 2-2 at Anfield etc. It's a paen to our lost youth. Thank you TD!

Another passive display, does Rowett ever try and win games. Yes no mention of this in TD's book! A glaring omission!

Well ordered my copy. That's my 10 hours sorted flying back from Vegas to Stoke for Christmas. Mind you it is free alcohol on the flight so I might have to re read the last few hours GD

Cheeky bump. I think when I've finally exhausted my copy, instead of donating it to a charity shop or trying to flog it on eBay etc,I'm going to have to sequester it in one of the many hedgerows of S-O-T for a pubescent teen to find,a spiritual coming coming full circle so to speak...😉

This is a fantastic book, highly recommend if you’re feeling down as it makes you laugh out loud like a lunatic. I look forward to bedtime to read it. It’s a good quiz question to ask your dad..or your brother or your mate or your brother’s mate..who was the final Stoke player to score at the Vic? And secondly, what was the weather like? Love it

Just purchased, looking forward to it, the nineties was my era (Friday Castle, Stoke match, pub, home change, Hanley, Yates's Karaoke Sundee !!) so this should be well up my street.

A brilliant read the best Stoke fan book i have read its about being a supporter not a stats book. Any Stoke fan from any era will relate to TD experiences and interviews.
Recommend it to any true Stoke fan or football fan of any club. Previously commented after i read it in Oct 2018 on this thread.
