What? We would suddenly stop handing freebies out to the opposition?? Go and re-watch the goals that we've conceded this season. More than half are due to rank, poor, individual errors. Like Robert Huth just said on GoS - players have to take responsibility for their own performances. You can't cut out mistakes completely but many of them are symptoms of an overall malaise, disorganisation, anxiety filtering down from a confused and anxious manager and coaching staff. There is an air of desperation in everything we do that is totally unnecessary. i think were a more experienced coach to take over theen they would try to instill more confidence in the squad thus relieving th e anxiety our players seem to have i think Rowett made the mistake of callong them out in public which has led to even more anxiety coupled with anger and frustration that a manager did it. if you think your manager has your back you begin to believe in your ability again and play with more confidence usually returning better results in the process. i do think Rowett may have realised this judging by his words after saturdays match compared to recent interviews

Rowett said earlier this week he was told to concentrate on forward signings and to ignore the defence. He's got us scoring but we're still leaking in goals like we were under Hughes. The evidence is damning against whoever decided our defence didn't need a full clean out. Christ he’s the manager, was told to ignore the defense? By who? He’s the manager of our club, the person who supposedly has the most footballing knowledge. It’d be like the receptionist telling the GP that the patient doesn’t have a heart problem and to focus on the abdomen!! It’s spurious I strongly disagree, surely the Technical Director Of Football at Stoke City Football Club must have a superior knowledge of football than the clubs manager ? Just the importance of this role is suggested in the grandiose title ! I’m sure Mr Rowett has sought the advice of Mr Cartwright on numerous occasions and is probably his closest confidant !

If Coates is losing patience with Rowett it would be totally understandable. Many chairmen would have acted already if their teams were under performing to the extent that we are. Our defending this season has been embarrassing. Then why doesn't he lose patience with scholes and carto ?? GR asks for James Chester and Knudsen ( proven championship players ) and ends up being given Williams and Martina ( this season ) Not to mention a catalogue of financial and footie catastrophies , since the scholes carto dream team were let loose with the club's money

Is losing patience with Rowett and is desperate for the comfort blanket of a Moyes or McCarthy. Hope I am wrong as I think Rowett will bring success given time. Why do you think he will bring success? I can see no evidence of improvement. He has a better record than TPs first 10 games so im using that to justify my own delusions that not only will he get us to a cup final he will win one.

Jon Coates was on camera shaking his head in disbelief at the game.
Hopefully he realises what a mess we are in with this clown Rowett.

It was Tony scholes on Saturday shaking his head! John Coates was caught on screen shaking his head, although in context I'm not sure it was down to our performance. If I'm right, I think it was to do with the incident where a Rotherham player ran into Pieters' (??) elbow and went down like a sack of the proverbial.

I'm really torn on this. One part of me thinks Rowett isn't up to the job with his bizarre post match rants and the fact I thought he was good at organising ordinary players into a hard to beat team which he's struggling to do with us. The other part of me thinks the players he's signed look good (offensively) and has turned us into a threat at the other end of the pitch, only for it all to be undone by inept defending from experienced professionals who are badly letting everyone down.
I think he needs time... He needs to be backed with money with the defence like he has been with the attacking players. I'm unsure who's call it was to sign Martina and Williams and even if Rowett gave it the okay, they clearly weren't the top of his list.

Absolutely, ever wondered what was wrong with the club? You're taking it as absolute gospel truth then? Well there must be a reason for our total collapse from a solid established mid table team to where we are now, it sure as hell isn't Rowett. Bauer, n diaye signed without a manager in place, Allen & Bauer being handed new contracts without a manager in place. Having a manager in place seems to be a good disguise for what actually happens at the club. Now Rowett falling out with the recruitment weeks after signing?

2 loan signings at the death of the window and now reports of the manager being told to leave the defence? Coincidence?
No wonder Chester wasn't done.
My only question is how far does scholes influencing our transfer strategy & how keen we are on certain players and areas of the pitch stretch back because our decline has his finger prints all over it?

This thing where Rowett's supposedly said he was told to ignore the defence as far as new signings were concerned; it seems to be being quoted as fact, but I can't recall him ever saying it. Where's it come from? Are there any links to his quotes anywhere?

But even so, if he was told to disregard the defence by a higher power... what choice does he have?

Seems to me he was sweetened at the end with the promise of two loans after not signing his defensive targets because 'somebody' didn't believe they were needed and it's not an area transfer fees need spending on. Or maybe that's just another coincidence and another bullshit rumour? Coincidences Stacking up though arn't they

What you're doing is just piling unsubstantiated dodgy rumour upon unsubstantiated dodgy rumour. That's not 'conclusive', you're believing it because you want to, and because it's nice to think there's an easily solvable issue represented by two bogeymen. If Rowett had walked he'd have been a laughing stock and finished as a potential top level manager. He'd have had to start from near enough the bottom again.

No it all seems to add up to scholes for me, of course I may be completely wrong but I doubt it. This guy has more say than he should be allowed too imo. If Rowett didn't think the defence needed reinforcements why did we end up with 2 loan signings at the death when he said he didn't want loans, signed just after a 'rumoured bust up. If this rumoured bust up is correct he's seen the shit show for what it is just weeks after signing.

How do we know anyone didn't think the defence needed reinforcements? He ended up with loans because we didn't get ALL of our top targets. Disappointing, but few clubs do. Again, 'if' is doing an awful lot of work based on very little in the bust-up assumption.

Why not sign Knudsen for a relative pittance if the manager was interested? The only explanation is a) we were not interested or b) tony scholes wasn't?

Were we that bothered?
