Bauer was one of our better players last season....personally speaking I think he should be on the pitch ...it kinda reminds me of some of the things that Pulis did ...like not playing Lawrence for ages because of the alleged ‘falling over the dog incident” and Jermaine P....for behaving like a bellend off the pitch...personally speaking I think if they want to act like a cock womble in the evening ..that’s their choice, it may not seem professional, but they only embarrass themselves...and let’s face it the opposing fans will have loads of piss take songs lined up, that’s what we do...and that’s gotta hurt a bit ...or get them angry enough to score loads of goals ...but punishing players we need on the pitch, that’s pretty stupid ...and petty ...Rowett needs to have a quiet or shouty word with the player and move on ....not hold grudges..

Does Bauer need to have a quick word with Rowett about using the national media to flounce his team mates in public after a match is the question? Double standards. Please sack him on Monday.

Agree with this. RowOUT doesn't understand that media (including social) is key part of modern football. RowOUT is probably jealous that Bauer is known whereas he's obscure. Hadn't heard of RowOUT before the straight talking (yet tactically and managerially lacking) guy joined us

Bauer was in the upper tier today acting like a rock star. Laughing, smiling and posing for photos. He didn't seem gutted not to be playing... He was not acting like a rock star. He was sat behind me. My son asked him for a selfie and he agreed. He spent the rest of the match with another guy and his young son and the lad was clearly made up to be at the game with him. We spoke to him during the game, he was as despairing as I was of our defending, saying he thought we had learnt nothing since the Sheff Weds game - in terms of the long ball over the top undoing us and some of our defenders not playing to the whistle. I asked him why he wasn’t playing he said he thought he had played his last game for us - he did not sound at all happy about it. He talked about being really happy to sign a new contract and was right into getting back into the Prem. He said that he wasn’t in the managers plans and that these things happen in football. If anything, he came across as a bit gutted by it all. He was not at all acting like a rock star. Worrying if accurate Rowett needs to swallow some pride and give Bauer another chance Bauer needs to publicly acknowledge that it was a mistake to vent his frustration on social media Moritz is an intelligent young man, he has plenty of potential and should be part of the way forward Rowett wants an experienced defence we need players who are not past their best

Not heard it, but if he’s talking about a player who’s not been in the squad for ages in response to that performance today, then that is some spectacular deflection taking place right there. First sign he’s shown of being under some real pressure. He hasn't. He ripped into the defending, ripped into Shawcross for the 1st goal, said he has told the team he will make changes and they won't need to ask why as today's performance is why, Changes will be made, He has kept some players in the team who he shouldn't have and they will be dropped now. Then at the end Bauer got brought up, he said he should stay off social media, actually work hard in training and he will get back in the team. He is currently not. If that's what he said he's absolutely right - it was the defending (again) that lost us the game. Also if some of the rumours about instructions from upstairs coming down about team selection he has to stand up to that and pick his own team regardless of history and how the fans and the board might react. That will put him out on a limb and make his position very vulnerable but I think that's what he should do and (as demonstrated by the Bauer situation) I think he's got the balls to do it. If the club has any sense they'll let him do it - the worse thing that could happen is for them to sack him and get in someone who will only make acceptable/popular decisions. That really will mean more of the same.

That really will mean more of the same. Nobody’s picking his team for him. And setting up the way we did was a factor in the game as well as the defending. His utopian vision for what he wants the team to be isn’t going to get the job done against teams who defend deep in numbers.

We certainly need to drop payers out of form or are shot but if we simply bring in an inexperienced defence we'll get slaughtered in this league - and it would pretty much kill some young careers. Rowett has 2 choices - he can either keep the fans and the board sweet by making popular selection decisions or stick to his guns and only pick the players he thinks are right for the job at hand. His interview seems to indicate that to date he's done a bit of both and he's admitted it was a mistake. Effectively he's declared war on some of the fans and some the board in order to do be able to do his job. He's going to piss a lot more people off before he's done. And he's spot on for doing it.

I understand your point of view and I agree that an experienced defence is not necessarily one that is past his best all of the time, but sometimes there are more disadvantages by sticking with that tactic I also agree with the social media mistake that Bauer has made, my concern is whether both him and Rowett are prepared to give each other a chance - ultimately it's up to Rowett, but a stubborn attitude may be the wrong one in the long run His team have been patient with Berahino and should give Bauer another chance imo Bauer wasn't the only player to have a bad game at the start Declaring war on a certain section of fans may also be a negative stance, keeping all of it in house at this moment in time would be preferable Fair play to him for being prepared to state his opinion with the media, but he needs to go about it is in a more professional way if possible All fans want to see the team do well, whoever plays

He must be wondering himself how he has gone from a club / fan favourite, and part of a improved defensive performance in the second half of last season to being completely on the outer. We've all done and said stupid things when we are frustrated / feeling aggrieved. But he has certainly gone from the penthouse to the shithouse in near record time.

I truly don’t give a flying fuck what Bauer has done. Rowett shouldn’t be using a presser to deflect after a performance like that. Bauer hasnt been near the team for over a month, and Rowett needs to focus on addressing the absolute shit show that he’s presiding over on the pitch. I’m honestly starting to really dislike the bloke - something about him isn’t right, and he seems unwilling to take responsibility for anything. Particularly bringing in a bloke who looks no better than Bauer or Edwards to start with. Martina is better than both.

I don't particularly like Rowett but I don't see much wrong with what he said? Bauer' s taken thinly veiled pop shots about not being picked despite "working hard" and faux tortured soil bollocks, he's fair game.

My concern is the megaphone diplomacy, it's crap management comment on the poor defending, say you are going to have to make changes, make them for the next game and everyone can see who you were blaming. Conveniently it also stops anyone asking why saido did not start ahead of Diouf who had a relatively poor game v Swansea and was pretty much anonymous yesterday.

I saw it too....before the Rowett backlash, but I didn’t take anything out of it apart from Bauer relaxing after a “hard training session”. I just thought, „at least he’s still trying and being positive about Stoke“ and didn’t see any undercurrent of anti-manager sentiment. I did think his post a few weeks ago (grey picture of him with some words about keep going) was more more telling and no doubt I thought „oops, that’s a bit close“. This time... nothing of the sort! I think someone is stirring the pot in the background and that Rowett has let the heat of the moment cloud his judgement this time.

To be fair to Rowett, if he's had the decency to have a chat with him behind closed doors about it and the player has gone straight out and done it then I back the manager every time. Bauer is an idiot IF that is the case and it shows poor character. That said, the bit about it telling Blackburn info about the starting line up is complete and utter horse shit.

Apparently Rowett consulted the fairies and they advised him not to play anyone starting with ‘B’... hence why Bauer, Bojan and Berahino struggle to get on the pitch. Expect Butland to be dropped next...

Criticized his social media post saying how hard hes training and that he announced before the game he wasn't playing. Rowett says he trained only 20 mins and he doesn't like the fact that Blackburn knew he wasn't in the team before it was even announced. That is absolutely fucking insane. He might as well blame the groundsman for the pitch being too slick or the away dressing room being too comfy. Jesus, nobody likes to refer to the context of the discussion before wading in these days. The whole interview was heavily based on the performance of the defence, that changes needed to be made and then led on, though not explicitly stated, to the scarcity of options. At that point, the discussion turned to Bauer, one of the options, and Rowett explained exactly why he hadn't been in the side, that the day previously, he had Bauer in his office, told him he wanted the social media posts of this ilk to stop immediately and that he would be in the side for the forest game. Less than 24 hours later Bauer is on social media saying he's "working hard" when all he's done is a 20 minute warm up, basically announcing he's not in the side, completely flying in the face of what the manager has directly asked of him. It seems like nothing BUT, this sort of thing, and our recent managers lack of control of it has been a constant source of anger on here, now Rowett is putting his foot down and half the people who have (rightly) been slating the likes of Choupo, Jese, Wimmer for their idiocy are blaming the manager because they like Bauer!

I undecided on this one. sure if he has an attitude and doesent take things seriously in training then thats a problem. However this lack of training dosent manifest itself in the games, always think he puts in a great shift.
Coming out and slagging him off just reeks of poor management, the best mangers keep it in house and play the bigger man.

No - completely the opposite, He should stick by his decision (which was right - Bauer's defending was awful early season) and it's up to Bauer to demonstrate to Rowett that he has a place in the team. He shouldn't bow to pressure from either the board or the fans as to who he should pick. Also an experienced defence is not the same as one past it's best. We certainly need to drop payers out of form or are shot but if we simply bring in an inexperienced defence we'll get slaughtered in this league - and it would pretty much kill some young careers. Regardless of whether we need certain players on the pitch or not, we can't keep letting them take the piss when they're workshy in training. What kind of message is that giving to the youth in the club who work their arses off and don't get a chance? Isn't it entirely that kind of attitude that leads to younger players thinking they can behave how they want? Interesting how so many people have said "Allardyce/Pulis wouldn't let them get away with it" and because Rowett ISN'T letting them get away with it, suddenly he's the bad guy and it should be him that backs down. These are the same kind of problems we've had with players for 3 managers now,all of which tired to do things more "privately" and it never worked, so to simply blame it on Rowett is massively short sighted if you ask me. When are the players actually going to take some responsibility instead of constantly playing the victim card? Telling fans to boo players isn't on, but i really see no issue whatsoever with what he's said about Bauer. He spoke to him in private, Bauer still then took the piss again. If he's big enough to do that and if he's big enough to publicly talk about how hard he's training, then he should be big enough to take being publicly outed as a liar. I saw the Bauer part of the interview as nothing more than the manager telling the fans why he wasn't playing i.e. exactly what the fans have been asking him to explain and slagging him off for not being honest with us about. He hadn't told us because he was dealing with it in house and got slated by the fans for not letting them know what was going on.He then does tell us the reason and still people moan and blame him for it anyway and are now basically saying "He may not train hard at all but sod him, let's play him anyway...oh but we also don't want entitled primadonna's at the club". It seems to be a case of him dealing it with in a more "professional way" actually means that he keeps it private so it doesn't embarrass anyone, but sends a pm to people on the Oatcake so only Stoke fans know the truth i.e. if you want him to deal with it in house, then everyone needs to stop slagging him off for not telling people why certain players aren't being picked, you can't have it both ways i'm afraid.
