3 wins in 5, 3 home clean sheets on the bounce, vastly improved performances with more to come, McClean and Clucas to come back next month.
All this, and despite our poor start we’re only 9 points off top! There doesn’t appear to be any run away team like Wolves this year so there’s absolutely no reason why we can’t put a run together and make up lost ground.

Always been confident that Rowett will get it right and i still am. He's a quality manager at this level and some of the shit that's been spoken on here has been pathetic to say the least.

Leeds have more points after 8 games than Wolves did after 8 last year.

We will be up around the top 6 by Christmas. If we dont start playing better we dont deserve to be top 6 even if we do get there. I'd like us to play well after Christmas and then we can target a top 2 finish, which is the only acceptable position for us.

The reality is that he should be able to take this squad of players up this season, that's what I think the Board will expect.
He's clearly a good manager at this level, but he needs a promotion on his C.V. and he won't get a better chance than with Stoke.

If we are there then that’s it. I’ve always had an eye on this league since we were out of it and it’s crazy. What is acceptable to me is if we get our shit together and keep trying to improving under a new manager who seems to not get a great deal of slack.

I know some of the negatives me included get terrible stick for over reacting to defeats but honestly apart from the result which was excellent there was nothing in the *90 minutes last night that gave me any confidence , that shape and structure are emerging .

Pathetic post as per usual At least he has the balls to come forward I suppose. he's wrong, mind. A few er, well 'established' posters are unusually quiet, almost as though they have been preparing drafts for the last few days on slagging Rowett off again, after our defeat to Swansea and the superior Graham potter 😁

I think it’s literally all down to confidence. Hopefully a couple more wins will give us the confidence to play the risky passes rather than playing it safe. It’ll come I’m convinced

Perhaps it is slowly coming together. A win on Saturday puts us in the top half (probably) and confidence will increase.
We've still got holes in the team but hasn't it always been the case at Stoke!

Got to give it time mate. This league, you can afford to have a shit result then 3 unbeaten and so on. As far as I am concerned it’s a new era and my expectations are for us to get ourselves involved in the mix for promotion most probably by the play offs.

It should be possible to go up automatically, this is a much better squad than Tony Pulis had in 2OO7/8.

I think the expectation of Rowett is promotion at the first time of asking, be that automatically or via the play-offs. Anything less will be considered failure, and rightly so. He’s not got off to the best of starts, but the signs of improvement are starting to show. He still has lots to do, but we seem to be moving in the right direction and if that continues, the confidence will improve. Some of the stick he’s gotten has been deserved, some has been way over the top, but that’s all part and parcel of being a manager. He’s not been around to suffer the shit we’ve had to watch over the last two years, so perhaps doesn’t quite grasp the negativity and impatience of the fans, but he has to learn how to deal with it. I’m cautiously optimistic based on the last couple of games that he can turn things around and deliver the goods. Let’s see where we are around the end of the year - I have a feeling the poor start might be long-forgotten at that point.

Top six in January, I have been saying it since the first game of the season. Hopefully I will be right. We have a good squad despite what half the people have been saying on here. It's starting to click together slowly.

I don’t think we are. We don't resemble a football team whatsoever, slow and lethargic football. Although it was a good 3 points, I can’t see us any where near the top half of the table this season.

Next two games are huge.
If we can beat Blackburn and Rotherham then i'd class that as a corner turned and we're well on our way.

We have the makings of a decent side but the problem is that 'decent' won't cut it in this league and 'bloody good' is what you need to get promoted to the Prem. I'm thinking we may need to float a bit before we start swimming, but it may happen, you never know.

No, we are not "on our way" yet, last night we deserved to win but we got a very lucky goal.
If you take away the emotion and look at the results with cold logic, we have only had 1 bad result, the Wigan defeat. If we win our home games and draw away we will be on course for at least a play off place, but we have to play better over 90 minutes.
We are now going to play a run of mid-table teams. This is the acid test for Rowett.

Not seen this mentioned anywhere (so apologies if it has) but the season we went up from the old 2nd under Lou - we started with 7 points from 7 games. Wonder how much knicker-wetting went on back then!?

Leeds have more points after 8 games than Wolves did after 8 last year. They are also 2points worse off than they were last season, and then they decided to self implode as a Christmas present for all those lovely Tt-Yorkshire folk !

It's already looking like a fit and in form Woods is going to be absolutely crucial to our potential promotion push. Hopefully Clucas can be an able deputy should Woods get injured. However, without Woods I'm not sure we have enough footballers to go up.

Wonder how much knicker-wetting went on back then!? I dare say just as much in the pubs and clubs but in a different way. Football fans haven't changed over the years. The ratio of people who panic, to people who moan, to people who choose not to do either hasn't really changed I reckon. What's changed is the internet and how visible it makes the different groups of supporters. The old Victoria ground could be a nasty place that turned on players and managers when it wanted to.
