If rowett wanted and got full control why did it take so long to get woods here? Woods no doubt spent some time with his agent weighing his options. You are probably right. He wanted to return closer to home and his club were happy to sell him. A recently relegated side with aspirations of an immediate return to the premier league, offering a huge pay rise and a location a mere 20 minutes from where he lives would have given him much to think about I'm sure.

He might have been asking his agent if it was a good career move to join a club that could be playing League 1 football next season. The agent then might have circulated his name to see if WBA, Boro, Leeds et al were interested.

Probably because transfer are not easy, you cannot just click a button on a computer and you’ve brought a player It's not easy when the player would only consider moves to 2 clubs, one of which was us? Rowett wanted him the second he walked through the door, the player wanted to come, brentford wanted to sell yet it still wasn't easy? Rowett was talking last week about N’Diaye playing in there and it sounded like he went down those outer until it became clear the player wanted off. Woods came in as N’Diaye left. I agree with you that the Bauer timings don’t support the view that Rowett was not involved. However, I know Bauer made a huge impression on and off the pitch in his first 6 months and the club were very keen to keep him. With him and Allen the thinking included trying to project an image of stability and also to protect the value of assets. Understandably, the business side will Sometimes drive decisions

It still begs the question as to whether Rowett has been handed full control of transfers if that was case, which was my original question to whoever it was that said Rowett has full control.

Didn’t Moses play a massive part in Chelsea winning the league? Not sure how it’s so hilarious to suggest he was the better player. As a left winger he was better for us at the time Arnautovic can and always has been able to do things with a football that Victor Moses could only dream of doing. He's in a different class to Moses and his stats prove it. Moses was that good at left wing he got moved to left back. Left back? Right wing back. Championship winning right wing back, outstanding for Chelsea that year. Arnoutovic is a mecurial talent but has never hit that level of consistency which is why he continues to play for a club with mid table (maybe Europa League) expectations and not top six.

I don't care what position Moses played for Chelsea that season, nobody will ever be able to tell me that he's as good a footballer as Arnautovic. I could reel off a shit load of names of footballers who have featured heavily for championship winning teams who like Moses, aren't in Arnautovic's league when it comes to talent and ability on a football pitch. His stats over the last 12 months stack up against most of the best players in this league, and everything good that West Ham do goes through him, and I know who I'd rather have in my side.

Because Scholes had raised concerns as he should and would do. Should? If what you're saying is true then maybe Gary should raise concerns about how Scholes is running the commercial side of the business, just to even things up a bit? Maybe he should ask questions about how this multi million pound business was led silently away from the big league and hundreds of millions of pounds worth of TV money per season under his stewardship? I'm sure that will go down well. Why would Rowett be allowed to ask that of his boss the CEO? Whether we like it or not Scholes is the CEO and has an input in everything. Eventually the board gives a go ahead on transfers but every CEO is involved in transfers at all clubs. I think some stoke fans have got a bit carried away in thinking Scholes isn’t a CEO, Telling Rowett what formation of team to play is of course not in Scholes remit, but transfers are for sure as it’s about value for money and a manager can’t be trusted on that score.

Swansea is further away than brentford.

For sure that can play a part when a young footballer makes an important decision, but other things as mentioned before are as or more important.

When we made our approach it took him less than an hour to decide he was coming. He may well have gone to Swansea. Who knows. Had he done it would have been because we hadn't made an approach and not because he preferred them over us.
