With McClean out and also to make room for Bojan, could Saido play on the wing? I certainly think our team could benefit from the creativity we then install in our team. ................................Butland................................. Bauer..............Shawcross..............Indi..................Clucas ..........................Woods.......Etebo.............................. Ince............................Bojan...........................Berahino ................................Afobe................................... No room for Allen!!!???? Let me think about that. NO

Chris Greenacre syndrome. We are determined to ruin players careers by playing them in positions they’ve NEVER PLAYED before. That’s like asking a customer service manager to produce a complex P&L. You don’t do it in business so don’t do it in football. Afobe on the wing... jees Chris Greenacre, yes so many similarities with Berahino, namely that both couldn’t find the net

He can barely do the job he's supposed to do let alone do one as a winger.
It's a no from me. I'm out!

It would help if they got chances to score, that's both Berahino & afobe. I wouldn't swap either for anyone in this league, our problem is creating chances we have probably 2 of the best finishers in the league

He's played pretty well as a second striker/inside forward/number ten.
If he really had broken his goal scoring hoodoo he should do well as the main striker,or in a pair with some creativity (Bojan,Ince or Etebo) Can't see him on the wing really.

If the op had actually watched him play he wouldn't ask such a stupid question. Leave Saido in the number 10 role I can see a potent understanding with efobe developing

It had crossed my mind that to shoehorn Woods, Etebo AND Allen in to the team he might go 4-3-3 with Berahino, Afobe and Ince up top.
Which would make Saido a sort of winger

No He is a waste of a squad number, whatever position he plays in. Recent evidence suggests otherwise. Time will tell, the goal he scored the other week reminded me of the one Souleymane Oulare scored for us..

No, Pulis stuck him there for a bit when he was at West Brom and he was shocking. Pulis stuck Fuller out on the wing in his last ever game for us....that was shocking as well!!! From Pulis that is!!!

I don't think he is hard enough to play on the wing
Harry redknapp used to say George Best was the hardest player , he ever saw , and would ride tackles that would have sent himself straight to the treatment room , during his playing days .
Fast forward to 2018 and you could say similar of the obviously muscular Cristiano Ronaldo or the deceptively muscular mo salah
I could imagine a Matty etherington , an Arnie , even an admittedly less talented James McLean , having a real battle against an Andy Wilkinson or Phil bardsley type, but berahino (! ) I just don't think he has got it in him .
Mind you , Tom ince looks lightweight to me , and he crops up on the wing for stoke

No he’s not quick enough and doesn’t have skills to beat a man out wide. He’s doing pretty well this season but prior to this season he wasn’t even doing well in his natural position at striker so why on earth anyone would even consider the possibility of shifting him into a position that is completely alien to him is beyond me. Because we're a winger short?

Again though, the logic is very fuzzy isn’t it? We’re a winger down, so let’s take someone who isn’t a winger, and is currently playing well in his current position, out of that position to play on the wing? Despite him possessing none of the attributes to succeed there?

No
If we haven't got a winger play a system that does without a winger. Clucas is a left sided midfielder - play him on the left in a more withdrawn role and push Berahino forward and inside to support the main striker where he'll be of more use. And regardless of your opinion of him as a person he's actually been one of the successes of this season so far.
Adapt the system to the available players rather than players to the system that doesn't suit them.

Yep, as soon as he wants them gone it seems they get stuck out on the left, its a strange way of doing it really.
