With McClean out and also to make room for Bojan, could Saido play on the wing? I certainly think our team could benefit from the creativity we then install in our team. ................................Butland................................. Bauer..............Shawcross..............Indi..................Clucas ..........................Woods.......Etebo.............................. Ince............................Bojan...........................Berahino ................................Afobe................................... No room for Allen!!!????

No he’s not quick enough and doesn’t have skills to beat a man out wide.
He’s doing pretty well this season but prior to this season he wasn’t even doing well in his natural position at striker so why on earth anyone would even consider the possibility of shifting him into a position that is completely alien to him is beyond me.

I think Rowett's viewpoint is that in order to make a success of Championship games you first need to demonstrate that you can compete physically with the opposition in order to earn the right to play a bit.
To that end my sense is that attempting to shoehorn 3 talented but essentially lightweight players in Berahino, Bojan and Ince in to the same starting line up is not anywhere on his agenda.
It's also explains why he has brought more industrial players like Clucas and Woods in to the set up.
We're going to cut out the defensive errors and start toughing this thing out if its the last thing he does!

What would he bring to the role exactly? The only thing I can see is he'd vacate the position for Bojan, why people try to shoe horn everyone in I don't know, for me he's doing well where he is, leave him there, he has a bad game or two drop him and give someone else a chance, its not as if Bojan has shown enough to deserve a place over him.

Agreed, I'm a big believer in playing players who are in form, and he's playing well at the moment.

Bloody hell, he's only just started looking like an actual striker again recently and now you want to shift him to the wing?!

I'm all in favour of the idea...as long as we can move Bojan to CB and play Butland as a false 9 as well

Play players where they're meant to play, we've played with square pegs in round holes for 2.5 years and been absolute garbage because of it
I'm still yet to see any other top flight striker go from starting up front, to outwide, to right wing back to the bench.

Chris Greenacre syndrome. We are determined to ruin players careers by playing them in positions they’ve NEVER PLAYED before.
That’s like asking a customer service manager to produce a complex P&L. You don’t do it in business so don’t do it in football.
Afobe on the wing... jees

Shotton was RB then moved to right wing, despite starting as a kiddy up front. Pulis proved with Shotton it can work. Oh, then again......

Big No from me aswell.
We have two potentially very good goalscorers as strikers, something which we havnt had for years.
Fit them both in the 11 for me in a 442 or 532 with wingbacks
