Why should they hide from their mistakes? They are paid a fortune not to make them and they are repeating themselves week after week. Mistakes are only serious if they happen more than once!!!!!!!!

He said all of them didn't he? He named Ryan's error as an example. I'd be fine with it if I was responsible and I was in a job where everyone could tell I was responsible. I see nothing wrong with it to be honest. The players have needed this for a while, and they have absolutely no recourse to be annoyed with Rowett for saying it because nothing he has said is false. I didn’t say it was false. They have reason to be aggrieved that his mentioned them by name. Why hasn’t he been so forthright with poor performances before? I think he has to be honest, he's always said that defensive mistakes have cost us, which they have. This week probably smarts more because we were generally good defensively vs Swansea and we've been working on basic defending in training for so long. Sometimes players need calling out. Ryan doesn't because everyone saw the mistakes he made, it's not like a normal job, this happens in the full public view.

I’m sorry, I can’t fucking work the guy out. I can’t see how he’s trying to set us up, can’t see whether he wants us to be a tough, uncompromising unit, or a technically superior footballing team, he said today that his sides have always been built on defence, well this one isn’t. I can’t see what it’s being built on currently, it most definitely isn’t superior in any department, accept on paper and levelled against some of the better sides in the division, it doesn’t even boss that. Not that football is won on paper. We (he) have got massive problems, and I feel the buck lies with him, he’s the one fingers will start to point to, he’s the one talking the talk and not delivering. I think Stoke’s too big a job for this man, no one expected him to pull up trees at Brum, possibly not at Derby either, at Stoke they really do. Last season I wanted him to replace Hughes in the Premier League but when he was appointed as our Championship manager I felt it sent out the wrong message. I think we needed to make a statement of intent yet Rowett is very much a Championship manager, making us very much a Championship outfit (if that makes sense) we should have gone all out for a bigger name, truly making us the big fish. Sorry, I’ve edited this post as I’d had a drink last night and felt there was more to say.

There are problems at the club that go further than the manager. He is trying to change the mentality of a club that has been in decline for atleast 2 years and it was never going to be an easy fix. Granted we all wanted more change in the summer but he has taken over at a time when few managers could make a success of us so Im just being patient with this season and hopefully GR gets the same tune out of this team that we saw at the first half at Sheff Wednesday on a consistent basis.

His interview after the game at least shows he knows he's knee deep in shit after that abomination of a defensive performance.
Ryan will be dropped, maybe Bruno and Erik too.
I hope we sign Collins, partner him with Williams, play Cuco left and Bauer right. We cannot keep picking the same players to make the same mistakes, as he acknowledged.

He's in a situation now though that saves his skin.he will make changes for the cup and then state if they don't work that we need to get experience back in the squad and put shawcross back in. Still think even though he's singled Ryan out it will be Bruno who gets the chop and Williams in.

Well after that interview tonight we will have to see how his team responds. Hopefully it will respond very well, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if he has now "lost the team". If he hasn't already ....

Hand the reigns over to Mark Sale (ex-player and big fan) temporarily, and take adequate time in bringing in the RIGHT manager, not some fuckin panic job again like Lambert!!!

No chance he’ll play Bauer after his comments on the radio. I guess it has to be Edwards RB, Cuco LB (until Clucas is fit) and 2 from Williams, BMI and Souttar at CB. Erik and esp. Ryan seem certain to be dropped.

As limited a manager as Lambert was, you always felt that, after casting aside the bad apples, the group of players he was working with were at the very least playing for him. You don't however get the impression that the current team plays for Rowett, and whilst players are clearly underperforming and deserve to be criticised by the supporters and the media, his decision to join in the furore and publicly single out names for criticism today seems like the sign of a man who is totally out of his depth and at a loss as to how to turn this around. At the very least we looked defensively stronger (in a tougher league!) under Lambert, and were it not for a few unfortunate permutations against us we would've survived.
The last few years have been defined by a succession of poor decisions from the very top. I don't think letting Lambert leave was a bad decision on its own, but to then go in for Rowett after he had rejected us a few months earlier, and when we were in our hour of greatest need no less, is truly shocking leadership from the decision makers and is making Lambert's sacking look like an awful move. We're fools for getting married to the person who jilted us at the altar.
I've heard Rowett wasn't Peter Coates' choice but was in fact Coates Junior's preference. If it was at all possible to get Allardyce in the Summer then it's a travesty we didn't go balls out for him, especially when you consider the amount of money we've spunked on shit players in recent years. And if Allardyce is available then I'd be delighted to fuck Rowett off today. Unfortunately, coming to Stoke City now has to be much less of an attractive proposition than it would've been in June so maybe that ship has sailed. Even if we got Allardyce in tomorrow I still don't think this squad would be capable of anything more than consolidation with a view to trying again next year. It's so fucking depressing.

I’d take Lambert now, can’t see that we’d be in the mess we are currently, under him. Disagree about Mark Sale, there’s only Rory and Kevin Phillips I’d like to keep out of Rowett’s band of merry men, but there you go.

slate your players in public and you're on a slippery slope All those things should be kept in house as team respect
He's going to lose respect of the players if (if he hasng already) if they think he's gonna go to the media every time we lose and blame one or two of them
Rowett needs to take it like a man and keep his dummy in

The majority of fans certainly seem to have lost both respect and faith in Rowett even at this early stage. He shows no sign of sorting this squad out or, worryingly, even the potential to do so.

I think thaat if Rowett is still in charge at the end of the eason we will see a massive drop in season ticket sales and crowds of around 12 to 14000, this will be the main reason that the board will be forced to make a decision at Xmas as those numbers and the potential drop in season ticket sales do not make Stoke a viable proposition in the Championship.
