Been confirmed as only being a loan to January with an option to buy, not an obligation.

Was James O'Connor our last ginger midfielder? If so then I hope this lad becomes the legend that Super James did.

2:51pm....Ladies & Gentlemen, its our favourite villains Carto & Scholes So......... Ones a psychopath hell bent on revenge yet always is foiled and doomed to failure The other an amoral, cynical people pleaser who has never succeeded beyond a low level local children's entertainer, also a failure 🤔 Sounds about right 😁

James O'Connor always gave 110% for the cause, even if he was technically limited. From what I've seen of Woods (not much!), he's a class above James O'Connor in passing ability. More of a defensive-playmaker type than a chaser.

Hmm. Maybe it isn't obligatory. At least neither team is keen to describe it publicly that way (maybe not to be seen to completely abuse the loan loophole?) Presumably it'd only be an issue if he suffered a bad injury.... www.brentfordfc.com/news/2018/august/woods-leaves-25.08.18/"Ryan has been a brilliant player for us since he signed on the last day of the transfer window in 2015. I think all parties have felt for a while that this summer would be the right moment for him to move on to a new challenge. There was interest from other clubs earlier in the window but Stoke seems like the right move at the right time for both Ryan and Brentford. I fully expect the option to be triggered in January and so we wish Ryan well for his future career.”

Would they have loaned him to us unless we had agreed to buy him in January? No, I really don't think so!

The option essentially means a fee has been agreed and, should we wish to do so, we have the option to sign him permanently.

how come brentford have let such a talent to go out on loan, or be prepared to sell him,as Ryan been out injured, and couldn't get back in the team,or was he playing, did he play against us,do you think it was the size of the fee that we have offered for him, that made Brentford finally cave in, just asking.

The absolute cynic in me says that it will be dependent on our ability to shift Imbula or Ndiaye out (preferably both) to raise some cash and have some breathing space in the wage budget. But hopefully that's not the case and he's ours regardless of any outgoings.

Pulis was the best thing to happen for Stoke in the club's modern era! At what year does the modern era commence ? When he joined. It ended when he left.

It's the model they are based on - buy talent ridiculously cheap, sell them on at a healthy profit. He's been on their bench this season and they feel they've got enough cover and will make a healthy return on their investment. They bought him for a rumoured £100k; we're likely to end up paying anything north of £6.5m. Not a bad bit of business!

Ryan wasn't playing for them as he was expected to go to Swansea. That deal collapsed (over the fee?) and he played his first league game of the season last week Then we stepped in and did the deal for a million more than they offered. That's how I understand the situation.
