Ah, but the thing is theloony1 - bayern called me a moron, not miggo You made a moronic comment! 😂 One that summed up the attitude of the police in football games nicely tbh. They are the biggest thugs in football. Bayern you make moronic comments numerous times a day - but we just let it pass ..... and you just made another one "the police are the biggest thugs in football".

Well this has made my day. I was a bit grumpy before all of this happened. So the police form a line. The fans form their line. The police draw their gas. The fans carry on regardless...... ..... and are now complaining .... The police should never enter a concourse like that. It’s absolutely shite policing.

You’ve gotta love some fans. They come the big almighty, throw ale etc, throw things at police, mouth off go for go at them etc. Yet the police respond and fans start crying. Happened at Leeds and happened at many grounds last season. This new breed of young dickhead are pathetic. Stone island coat on and they think they are the bollocks. First sign of trouble run like fuck and post it on twitter etc they have been badly treated Tbh, seen it myself today( not the pepper spray incident) but fans waiting for any player mistake, substitution they didn’t like to have a pissed up rant.

To be fair the police won't have much experience about what can happen if they cause football fans to panic in a confined area. It's never received much publicity or really been talked about.

From now on, fans should be allowed to run riot (and injure children), without any recourse or constraint.

Be interesting to get Malcolm Clarke 's take on this. I'm not sure where I stand on it just based on that short clip. There appear to be some folks giving it large facing off to the police but the pepper spray? I've never seen it used at a football match before and I've been around a long time in the proximity of many flash points away from home down the years. Is it normal for the police to carry it? Is it often used at football matches or was this a real exception? How toxic is it and how far might it spread? I don't know the answer to any of that stuff. I wouldn't hold my breath on the police officers internal inquiry referred to earlier which sounds like the police investigating themselves but if the FSF and their legal people got involved it could be interesting. A welcome distraction from our current on field ineptitude if nothing else! Good evening Godfrey. I didn’t go on the concourse at halftime and was in blissful ignorance of all this until I got home and looked at my phone to find a text from the FSF caseworker asking if I’m ok ! As you will see from the police statement above the FSF will be involved in the police investigation. I would ask that any Stoke fans who were affected should send a full statement to the police as they have requested but please also copy it to the FSF caseworker at Amanda.Jacks@fsf.org.uk We will ensure that all the relevant issues are properly investigated and take whatever action is appropriate. It is of course relevant to look at both the behaviour of our fans and the appropriateness of the police response to that. I have a general concern based on some things which the FSF has heard that we are now visiting grounds which we haven’t visited for a decade or more and that some clubs and police forces may have outdated preconceptions about Stoke fans given our past reputation. I did actually decide to telephone our club about this worry given that today’s game was potentially higher risk given a large away following and the late kick off giving extra pre-match drinking time. Sadly my fear of a higher than usual risk of problems appears to have been well founded.

The fans carry on regardless...... ..... and are now complaining .... Right..... So the people who are held to a significantly higher standard (supposedly) are also allowed to pepper spray random fuckers who are 'below them'? Police are supposedly better than us lot but it's ok for them to act completely inappropriately because hey, why not? And right..... I mean there's zero chance of police persecution at all..... Right?

Interesting thought Malcolm on us visiting ground where we have not been for 10+ years and possible outdated preconceptions. You wouldn't need to be an expert in human behaviour to think this would be very likely an issue!

Pepper spray is a great deterrent when things are getting out of hand but this wasn't out of hand at all. The police these days don't feel as reliable as they used to and for some, that's saying a lot. More bothered about unfair play rather than it being a fair cop. Easy targets, crap police.

Diabolical use of an incapcitant spray. In direct contradiction to the ACPO guidelines on the use of it. Spraying without any concern for who it might affect. I bet you a million pounds no one was offered advice on how to treat themselves once affected (part of ACPO guidelines). It can, in certain circumstances kill someone. I also bet you a million pounds some police sympathisers will be out blaming anyone but them and saying what a good job they do. Biggest gang in the UK. Authorised to carry firearms and weapons that can kill. Protected from criticism. Ridiculous. Just another Police hating tosser who's got no respect for the brave men and women that try to keep us all safe. That bravery shown again just last week with the attemted terror attack at Westmister. Police running into the situation without a moments thought for their own safety. You really thing they are a gang out there looking for trouble? Unbelievable. I bet every one of them went to the match hoping it would all pass off peacefully and they wouldnt have to do anything. But then dick heads happen. Why were these Stoke fans even starting on the police. Its just pathetic. I've got more respect for the police than police hating tossers who don't like them because they stop them from doing criminal activities. Let me tell you i'm a law abiding person who has never given the police any bother inside or outside a football satdium, and guess what. They never give me any bother back either.

I expect those people given great powers over the public as a whole to utilise those powers with the utmost discretion and integrity. They didn't do that here did they? Children and unsuspecting members of the public recieved injury as a direct result of the actions of those officers. Yet because they might have once dealt with something with integrity, honesty and bravery they are beyond reproach when then don't?

I was at St. Andrews in 1990 - to watch Nick Faldo win the open and the police there were very well behaved. I thought the incident at St. Andrews (Birmingham) was in early 1992?
Regarding the pepper spray incident at PNE: Yes, we (like every club) have our share of young knobs who are kitted out in their Stone Island clobber who give it the big un but would shat themselves at the site of some of the mad shit that I experienced in the early 90s BUT the use of pepper spray in a confined concourse with no opposing fans in the vicinity is an absolute disgrace! Hold your heads in shame Lancs constabulary!!! Police investigating police - erm, I wonder what the result of that will be?!

Police are trained to use every weapon at their disposal. Many of them are itching to use them. They try to find a situation which they can justify it. I don't know the facts of this case but I do not blindly give police the benefit of the doubt. I know too many policemen personally.

I've never been pepper sprayed in my life because I prefer to stay in my seat at half time. Anyone who goes on the concourse deserves to be pepper sprayed. Innocent children getting hit with the stuff? Well they should have stayed put so fuck 'em, etc, etc Brilliant! I hope you never need a piss at HT...you thick cunt And a very well deserved "whoosh" for you Mr Tribe! Don't worry you are in good company - the latest research shows that a significant number of Stoke fans think irony is how mummy manages to get the creases out of their shirts!

That seemed to be a bit OTT in my opinion but I truly believe that the police need to get tougher with regards to anti social behaviour. We've steadily become far too soft in recent years and it's had a massive impact on society in general. People are no longer scared of committing a crime and have zero respect for the communities in which they live. This needs to stop! In my opinion, the clip shows a few young lads who think they're untouchable because they know that it will be filmed and it will be exposed at some point. The police should have arrested the ones who were being confrontational and given them a slap. That way, innocent people don't end up hurt. If you're going to give it the 'big one' expect consequences. Simple. If the Police had done that at the likes of Wigan, all hell would have broken loose. Our current 'firm' probably scattered like mice and couldn't wait to tell everyone how they had been ill treated. They're the new breed of Stoke hooligan 😂. I'm just sorry that innocent people got hurt and hope that a full investigation is carried out.

Disgusting behaviour in this day and age, it should be about football... Not about me explaining to my kid he's going to be safe.
