Anyone who chose Berahino wants sectioning. Anyonw who chose Geoff or Choupo, today's news suggests they are personae non grata. Anyone who chose Sam, he is out for another month. After all that, we need 3 quality loans to try to help to stop the rot. For me, defensive midfielder, winger and forward. I'd take a new left back too, if one's going. Let's see what XI we can put together by the end of August. Yes. At the moment we can only laborate with the players actually here. 3-5 loan signs would be great, I expect 2.

Maybe we should play 2-3-5 as they did in the old days, WAY BACK, when there weren't that much of defensive strategies? ---------- Butland ---------- ----- Shawcross-Williams ---- Bauer ----- Etebo ---- Clucas Ince-Berah-Afobe-Crouch-McCl. Oh, Happy days! Genuis. Youve actually chosen a variant of one of the classic formations from th 1860s - www.football-bible.com/soccer-info/old-football-formations.html(Too cautious for the modern day, surely - can't you move Bauer and Clucas into your front 5....?) Looks nice, doesn't it. Yes, Bauer and Clucas could be up there instead. It depends what Aug will bring us. 👍

Before we can come up with any tactics or formations this team is crying out for a central midfielder who is vocal has a physical presence and is able to dictate play, until we find him either within the current squad or via the loan market we are a ship without a rudder.

Let's be honest, we're a mess right now...
If it were me (ant it isn't)...
Butland
Williams - Shawcross - BMI
Bauer - Allen - Etebo - McClean
Bojan - Afobe - Ince
We have to play further up the pitch. We need cover on the right where Bauer is getting found out too frequently and we need to pose more of an attacking threat, which we have painfully not done since the start of the season. It's no good bemoaning the midfield, they're being told to play on the toes of the defenders and it isn't working, our front men are running themselves into the ground trying to press with no support whatsoever, meaning they're either knackered in the final third of the game or they're getting pulled. But...
* They're not as fit as they should be * The system isn't working * We're not looking even close to dominating games, despite our personnel.
I'm bemused as to our procurement strategy. Clucas doesn't solve anything, he's a swiss army knife of a footballer in a squad that has specific issues that needed addressing. The front 7 HAVE to start playing further up the pitch, and we have to seriously look at our options off the bench, right now we're back to throwing crouchy on and hoping for the best, and that's not where we should be. I'm yet to see a cohesive strategy and this, combined with our clear lack of fitness compared to those around us is a massive concern for me.
And that ain't Scholes fault.

To me it doesn't really look like physical fitness it's mental sharpness that seems to be the issue, both Leeds and Brentford left us chasing shadows, seemingly unable to get into the game and when we did get the ball errors in simple basic technique meant we didn't keep it for long. Now I am not usually one to quickly panic, I kept faith in Hughes for about 3 months too long, but given the lack of reaction GR got from the players after the defeat to Leeds I am to say the least worried.

Alot, weve somehow managed to assemble a side worse than last seasons Well of course we have - we're in the Championship. Did anyone seriously think we would end up with a better squad than last season? The reality is if you get demoted even if you spend money you will end up with worse players and a weaker squad.

With the players here, and who look to be staying here, that is the most sensible formation and XI to adopt right now. Even with Bruno injured, Erik could do an okay job at left sided defender.

Too many senior players are going hiding. Its not about ability right now but about BELIEF and standing up to be counted. We need some confidence on the ball and players who are not scared.
Pieters, Shawcross, Allen, Bauer are playing well below the level they should be at. But lack of options means we cant drop them all. McClean is just not a footballer so we need an alternative wing option. Time to turn to some youth
Butland
Edwards Williams BMI Pieters
Fletcher Etebo
Ince Bojan Diouf
Afobe
