No and yes. Even players I don't like, I praise them where I think they've done good. The made something from nothing is irrelevant if you can't do the actual skilled part. So you're coming round to him already then, good news I seriously look forward to your first praise of McClean. I seriously look forward to McClean doing something worthy of celebration. History would suggest this could be a long, long wait.

History would suggest this could be a long, long wait. Similar stats to Bojan over the past couple of years but people are still hanging their coat on his peg, aren't they? I also look forward to it, if only to see who will actually give praise where it's due - and who will be too stubborn to admit.

john terry was not as skilful as carvahlo , azpilicueta , Alonso , david luiz etc etc
he was still the first name on their team sheet , every match for over a decade
you need attitude in a team , as well as skill

Bojan scored 3 in 9 for Stoke in 2016/17 since then injury, loss of form and a lack of a stable team have been factors in his decline. McClean scored 4 in 99 for WBA since 2015/16. How similar do those stats look to you? McClean is a very limited footballer who {if you believe the Baggies forum} very few fans of his last club were sad to see go. Most can't believe the how well they did with the fee. I really hope GR is right on this one.

Most can't believe the how well they did with the fee. I really hope GR is right on this one. It's all a game of opinions, isn't it? I know several WBA fans who thought McClean was their best player last season - depends who you ask, doesn't it? Bojan hasn't been selected consistently - for a reason. McClean has been selected for every team he's played for consistently - for a reason. The past 2 stoke managers have thrown Bojan to the curb, the past 2 WBA managers have played McClean in every game he's fit. You can look into the stats and extrap what you want from them. Neither's stats have the lit the world up, is my point - little end product from either of them whichever way you look at it. McClean will be a great player for this club, I'm convinced of it, and despite lack of end product yesterday - he's on track for me. He's played a handful of times and has looked one of our brightest sparks every time.

He looks as if he tries very hard, primarily because his touch is so poor. Doesn't look s natural footballer at all. Compared to Matty Etherington it is like watching a reliant robin

Tried hard, got stuck in...shame he isn't able to control the football or pass it to someone wearing the same coloured shirt. Listening to the game, it sounds as though he may have picked up his passing skills from those around him. The times we lost the ball after a couple of passes was unbelievable. Seems as though the instruction to Shawx and BMI was to hoof the ball up as soon as you get it. No attempt was made to play it out or find a man. Nothing seems to have changed from last season.

I was watching on a dodgy stream so might be wrong but didn't he take someone on and then play a clever pass into Ince for the penalty?

he got the ball , crossed to ince , penalty and goal he won the ball , tried to slip in afobe and messed it up and he got back brilliantly to prevent a certain goal when pieters was done for ( unfortunately leeds scored from the corner )
so , he chucked his weight around and had an impact at both ends of the pitch ( a stoke goal scored and a leeds one prevented )
Which in my book , means he contributed more, than quite a few of his team mates

Pretty shite today.
He looks like he gives a fuck so you have to give him that, but he's got the touch of a rapist-elephant. Terrible at crossing. Booted the ball straight into his defender at least six times rather than making any real effort to beat him.
Hmmm.

And not an inaccurate one, based on what we've seen so far...

Please can we beg Choupo to stay. McClean is absolutely woeful. Can’t control a ball, can’t pass, can’t cross, can’t shoot, can’t use his right foot, can’t beat a man. What exactly does he do

Seriously....WTF does he offer???
He's NOT a winger.... he loses the ball every single time he gets it.... and he certainly can't beat a man, just runs into them!!!
Honestly can't see the point in this signing!!!

McClean was absolutely woeful today, he gave away possession numerous times from promising positions.
WBA fans came on here telling us how he gives away stupid free kicks in dangerous positions and that was a part of his game I wasn't aware of. I am after today.

Of course he was poor, he's a poor footballer. As told before we even signed him.

His crossing today was awful.
I think it might help him if he actually had a look to see where players were before crossing it instead of after.

I couldn't believe how poor he was today he kept cutting inside to change feet couldn't take his man on and crosses were dire, really average footballer, but he tries hard!!!! I never remembered him for WBA when we played them in the Premmnow I know why!

Needs to do better with the ball at his feet. At the moment only Ince looks capable of creating something out of nothing.

Just glad we didn’t spend all summer chasing his signature and at least he wasn’t our number one left winger priority.

Many were happy with him against Leeds, but I only saw the 2nd half, and thought he was shit then as well.
