So we’re making a meal of signing the cheapo left back. Excellent. Its genuinely becoming farcical - we seem unable to deliver on any of the managers requests Davies - No Gayle - No Richie - No Chester - No Knudsen - No Apart from Federici, Afobe, Ince, Maclean, Williams of course

Stoke have been chasing another left-back to offer competition for Erik Pieters, with Ipswich’s Jonas Knudsen a prime target. Knudsen has also been gaining attention from Middlesbrough. Rowett also wants another forward option.

I am not convinced we still want him with Clucas lined up, GR may prefer to wet his whistle with another midfielder & Clucas can drop in if needed. I think he has been happy to have Eric as his first choice from the off & i see him as having more courage in his conviction than chucking everything out of the window after one game. I think he has decided to prioritize elsewhere.
I also think this is perhaps why we haven't moved for a Douglas or Bryan ( as far as i know anyway ), Eric is more defensive minded than the aforementioned & i think GR would see that as a decent balance allowing for Bauer & his more attacking instincts on the left. Team can swing this way, almost into a 3 with McClean dropping deeper ( high energy & work rate make him ideal for this, hence why i think we bought him ). Exploiting Moritz on the outside of an inside forward, initially Ritchie, ultimately Ince. MB could be critical this year as a real quality wing back if you like on one side of the pitch is quite common in successful teams on this league. See Fredricks, Trippier, Taylor, Douglas, all with lots of assists. I believe MB has more than enough in the locker to do this for us.

It’s taken a week to get nowhere. Going off random paper talk yes, but as we don't actually know anything you can't really say, how do we know another target hasn't come up instead and we've stalled the Knudsen one, this is the problem with rumours, too much is taken from them and people get impatient because some paper has said we're after so and so and it isn't done in a few days, most of the time they don't know much more than us.

The dead wood is hurting us a lot I would have thought. No question but two things really annoy me about that: 1) its completely our fault, and demonstrates absolutely attrocious due diligence in repeatedly signing unsuitable players and offering ridiculous contract extensions (its like we're playing the opposite of moneyball) 2) if we truly meant we would throw everything at returning at the first attempt we would be signing the key targets whether we moved these players on or not - while financially horrible for this season it would pay for itself upon promotion... we have to remove the poison no matter what the cost anyway - better to replace it with the key players the manager wants

Have stoke come out and said we want him, have they come out and said we've put it on hold for other options, have they come out and said we've canned it, its all pure guess work and thats the problem a lot of the time with a quite a bit of the criticism against the club, its mostly based on rumour and guess work.

It's not always based on that either. Most of it is just regurgitated stuff with a lot of people jumping on the bandwagon. No matter what the club do, it will annoy somebody. Heaven forbid that anyone doesn't toe the accepted line on club management Even on here, they cannot agree on recommended players, there must have been over 50 mentioned, many with no basis just hanging on the words of articles on NewsNow and random overseas quotes. There are faults within the club but I wouldn't trust most on here to run a bloody whelk stall - strange how we wouldn't think of telling the bosses at British Aerospace how to run their businesses yet we're all experts at how to run a successful football club. YCNMIU!

We were after another left back from the Championship but doesn’t look like it’ll happen anymore. Reason being is if we signing Clucas, he will provide the cover at left back.
Knudsen has not been our first choice target at left back for the past week.

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/live-stoke-city-transfer-news-1876468Transfer news: Ipswich expect Jonas Knudsen to stayStraight from Paul Hurst’s press conference at Ipswich Town on Stoke target, the left-back Jonas Knudsen. He said: “As we sit here I don’t think anyone will be leaving but it’s a transfer window and you’re never quite sure. “I expect Jonas, 100 per cent, to be here.“I think it will be as you are with the squad going forward.”
