The current squad without Butland would be 12th ish.....one or two critical injuries in central midfield and we'd be even lower. Need 3 or 4 quality signings in key positions and to sort out the keeper situation.

We are going to be in League One by 2012/22 season.
I'm not sure we'll do a Sunderland this year & have successive relegations, but I reckon we'll finish 16th.
Ps - I predicted Premier League relegation within 2 years when we got rid of Pulis & was only a few years out. We had everything & gave it all away & we're never going to get it back!

With the money we have spent, are committed to spend and looking to spend, then nothing short of a promotion push is acceptable.
Rowett has come here to get us promoted, end of story. He has to do it if he is backed accordingly by Coates and his pygmies.
We'll finish 3rd I reckon.

Depends how tight it is at the top end, first to fourth, right now fancy first (as do the bookies).

I think we'll win the league. We're owed. We never win fuck all. Worst case is PO. Rowett is going to have to carry some burden of expectation this season, and rightly so. I think he will deliver.

I think though that it will be more binary than Stokealona stuff
Dunner care whilst in the second tier --- it has to be about going up and trying to become the playground bullies ( main reason I am very happy about the Mclean buy )

Any one of around 14 clubs in the premier league are capable of being relegated in any given year, so your prediction, even though wrong I might add, had a good chance of coming true. Anyway, I`ll adopt your measure of prediction success and say that Stoke City will get promoted back to the premier league within the next 5 years. If, of course, they manage to get promoted either this season, next season or either of the following 2 seasons, then I too will excitedly claim that I too was only a few years out !

As Lambert was tasked, Rowett is here to do one job, anything less than that is failure. I just on't think we've got enough about us. We just haven't got enough about us. I believe we will finish 7th.

Still think play offs at best unless more decent signings. Can’t see lots of goals and creativity is lacking. If Butland goes we will finish mid to lower end.

You just cannot begin to underestimate the difficulty of competing in the Championship! After watching the game against Wolves it was very clear to me that we are struggling in the centre of defence. I would like Indi to stay but I think he has not made his mind up. Shawcross played poorly compared to standards he previously set. Both are injury prone and we have no experienced competition. I would love to see Ndiaye, Etebo and Allen as a committed midfield three but once again NDiaye wants out! Ince, Afobe and McClean are going to be a handful for many sides but no quality cover as yet. I like most Stoke fans hope we can go back up into the Premiership but at present far to many ifs and buts to suggest anything higher than mid table.

Relegation battle. New owners from January 2019. Lambert back in February. Finish 19th. Wow, that was depressing! 😂 Or actually ... almost realistic. 19th? 🤔 I thought I wrote that because we didn't get TWO new strikers in. Just Afobe came. So, it's all up to them now: a striker in or not.

Just found my original post in July - I thought at the time, "am i being too pessimisitc here?"
9th-13th
Expect a bad start before stability and hopes of the playoff, before tailing off again at the end.
For me we needed an overhaul, but for that needed to start from 5th May on. Ship out the old guard, raise funds and rebuild with a younger team that had several of the best of the Championship
Too many players, who bombed, are being polished to go again. (Beharinho should have been moved-on, excluded or shot. Every attempt made to shift Adam, Fletcher, Diouf, Imbula, Bojan + Ireland, Johnson etc Young players loaned.
Mistakes not addressed, notably not buying players early enough. (The stats on this, to me, are compelling on the volume and speed that recently promoted teams have generally recruited at: 8 new faces and 80% of business done by now)
Set against this, Rowett will be too organised to have us in trouble
We have more quality than most (though we won't be automatically be a better team just because they don't have household names), but the team will take time to gel as the new team will need to learn on the job
