I'm obviously getting old because this 'Joe Allen is crap' thing the kids like to say these days is something I just don't see at all. I thought he was head and shoulders above everyone else last season.
I like Shaqiri and he's provided some of the best and exciting moments of our time in the Premier League but I've always felt he was holding back a bit with us. I expected him to be an absolute superstar and he's been patchy. The system hasn't always helped him but he's never really regularly terrorised teams in the way Arnie or even Ric could. Given his reputation, he's been a bit of a disappointment over all. That said, I could see him going to a big club where there's no place to hide and turning it on.

Its a pointless question because Shaq is leaving because he will be able to find another Prem club and Allen is staying because he cant get another Prem club. Simple really.
There isn't really a choice.

There isn't really a choice. I don't think Allen would have much trouble finding another Prem club if he made it known he wanted out. Didn't we turn down a £25m bid in Jan for him?

I saw this thread title and for some reason I now have the tune of "Young, gifted and Black" running through my head. I wish it would stop.

I pick the player who wants to play for our club and who is prepared to fight for 90 minutes every game. I pick the player who is massively underrated against the player who is massively overrated. One of them epitomises everything that is wrong with our club at the moment and one of them represents the qualities and the character that will be needed in every position of the park next season. Really? Everything wrong with the club? The problem with the club is we refused to have more than one Shaqiri-level player in the team at once cause we were so fucking scared of dropping people like Crouch and Darren Bloody Fletcher. Yes everything wrong with our club 100%.. Very talented yes, but did not turn up for half the games and was a liability at times and nearly always defensively. Must have been shite for team morale a few players had a sideswipe at him in the media. Shit attitude got booed off the park on more than 1 occasion: on the new year day game against Newcastle he literally never broke into a canter once and was taken off after 55 mins and everybody in the crowd got on their feet to boo him off - and it was not just a few It was everybody. He was not the only lazy twat in our ranks who thought he was too good to play for us, but he certainly epitomised the rot that had set in and all the characterless twats we had/have in our ranks. I doubt he would get a look in under the new manager should he still be here - and I don't see our new manager spending any time trying to entice him to stay like he has been doing with Allen & Shawcross

They’re very good players on their day They both also leave us very vulnerable when it’s not their day
....Not really fussed about eitherif I’m honest. If I was pushed I’d say Joe...because he’s not so full of himself

Joe Allen, even though he loses the ball too often in the middle of the park.
Shaqiri could be very annoying with his gestures all the time. He doesn't encourage the other players out there. I hope he finds his room at another place, Crystal P perhaps?

It’s the Championship for f*cks sake. Why on earth would we expect to be able to carry a half arsed Shaqiri for 46 games?
