It's an odd thing to have an opinion on,but I like the old (current seats). I have a bad back and for a while, they were the only seat that I could comfortably sit on for an extended period of time. I tried out one of the snazzy new seats just behind the dugout and it was spectacularly painful to sit on.

The new seats lean back more, which means there's less leg room for the person behind i.e, everyone sitting in the new seats apart from on row 1. As a result, anyone taller than a midget has to constantly adjust how they sit throughout the match, or else they leave the ground with a thick groove at the top of their shins from the seat in front.

Safe standing is the way forwards Some people think that by standing they will bring back the atmosphere of the vic.that won’t happen,we used to cram in the boothen that won’t happen due to the Taylor report if we did introduce safe standing they will keep the capacity at the same level as it is now, basically standing with a seat.

But sitting down and singing is pretty much not possible. If anyone has tried belting out a song sitting down, you tend to jump up and down it.

There won't be new seats now because Gary Rowett has never been promoted as a manager.

As long as we fill the ground you won't be able to tell they're a pinkish colour anyway - good a reason as any to get it filled surely?

Haven’t read the whole thread haven’t got the time.
But for me, why not rip out the lower tear and replace with safe standing? Upper tier to be replaced with new seats?
And then call it the Boothen Paddock? 😊👍

My wife bought a new top from House of Fraser recently and now they're in financial difficulties. Just yet another example of my wife's mismanagement. I think you are missing the point. Like your wife, Stoke could go to other suppliers, starting the process last October when it became public that Stechert were in financial difficulties. They may not have been able to get identical seats though. We have not heard anything from the club as to why they are not replacing the seats, assuming they are not going to do so now.

Am I right in thinking ground improvements come under John Coates remit? He clearly drove such a hard bargain with our supplier that they went bump Richard Smith deals with infrastructure

Can't believe she didn't do a modicum of due diligence. Anyone with an ounce of business acumen knows that online is the future and these fly by night bricks and mortar operators like the one she used are doomed to failure. Hope she is able to buy the remaining quarter of the outfit though you do have to question her competence.

I’m at the back of the boothen so stand for the games the gap between the rows is massively reduced so it almost forces you to want to sit ☹️

We stand on the back row of the DPD (or whatever it's now called). Barked shins constantly. Mind you not had much opportunity to leap about over the last couple of years.

I'm about 6ft but if I do sit down my knees are in the back of the bloke in front. I don't know how some of the beanpoles manage to sit down for 45 minutes.

linkIN 2016 the bet365 Stadium seat replacement programme got underway with the replacement of 5,000 seats in the East Stand. The project continued last year when a further 15,000 seats were replaced in the North, East and South Stands, together with the addition of almost 2,000 new seats in the South East corner. It had been reported previously that the programme would be completed this summer when the remaining seats in the West Stand would also be replaced. However, last Autumn Stechert, the company the Club had used for all of our new seats and seat replacement since 2013, went into insolvency. This was unfortunate news for the company and their employees and brought to an end a family business of 60 years standing that had supplied stadium seats across the globe. It also, of course, gave us the problem of how we could conclude our project. The position is now becoming clearer as a successor company to Stechert has been formed and Richard Smith, Managing Director of Stoke City (Property) Limited, recently met with the owners of the business to discuss the way forward. Further meetings will be held in due course and an announcement will be made regarding the conclusion of the project later in the year.
