I got nicked at Leeds in the 80s, they had a bit of a firm waiting for us at the City Arms. Never heard of the City Arms. Know Leeds centre well but Where was that? Pub inside/joined onto railway station, 1988 it was anyway.

Oh yeah, put your house on it. Wouldn't surprise me if it's opening day. Lets hope for a repeat of Aug 9th 2003 if so😄one of best and hottest days following Stoke City Hope not mate. Got bloody sunstroke sat in the derby end right on the half way line about six rows back. I was burnt to a bloody crisp. Got back the pub after the game and I looked like Po from the teletubbies:D I’d take the win though ha ha

Ashton Gate is now a very nice stadium. Bristol is a great place to visit and very easy to get to by road or rail. apart from all the roadworks on the M6 and M5 at the moment, best to teleport

That game at Derby is the one where Jon Eustace absolutely bossed it. Great mentals that day.

Some good juicy away games coming up. The great thing next season is that two thirds of the games are within 80 Miles. Elland road, a weird lot up there! Here is an experience I had up there once, I think some on here will remember this match. It was 1974 I was 17, we were top of the league at the time, about 5000 Stokies travelled that day, just before Christmas if I remember right. On the way to the ground from the station we had mounted police escort, got pelted with half-enders which came flying over billboards onto the main road. The coppers did fuck all about it, more interested in keeping us in line. After the game in the mayhem outside we got split from the main group and ended up on the side roads, which was more of a demolition site than streets, being chased, after a while I found myself up an alley, there was 5 or 6 Leeds fans following, come to a dead end, by now I was pretty wound up so I remember thinking "fuck this, I've got to get to the station or I'm dead", I ran at them shouting I'll kill you fucking bastards, after taking the first one out and whacking another, the road was clear. I ran to a garage, where I waited for ten minutes and the manager took me to the station, the train was just about to pull off as I boarded. The carriage looked like a war zone medical bay, just a few bruises and a cut lip for me. When we got back we went to Hanley bus station to clean up, and then off to the Place in Bryan street, those were the days.
PS, We lost 3-1 by the way

Before the game we had a good 150 or so had been in Dewsbury before the game, seem to recall it always going off under a bridge near to the away end, cant ever recall it getting that bad at home to Leeds they nearly always on a sunday or 1pm kick offs only remember one time it proper went off 89 season they'd been at Shrewsbury I think when they stopped off at the Alsager Arms

Shilton played. Didn't seem like 5,000 Stoke below that southstand, distinctly remember being disappointed by the number for being top team. More like 1,000. Remember seeing some of the lads looking hurt entering train station after. I from the area and know a few of the real nutters from the early 80's and they are still bsrmy nowadays!

We had were vastly outnumbered but had a go then the filth turned up and nicked about 3 of each....🤔

If you start well start making plans to go the extra mile to get to some right dumps at obscure kick off times ! Factor in the fact some clubs 'fans' will see you as a notable scalp due to history and the championship could become a rough ride for some

And if I remember rightly Stoke came off second best on & off the field.

In those days, grounds like Leeds and Birmingham, which was the week before, were not healthy places to be a visible visiting fan. A couple of years earlier a group of 7 or 8 of us (14/15 yrs old) went up to Leeds on a Beresford's bus from Leek. I reckon there were about 20 people in total on the bus - including the driver. He dropped us outside the ground and said he would pick us up afterwards. Needless to say he was late. How easy do you reckon it is for a group of teenagers to look inconspicuous as they try not to catch the eye of menacing Leeds urchins looking to pick off the lame and sick in their monkey boots and Skinners? 2-0 I think. And the bus broke down in a blizzard over the Derbyshire peaks. Happy days.

I agree, my memory letting me down on the size of our support, it seemed more coming from the station along that dual carriageway. Lets hope for a better result next season, on and off the pitch.
