Or see if a young manager can connect with him and get his career back on track? hughes' laid back regime probably wasnt ideal for Berahino, i know he doesnt deserve a final chance but it may be worth our while to give him one. If he gets a couple of goals in pre season his confidence may lift and he could feature next year. Likewise Imbula and Bojan. I'm not saying put them in the team, but have a chat with them, let them show what they are WILLING to do (we know what they CAN do)and if they take the opportunity, voila, it's like a new signing. Perhaps we have changed from "The Stray Dogs Home" of the Tony Pulis Championship era to "The Last Chance Saloon" of the Gary Rowett Championship YEAR> I fail to see how you can juxtapose Berahino with Bojan, as if their problems are of a similar nature.

I will not argue that Berahino has been a major problem for the club since we signed him but we do get so much crap written about him when the authors of such dross have no real knowledge(factual) of what he has done, what he has said, and what his attitude is really like. I only know that you do not get to represent England without a lot of hard graft and not a small amount of skill. Can we stop this "he hasn't scored for nearly two years" because he just hasn't been playing hardly. Yes Stoke have a mess to sort this problem out because a rift has grown between club and player but I sincerely believe that Berahino can, if he wants to, change his career around. And let's hope Rowett is a manager who can achieve this turnaround. Four months out due to a self inflicted drugs ban numerous stories in the press before he even signed for us, that the sort of evidence that says the man is a total and utter loser, the reason he is not playing is because he is not good enough to play simple. A striker that has not scored in two years is not fit to be called a striker You condemn yourself there when you site what is written in the paper as viable evidence! Did you actually read what I wrote or can't you get past your anger and spittal.

Could we play this cute and offer berahino in exchange for cancellation of any sell on fee for Jack? Obviously they would have to actually want him. I wouldn't even take Bera on to come and cut my lawn, honestly who the hell would - Vale maybe or a lower league club in Turkey or something but can't see anyone better being remotely interested.

I harbour nothing but ill will toward Berahino. He wasn't there when the club needed him and he has no excuse for that. It's almost unforgivable.
He has a hell of lot to do to change my (and the majority of fans) sentiments towards him.
Though i doubt he even cares.

And let's hope Rowett is a manager who can achieve this turnaround. When you say "can we stop this he hasn't scored for nearly two years" bit.....have you ever sat back and wondered why he's hardly been playing?? Is it because W.B.A. and us had world class strikers who despite his ability he just couldn't replace? Nope Is it because he had serious, long term injuries that he's struggled to come back from? Nope Is it because he was being played out of position so couldn't adapt? Nope He hasn't played because 3 out of his last 3 managers didn't think he was up to standard and 2 of them said he wasn't even physically fit enough to be playing in the Premiership. Who's fault is that exactly??? Ok, so as a squad we weren't fit enough in general last year but given Lambert's opinion of Berahino, how unfit must he have been if he wasn't even fit enough for our bench and had to be demoted to the U23s and then the reserves??? Do you really think it's a coincidence that Pulis wouldn't play him, Hughes wouldn't and Lambert wouldn't? Why is it always someone else's fault? At what point is the player himself expected to take some responsibility, man up and as a Professional footballer actually start showing some professionalism??? He gets paid tens of thousands a week and the only absolute must that is rightly expected from the club and us as supporters (as we can't insist on him scoring or else as that's not realistic) is that he's actually fit enough to form part of the squad and is giving his best. It's a minimum requirement every Prem footballer (in fact every footballer full stop) should accept and he can't even be fucked to do that as he doesn't bloody well even get to training or games on time. If he wants rid of the tag of someone who hasn't scored for 2 years then it's up to HIM no one else to change that by first of all actually being able to compete for a place. Can you imagine how bloody insulting it must have been to the few players we had this season who WERE giving 100%, to see him turn up as and when he could be arsed in an unfit state then moan every day on instagram about how unfair his life was? He's supposed to a professional, grown man not an entitled, spoilt prick who can't even be fucked to turn up on time and has such a lack of respect for his fellow colleagues or fans of the club
P.S. As i said earlier, it isn't up to a manager to turn a player's career around. That's like saying it's up to AA to turn an alcoholic's life around or it's up to Weight Watchers to turn an obese person's life around. IT ISN'T!!!!! All they can do (same as a manager) is give advice, instruct and try to inspire. The reason why people have their lives turned around is because of the people THEMSELVES...because THEY show a bit of gumption, a bit of desire, graft like fuck and give every bit of determination and will power they have to succeed at what they're striving to do. Most importantly however, they admit and acknowledge it's THEIR responsibility as it's THEIR bloody life and it's up to THEM to change it. That goes for bloody everything in life! That's why people who turn their life around rightly get the plaudits and the respect they do, because THEY did the hard work themselves, the others (manager in this case) are there to support, help and reward hard graft, not just hand him a place when he can't be arsed to work as hard as everyone else. What does Berahino do constantly on social media (and i for some reason follow the dick so have seen it myself)? Sits back and blames everyone else and moans about how badly he's being treated by not being played. It's up to HIM to put that work and effort it, train bloody hard, work bloody hard and convince the manager he deserves a place. Then if he gets on the pitch, continue working bloody hard and he'll get the results he wants of scoring again. He needs to realise you EARN a place and an opportunity in any side, you don't just get one automatically because you signed a professional contract.
The lad needs to grow the fuck up and stop thinking the world owes him a favour or pretty soon, what could have been a great footballing career a few years back will fast turn into early retirement and having to be satisfied with non-league football as the whole country nowadays know what a lazy, unprofessional dick he can be

Saw this old quote from Hughes when I was looking at the latest Berahino news... "He will score goals before the end of the season, we are convinced of that - and even if he doesn't he is going to be in great shape for next year. We were always of the view that next season would be when he could really hit the ground running, with a full pre-season behind him. But we've been really pleased with what he has produced up to this point and he is continuing to progress. He will probably be disappointed when the season ends, because he's only just starting to get going."

He's a toxic, useless little shit whom had he actually been scoring might have avoided this relegation bollocks. Lambert got him fit and still saw it necessary to exclude him, then palm him off to the U23's. That should tell you all you need to know.

I’ve been thinking for some time (and god I hope i’m wrong) that Saido’s total lack of professionalism and application will not only result in him being finished but he will have so much money and time on his hands I wouldn’t be surprised to see him blow it all very quickly and either end up in the gutter or god forbid worse - he needs educating to protect him from himself but beyond all he needs to want to do it himself or he is totally buggered - not as a footballer but as a human being.

All 3 have mental/attitude issues and even though the specifics are different, the same general approach applies. Talk to the guys, determine if they are willing to do what it takes (whatever that may be, rehab, hypnosis, fitness training, whatever) and if so give every encouragement and assistance. If not, dress them up as clown and parade them around the field before every game.

I did not stick the boot in Shawcross at all! Actually read what I wrote about him. There is no room for sympathy in football! If planning for the future the questions have to be asked about players in a defence that has let so many goals in! There is no room for sympathy in football? How does that marry with your Berahino apologism? I believe, having seen Berahino since he was a young boy, that he is a talented striker. What has perhaps happened in this young man's life can happen to any young adult! Stoke have invested £13m in this young player and I'm not an advocat of just writing this money off. A new manager like Rowett might be able to resolve this sad saga and I have faith in my judgement. At no point have I ever disrespected Shawcross and I certainly haven't mentioned selling him. Rowett's job is to continually sign better players to move us forward. If we acquire better defenders than we already have I will have great hope for our future.

At no point have I denied that Berahino has had problems. He was at West Brom when he was found guilty of taking drugs. He has not been guilty of that since Stoke signed him. Do you honestly believe that Charlie Adam was fitter than Berahino? It didn't stop him from being selected. I do not think for one minute that Stoke will divulge the real reason for this Berahino debacle but having invested £13m I want the new manager and fans to give him a fresh start. I do read that he has been training this week which is a start.

However, until any of them actually start to prove they are willing to fit in, work hard, and deliver what's expected, they will remain (rightly in my opinion) outcasts. As a matter of interest, do you know how many minutes Berahino has PLAYED without scoring? How many penalties he has missed in this time? What the longest run of minutes played by any striker in the top flight has been? I think you are in for a rude surprise!

He's supposed to a professional, grown man not an entitled, spoilt prick who can't even be fucked to turn up on time and has such a lack of respect for his fellow colleagues or fans of the club P.S.
The lad needs to grow the fuck up and stop thinking the world owes him a favour or pretty soon, what could have been a great footballing career a few years back will fast turn into early retirement and having to be satisfied with non-league football as the whole country nowadays know what a lazy, unprofessional dick he can be
Absolutely spot on, excellent post, in fact this post should be the default opening post on every Be a Rhino thread. I'd like to see a rebuttal to that, over to you Silverdollar... Just a slight alteration, he was played out of position at WBA by TP, he stuck him on the left for a bit, not a massive deal, just saying.

I agree with much of what you say! It is very much on Berahino's shoulders for him to resurrect his career. What has happened at Stoke under Hughes's stewardship has not only been a catastrophe it has been a major sin and it has not just been Berahino. This season will go down as a fresh start for the club and I have great hope Rowett will come into the club and kick start our momentum upwards. I for one wishes for exciting new players to arrive at the club and drive us forward but I will also be willing for any player we have signed to be given a chance to become part of our ambition.

But he might smoke your grass

Offer him 50% of the balance of his contract and ship him out, if anyone will have him.

I agree, I want him to deliver the goods we have paid for and hope that we can turn around Berahino, Imbula and Bojan. Imbula didn't want to play for Stoke in the PL, what makes you think he'll be more enthusiastic playing in the Championship. Berahino is worse because he obviously doesn't want to play anywhere. You can't fault Bojan's enthusiasm but his career is over.
