Lambert may have left because he wants to bring in players and the board want, in general, academy players. With a few new additions. Think we had better wait and see. Why would Lawrence come out with £60m needed for promotion if that was already the plan. Nothing would need to be said. He was merely stating what he thinks is required to get us back where we belong. It’s what ex-footballers turned sports journalists do. They discuss football. Nothing more to see here.

Lambert was probably the most disastrous appointment for Stoke in recent history. No thanks from me. I'm sure he's been well rewarded for his ineptitude. As happy as I am by his sacking I'm also extremely apprehensive as to which British dinosaur will replace him.

NO to Moyes NO to Big Sam NO to Long face Mick NO to 🦖 returning YES to a young, hungry manager........E.g. Potter or Hurst would be my favourites. No to Potter. What does he know about the Championship? We can't afford his learning curve. We haven't got time, if we hope to go straight up. It has to be someone who has been there as a manager, & knows which players are available, & the right type, for us to sign to get us back up.

Feel for the bloke. Treated him badly. Spinks has had an absolute mare this last 48 hours, you think he'd be sheepishly sloping off on his holidays hoping that nobody had noticed that he'd gone. The sheer front of the man coming out with yet more bullshit is utterly embarrassing. How thick does he think people actually are? Yeah right, Martin ... Lambert was allowed to dictate the terms of the meeting and John made a unilateral decision on Lambert's future there and then? As I said, utterly embarrassing.

Megssy - I don't get itk info, however a partime, passing acquaintance does know TS quite well. My wife saw him about 4.30 today and he said it is all sorted with Moyes, just sorting the backroom staff out prior to announcements.
Have you heard the same?

If true, it looks like PL forced the issue today not Stoke City. I see his point not knowing what was going on and being on the Green Mile as it were. If so it actually means the club had done nothing about removing him and were dithering as per normal. Either way they come out of this with no credit at all. Shit manager, yes, but you don;t treat people like that. Now thy have no cheap option and will live or die my thier appointment.

To be honest we are rich enough to snatch any manager in the world other than the top 6 in England and the top two in Spain
