I know full well that this forum is well known to the club and representative of the Stoke fan base on the whole mostly.
IMO, the poll is sound. It's correct.

Unlikely that the board can be seeing anything we're not.
Only question is if they've got the humility to admit they've made the mistake.
A dreadful post-2011 record. No longer working with the 2 key members of staff he worked with at Norwich. He has had zero success without them.
One win in 14, with lead after lead chucked away.
Zero pulling power for prospective new players. Seen as yesterday's man and a failure. Players won't be attracted to that.
Been turned down by Hull (in favour of Nigel Adkins) weeks before turning up here in one of the most random top flight appointments ever.
Turning us into the lowest goalscorers in the division, from 10th under Hughes.
Having comically inept in-game management. Pejic's article was spot on and completely damns him.
Why would literally anyone want more of that?
Is such a landslide at all a surprise from people who want what's best for their club?
I'd suggest the hidden Lambert fans are much more likely to be non-existent Lambert fans? What signs of hope has he offered anyone?

Over 470 votes out of the Oatcake regular poster population is a very significant sample* and the result will strongly reflect the view of the Oatcake posters. What is questionable is how well the Oatcake population reflects the view of the general Stoke supporter population. I suspect Oatcake posters are more extreme in their views, but I would not think the poll is a "million miles away" from most fans views. * A sample does not have to be very large to be reasonably (<5%) accurate. UK Political opinion polls sample sizes are typically 2,000 to 3,000. ukpollingreport.co.uk/faq-samplingThere is no way that a sample on here is representive of the supporter base as a whole. The vast majority are fairly indifferent to this manager and wouldn't bother to respond. the people actually responding to this are very much a minority and would be representing the extremes on either side. Yes, but compare the almost total unity on here with, say, before TP left, or even last Summer. Many posters on here were against change at those points. The difference now is that there is barely anyone here who advocates keeping the status quo. Surely that is representative of a strong view against Lambert?

Can see it now. We somehow sneak a fluke win today and out will come “Paul has shown today what he is capable of and just what we need for next season etc”. They will then give him a longer contract and commit us to years in the wilderness.......idiots. Wake up Stoke!

Unfortunately the people who matter don't seem to be getting it,and that is baffling and worrying.

It is best for everyone that the Board announce Lambert is leaving on Radio Stoke immediately before today’s game. That will stop the inevitable demonstrations about Lambert and allow the club to go into the summer with some hope for the future.

I would vote no on that also, on the basis I would prefer to get in a progressive manager. but as a choice between Lambert and say Mad Mick I'd keep Lambert

That's a pretty damn arrogant statement to make, canvassed them all have you? Of course you haven't. And it's rather belittling too ... are you seriously suggesting that the majority of the supporters of a football club that has just been relegated, wouldn't want to express an opinion on whether the manager should stay or not? Don't talk nonsense.

Apart from forcing season ticket holders to an obligatory vote, there is no other way to gauge the genuine feeling of the fanbase than a respectably hugh volume of fans who grace a clubs message board.
even if you consider that some of the voters may not even be stoke fans or that you cannot prove or disprove that the sample contains all mindsets, it is still very valid and surely one the owners can't dismiss.

I've not voted in the poll and I've no intention of doing so. But here's my twopennyworth.
Lambert was brought in to save us from impending relegation. To date he's won one game and has failed miserably to do what he was brought in to do. Personally I don't dislike the bloke, but many supporters do. The reasons they do are many and different and range from him being a mumbler through to him being not a good tactician. Add on to that the fact that he's achieved almost nothing and the case against him is pretty much indefensible whether it's personal or not.
If Coates has read the result of the poll then he'd be absolutely stupid to continue to hire a man who has so many enemies among the support that nothing less than an amazing and successful next season can win them around.
I don't think we will do that and I reckon a complete rebuilding job is needed. That will require patience from the fans and Lambert is the last man to engender patience.
Having said all that then Coates has to take into account that giving in to the baying hounds is not always the best way to react. I recall that the baying hounds were against the reappointment of Pulis (I was one of them), and he eventually got us promoted. I also think the sacking of Hughes was part reaction to the negativity of supporters and had Coates held his nerve then Hughes would have got the few extra points we needed to survive. (But that's subjective and open to debate.)
But if he does sack Lambert, all his troubles will not be over. Employing managers is always a gamble and the next appointment will have to be someone who is football-wise, has especially broad shoulders given the volatile nature of our support, and be well respected in the football world, so much so that he can attract players who want to play more for him than an unfashionable club like us down in the 2nd tier.
If I was him I'd give the poll a cursory glance and then do my own thing based on years of experience of what most probably will work and what may not. And even then he may get it wrong. There are no guarantees in nogger unless you appoint one of the best managers in the world and provide them with unlimited funds.
And I certainly wouldn't appoint a manager based on a poll of proposed managers on The Oatcake.
OS.

emailed to him yesterday. I also contacted Spinksy who said he would look at it. Let's see if he thinks it's newsworthy. I also contacted Smudge to see if he would get some comment in his column for the sentinel....he can't be arsed to respond that's a shame. Can someone on Twitter post something so maybe Sandoz at radio stoke might give it a mention. Just think it needs to be out there in the wider media. Just for clarity your poll represents who? (1) Those that have chosen to vote on the Oatcake or (2) SCFC’s supporter base as a whole? As an additional question how many individual members voted in in relation to the total membership of the Oatcake. I’m simply trying to understand the strength of the outcome of the poll Many thanks in anticipation of a detailed simple simple answers Apologies if I’m thick Who knows? Who cares? Henceforth it shall be known as "the will of the people" (and by some margin!)

Do it first thing Monday morning once the season is officially done with and we can see where we finally finished.

It’s so indefensible it’s untrue, if I performed this badly in my job, they wouldn’t just sack me, they’d take me to court for lost funds.
