Just for clarity your poll represents who? (1) Those that have chosen to vote on the Oatcake or (2) SCFC’s supporter base as a whole? As an additional question how many individual members voted in in relation to the total membership of the Oatcake. I’m simply trying to understand the strength of the outcome of the poll Many thanks in anticipation of a detailed simple simple answers Apologies if I’m thick Its a sample it will be accurate to +/- so many percent. 92% is fairly indicative that the majority of Stoke fans don't want Lambert to stay however you try to twist it. Sample size is critical in calculation accuracy & confidence limits and even then, only if it’s a representative sample. If I decide to take a poll of who is the greatest team the world has ever seen, and I choose to stand outside the boothen end on a game day asking everyone who walks by, I may get a 10,000 person sample, but it would not be representative and I would not be surprised if Stoke featured in the top 3 teams. I’d suggest that posters on here are more “informed” (mis-informed more likely), and more vocal than most non-posters. Also, probably more people who hate him will vote than people who don’t mind him. Finally seeing 92% result before you vote often has the effect of not wanting to be an outsider so voting with the majority. I don’t disagree with the poll, just pointing out it is not statistically reliable.

What is questionable is how well the Oatcake population reflects the view of the general Stoke supporter population. I suspect Oatcake posters are more extreme in their views, but I would not think the poll is a "million miles away" from most fans views. * A sample does not have to be very large to be reasonably (<5%) accurate. The only significant voting population are those at the game. Everyone else is a self opinionated arsehole.
On this occasion as a self opinionated arsehole I'd like to wish everyone at the game all the best, enjoy the game, show some class in well deserved relegation and see you all next year in the battle for promotion.

I think it is fair to say the opinions expressed in this board are more extreme, always not just about Lambert, than the crowd as a whole. Otherwise there would be mass demos every season. Not really had one since the 7.,0 v Blues although the Hughes out stuff got pretty noisy by the end (although still pretty tame compared to what Mick Mills got for example). However I also think it's fair to say if a poll turns out a 90%+ result even allowing for more moderate views it's pretty damning and shouldn't be ignored. Perhaps the Sentinel and Radio Stoke should run polls too. Suspect it wouldn't be 99% but would still be a clear result.

Yet to hear any reasonable arguments as to why people who know how to use the internet wouldn’t be representative of the broader Stoke support

As much as I think Lambert should go, although initially against my better judgement I thought he would at least keep us up, I would rather a poll be among season ticket holders and more so those who go away to watch the lads through the good and bad times . How the fuck can the oatcake forum be the g3neral consensus when most of us never go to games,?,

Yet to hear any reasonable arguments as to why people who know how to use the internet wouldn’t be representative of the broader Stoke support Because if they were it would be carnage at the ground at least once a month. It's definitely more extreme than the general view. However that's not to say right now that the general view isn't Lambert Out.

In fact in a yes/no poll being “extreme” is completely irrelevant anyway

It may have included Lambert, but it wasn't about him. The poll was about him. 92% is pretty damning. Views on here are as far as they are wide. There isn't a single thread where everyone agrees. Shaq - great player, best we've seen. No he's not, he's shit, he's nothing on Hudson and everything in between. As infinitum every player, manager, coach, physio, possible manager, possible manager etc etc.....................................m.. To include a thread about voluntarily donating money to a partially fucked oatcake boat!! Everyone voices there opinion on here come what may. There is no reason to believe people have not voiced an opinion here, either way. As mentioned 92% is pretty bloody damning.

I also contacted Smudge to see if he would get some comment in his column for the sentinel....he can't be arsed to respond that's a shame. Can someone on Twitter post something so maybe Sandoz at radio stoke might give it a mention. Just think it needs to be out there in the wider media. In the week that my mother died I’m sorry that I couldn’t be arsed with your football related grievance. Can I ask how you tried to contact me? I’ve not seen any email and I don’t have any missed calls.

I suspect the poll is statistically sound.
What the board have to consider in actually making a decision is this:
1.It's timing. A poll on virtually the day of your relegation after 10 years is unlikely to have a happy ending even for a man who was only there for 4 months of that time
2.Change now and the new manager will have no learnings about the current squad yet will need to move at lightning speed to completely overhaul the squad in a world cup summer with An early deadline day and have it ready to fly by the end of July. It's a big ask.
Guess what I am saying is that it is their job to make the best decision not just be popular at a moment in time.
I would make a change but I am only saying why I think it needs at least some proper thought. They will still be stung by dismissing Hughes in January with no adequate alternative.
They may think or example 'can Lambert do it if we insist he has a proper team of backroom staff like any sensible manager would not just that potty Glaswegian bloke and Rooster?'

The vast majority are fairly indifferent to this manager and wouldn't bother to respond. the people actually responding to this are very much a minority and would be representing the extremes on either side.

Swansea have made their call. Even though Carvalhal had a harder set of games than Lambert, getting results against big team, he recouped 1.33 points per game! If Lambert has done the same we’d be safe now. However, he managed an utterly abysmally, shameful 0.71 points per game! Yet, outwardly we seem to be dithering?! If Swansea have had him for the full season they would be sat on 49 points. He hasn’t taken them down! Lambert has taken us down, convincingly!
