No speculation or rumours from the Sentinel they seem to be avoiding the topic.

I have had enough with ‘established’ managers like Moyes, Allardyce, Hughes, etc.. I would really like Stoke to go for a younger manager who is showing his mettle in the lower leagues or abroad. Graham Potter? Gary Rowett? The Cowley brothers? Appointing David Wagner worked for Huddersfield.
But it won’t happen. Coates prefers older British managers. I strongly suspect Lambert is staying.

I don't really think any of them would be interested in all honesty. At an absolute push, the only three that might be interested, would be Everton, Leicester and Watford but I'd be surprised if any of those happened. In light of that, might a long-term deal, money to spend, his relationship with Scholes, his respect for old school, non trigger-happy Coates and the chance to move back to where he lived while at Preston/Everton/Man Utd do the trick? You would think so but (as we've said) it depends on how big his ego is and whether he considers himself to be to good to be a Championship manager again? You've got to think that it would be all but done, except for that issue.

As you say, I think you could count them on the fingers of one hand (and the hand in question would probably have lost 2 or 3 fingers in an accident!) And there won't be much happening for him over the summer. As with Big Sam, he does come with a stench and not many will take him for that reason. Even West Ham have been so sniffy about him, and that would be the case nearly everywhere If I was him, if Stoke offered me a long-term deal, I'd snap their hands off.

We'd be fools not to take him, honestly. It'll be ugly, and some of our favourite players like Bojan may be out on their arses, but I'd feel confident he would get us up within two seasons. He's like a better Steve Bruce, but he actually likes to play young players.
There's also the added bonus of him being able to compete at Premier League level; Bruce can't.

I just wish we showed some balls as a club. I wish we would try something different instead of jumping on the manager merry go round. Tired old has beens, all playing the same boring football and who generally last a season before being sacked and moving to their next job where they bore the fans to death.
Think long term, we are down so its a perfect opportunity for someone to come in with new ideas and take on a project of rebuilding, changing our style and reputation. An up and coming manager, not some shit out mercenary.

To be honest i would look at someone like Professor Luze.
He specialises in broken families so that will help the Coates', his ability with long distance healing powers surely will help any injuries in the coming season. He also offers guidance and protection, something we need to stop leaking goals.
Give him a decent budget and he will get us up.

No.
Falls into the category of - proven to be mediocre - and no longer has any drive or passion. His bank account allows him to no longer give a shit and say things like, "I am only going to manage a top 6 club". How about you take a team and manage them to BECOME a top 6 club. Why does everything have to be handed on a plate to these multi-millionaires?
Failed miserably at Sunderland and Sociadad and you could argue West Ham as well.
Of course Coatsey will cream his pants if he can get him.

If I have managed in the premier league at clubs like Man Utd, Everton, Sunderland and West Ham and I don't have millions in the bank* I am a worse financial manager than I am a football manager. Perhaps you would feel more comfortable if I said net worth* (see above). Pedantic fool.... Just stick to US college sports son. Let me make my main point clear. Mediocre manager with more fails on his record than successes. Got it ?

It surprises me so many are keen on him. He does have a better pedigree than Lambert but it really seems much of a muchness to me. Guys calling for Potter or QSF I can kinda see where they are coming from but Moyes I just don't get the love at all.

In comparison to Lambert, yes, but not really my first choice. I think this would be most people's response tbh! x3

Will this be an endless cycle where West Ham and Everton will appoint managers who get them into relegation trouble and look for someone to save them? What's the betting Pulis will be Everton or West Ham manager within the next 5 years?
I thought Moyes was harshly treated while at Man Utd, but his negativity at Sunderland put me off him.

I think attracting Moyes to the club is more realistic than Big Sam but I don't think we'd be able to convince him. He'd be an improvement on Lambert though so I'd take him if he was willing to come.

I am not his biggest fan but realistically virtually anyone going in straight after Fergie was on a loser and by the time he arrived at Sunderland I think even Pep would have struggled. He has done OK at West Ham including getting the best out of you know who and I think would be a good choice if our aim is to get back asap. Whether he will come is another matter and like Big Sam it may be they want to take a break and wait until the next Premier League club comes looking for them after a poor start.
