Moyes might just be a possibility for us after all we are now a tier 2 club. Not sure Moyes would get a Prem gig anytime soon. He did ok at Wham but only just add to that his car crash at Sunderland and you think that his comment about wanting a top prem team is delusional. Not surprising as he has spent time st one of the most delusional clubs imaginable. He could reboot his career taking Stoke up. What's his alternative. I hope we are on this quickly.

So why is there no stats up,about his man utd managerial efforts? Played 51 , won 29 drew 9 lost 15. His best win ratio in his career 52%. Just not good enough for those Manure twats even though Fergie left him an ageing squad. H Maybe they saw something that the stats don’t show, Such as there lowest finish since 1989-90

They are both the type of manager we need to sort the shambles out that we've found ourselves in. I'd back them both to give us a decent chance to bring us back up. Who is your man? It’s an interesting but assumption on here that we could have this choice , More likely to be megson or Pearson on past form but let’s see . It all about money this next week or so is going to tell us a lot. The manager appointment will either make or break us and will show where our future lies.

I want the board to support Lambert with funds. Yes, he is not the best but he's not the reason why we got relegated. Talk all you like about the results but he had no chance. I don't care what any Tom Dick and Harry says - we were destined for relegation with or without him. Our problems are so deep rooted God couldn't have done anything for us. We have a safe point to remove Lambert if he's not delivering. I'll be honest. Whoever is the manager, I'll give my cock for a mid table position next season. Thanks, Coates.

Both were left depleted squads. One was given time, the other wasn't. H

Anyone who follows the excellent captain fishpaste from Sunderland (occasional poster on this board) will know just how much he drained the heart and soul out of Sunderland. He certainly isn’t anywhere near the top of my list.

While I'd rather have Big Sam if we were involved in a relegation scrap, I think Moyes is the man for a long-term project like getting us back up again. He did fantastically well at Everton given time there, but his record's been a bit worrying since. Man Utd was the impossible job when he took that on- ageing squad, sky-high expectations, no-one would have pulled that off straight after Fergie retired. The Sunderland job was another case of him being onto a loser from the start. They were in a mess when he took over, he had no money to spend and always looked like they were going to struggle.
Don't know much about his time at Sociedad, but he did a reasonable job at West Ham in steering them away from trouble.
I wouldn't be doing cartwheels at his appointment, but I think we could do a lot worse.

The relevance is that everybody wants to sprout his managerial achievements at Everton but not about his achievements at other clubs, such as man utd and west ham. Just not sure that he is the right choice for Stoke and more to the point I don’t think he will even consider it, why would he? He led Preston to promotion from League One in his second full season (they reached the play-offs in his first season) and to the Championship play off final in his third season before taking the Everton job shortly afterwards. That's all relevant to where we are now. If West Brom or Swansea announced that he was their new manager, we would be worried, very worried. His profile would instantly mean that he would be at the top, or very near to the top for attracting players to the club and the media would instantly make that team one of the favourites for promotion, as it was clear they meant business. Whether he would come here or not, is a separate argument. Personally I think it is unlikely and if you yourself don't think he would even consider it, then surely you can see what a coup it would be, if we actually did manage to persuade him?

Why is QSF still getting mentioned? He turned us down in Jan so why the hell would he now change his mind and think it's a good idea?!
It's going to be interesting... all 3 clubs that have gone down looking for managers plus some much larger Prem sides with vacancies (although likely already having their men lined up).... yet some people seem to think we're just entitled to our first pick no questions asked.
Based on the size of the rebuild and restructuring required here, we're probably not such an attractive option to a few of the candidates - some might like and be better suited to that kind of challenge.

Reading the Guardian article he left and was not sacked.Wonder if he has another job lined up. Sullivan, not Gold, is the man who holds the power at West Ham. He was the one on the other end of the phone when Moyes said he no longer had any interest in extending his contract and he is the one promising that the club will make a “high-calibre” appointment by the end of next week. After two turbulent seasons at the London Stadium, the pressure has gone up another level.

Moyes would be a very good choice IMO. But the big question is that would he come and how long he wants to keep his options open?

Ideally I'd like a fresh start with someone like Cook but in our current situation maybe only someone like Moyes or Allardyce would have the profile and confidence to make the sort of demands on Coates regarding transfer funds, squad rebuilding and back room staff that are needed? So yes. Plus I've always had a soft spot for Moyes dating back to the time when he was sent off against us when managing Everton and instead of going up to sit with the board he jumped over the wall and sat with the Stoke fans behind the dug out.

www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5742483/Stoke-hold-crunch-talks-Paul-Lambert-Friday.htmlBoth members of the Coates family and chief executive Tony Scholes met on Wednesday to evaluate options, including another move for David Moyes, who was approached after Mark Hughes was dismissed. Gary Rowett also came under consideration this season and another move for the Derby manager would represent a continuation of Stoke's desire to maintain British leadership. But John Coates is said to be the influential voice now and he may prefer a candidate with a continental background should Lambert leave. The Scot could yet stay on in the Championship, however.

The only thing that gives me hope is that John now has the power and that the majority of this article suggests that they have seeked alternative management. It isn't weighted very much towards him staying apart from a slightly deluded statement from Peter to say an adequate job has been done. Sorry Mr Coates but there is absolutely nothing adequate about relegation and the fact that their was I'll discipline ultimately lies at the door of the board.
