Well, Moyes has certainly got confidence in his ability. I'd be staggered if a Prem team came in for him, let alone one challenging for Europe? But it certainly doesn't sound like he'd rush in for us any time soon. Must have been us who went in for him again in January though?

He won't drop to the Championship, and neither will Allardyce when he comes into the market. We're seriously in McCarthy territory here with this ancient mindset at board level.

Moyes is utterly delusional though, isn't he? It's as though he thinks it's 2013 again. But suppose as long as he believes he's that attractive, it's irrelevant! The best he could hope for is a firefighting call in the winter from a Brighton/Huddersfield. If I was him, I'd kind of prefer working for Coates if he'd back me. But his confidence seems bulletproof. As you know, I'd prefer Big Mick to Lambo (!) - but he'd be some way onto my third page of A4 in terms of candidates!

Would you drop into the Championship, or wait for the November phone call? If things go wrong here, which they absolutely could, then 2-3 seasons in the Championship and you are not getting a job in the PL for a long time. It moves on so quickly. If he could build himself a reputation as a red Adair type as a minimum, then he's at least got a job for life at the top table.

Working for a non trigger-happy chairman who'd back you (even in the Champo) would be fairly attractive though. A chance to build at a club who probably would end up embracing his type of manager and not look down their nose at you (as even West Ham do). It's not as if money's an issue for him as he walked away from Man Utd with a £7m cheque. But you're probably right

Is Alex Neill worth a shout? Got Norwich promoted in some style and just missed out on the play offs with Preston, again playing on the front foot, with a net spend of something like £2m?

Uncle Peter is dithering yet again, putting off a decision to the last possible moment, or maybe not at all. If no decision about Lambert is made on monday, I can see a mediocre season next year in the Championship with a midtable finish under Lambert and a long-term stay in the second tier, with diminishing interest and lower crowds until another relegation is threatened. Meanwhile Swansea will appoint Graham Potter and back in the Premier before you know it.

Surely stoke would have inquired to his price to come here. No cost to pay him out and can offer a business plan to get us back up.
Still expect qsf to be in the picture aswell.

I was saying that to my old man earlier. I reckon based on what I've read we've enquired at least in one of the articles it stated that Moyes had other options on the table should west ham get rid and I firmly believe we are one of those options. QSF I'm not sure about.

I am only guessing but I would think moyes out of respect for West ham declined the job and has now thrown it up to test the West ham hand.i think mentioning top 8 is a way of pressuring West ham into wanting him and giving him a contract, not going to happen and it'll be a thanks but bye bye from them who will throw ridiculously money to push on managerially. Meanwhile I'm hoping moyes will accept us as he will see himself as heroic if he achieves a good top 6 with us.

I would hire Potter! He is young, enthusiastic, and a true stokie at heart. I think it take him time. However I feel he could build a great team at stoke! And get us back in the prem and establish us as a solid prem team. Maybe even nick a cup along the way. Plus he be a breath of fresh air both for us and for English league football!

He'd get the backing of the coates family and the loyalty and time which is fading away in the modern game and the freedom to structure the club the way he wants I'm sure he'd take a year in the championship given he has the funds to back him.

Are there currently any betting odds on Lambert being removed?

We'll find out soon enough.
