Is Chris Coleman an option? We can only hope not. I'd prefer David Coleman. ONE nil !! 😁

If Lambert goes (i don't think he will) then the next appointment will be absolutely crucial, get it wrong and have a bad start to next season and we could be in in for a long few years in the championship, or worse! I don't think this is the time for the likes of Graham Potter or even QSF, we need a solid appointment, Big Sam is the man, he's the type of manager coates would have no compunction getting behind, he's basically a slightly more exotic Tony Pulis in a fat suit Everton are 8th in the league and their fans are moaning their bags off about him despite hovering over relegation before he took over, i know its all about expectations but we'd kill to be finishing 8th right now! when newcastle sacked him i believe they were also 8th in the premiership, they got relegated after sacking him, love or hate him the bloke knows what he's doing. If Allardyce was available and prepared to come, doubtful Coates would look elsewhere. And I can't see him being there next season unless they want riots. Just a bit sceptical whether he'll need the hassle of another job at a club like ours when the option of retiring to a Portuguese beach is available? He won't exactly want to retire on the back of being hounded out at everton I feel stoke could be his last project - promotion then establish us as premier league side he'd obviously get the backing of the board and would be allowed to run the club the way he wants it. He'd also be able to attract the players needed too as the they'd know we mean business of getting back to the premier league. If I was coates I'd do whatever it takes to get him here.

None of the above, I'd throw money at Rowett. Not that he's realistic, but then not many on the poll are.

None of the above, I'd throw money at Rowett. Not that he's realistic, but then not many on the poll are. I tried to include all the semi-realistic ones in the top 20 in the betting for the West Brom job (the only ones I didn't include were the likes of Darren Moore, Michael Appleton, Gordon Strachan and Gary Megson) - as well as the top few in the betting for the Ipswich job, just to give a snapshot of what seems to be the Championship manager market - and hopefully we would be at the top end of that? And then chucked in 2 or 3 wild cards. With Rowett, if we can't attract him with the prospect of half a season to stay in the Premier League, got to think there's 0% chance with a 3-year £1m-a-year deal in his pocket when he's at a similar-sized club in our league who could be a Prem club themselves in 2 or 3 weeks? His stock isn't what it was in January though, is it? For the same reason, sadly I do think we've missed the Jokanovic boat. Fulham will be an attractive job if they go up or not - and would've thought hr'd be in the running for Prem jobs very soon regardless. He really was there for the taking in January though.

It would be a risk for sure, but Rory would bring something other candidates wouldn't - genuine love for the club. I think Eddie Howe has been so successful at Bournemouth for that reason. He genuinely loves the club from being a player there for so long. When he was at Burnley, a team he didn't have a personal connection to, he wasn't successful.

Very true.
It must have cost Lambert a small fortune to bribe all those singing his name after the match just so the family could hear it.
Surely someone on the top floor will have the brass bollox to tell PC the truth that, once again, is so obviously staring them in the face.
Very worrying times. Relegation was bad enough but this feels like an instant points deduction on top.

I'm going full on for Slaven Bilic, now we've been relegated. There are other options but I think he is our man.
We need to shake off our Premiership snobbery pretty fast and realise that the Championship is a dirty, ugly, hell hole of a league that nobody wants to play in. It's neither here nor there.
We can't just say "let's stick a younger man in charge and let him build" because we have to strike whilst the iron is hot, we have to use this extra money, we have to use the momentum of being a freshly relegated Premier League club to attract players, we have to do it all NOW - not in 3 years - there's statistics and research that says club's playing in the Championship that receive money from a Premier League relegation are twice as likely to get promoted. Let's ride on that wave, shall we? Please!
We know how to win in that league but we are coming off the back of a relegation and a winless streak, which means first-things-first, let's start winning again. Bilic knows how to win football matches, he knows how to motivate players to be winners too. Tactically he's sound and he has a reputation which will attract good players for that league. It's actually a no-brainer for our situation, imo.
Lambert should genuinely get the chop asap, we can't afford to be plodding again at the start of the next season. It's just not a viable option.
I will keep posting this.

That said, I voted for Potter on the poll as one of my 4. (Bilic, Allardyce, Potter, Lampard - half experience, half not, just because that about sums up me)

I'd hazard a guess that winning games usually happens when you manage clubs that are regularly top 3 in their country like Besiktas, Lokomotiv Moscow and Hajduk Split.

His win rate at West Ham was 37.8% - very good. "He left the team with a record of 1.33 points per Premier League game, which is the best of any previous West Ham manager." Yes, he's won games abroad. There is surely an argument that those leagues are at least on par with the English Championship though? Which only furthers the point about him being able to win.

In the Premier League that is great for any club outside of the top 6. Winning is the single most important thing in football mate. Did you know we've just been relegated? Guess what... we haven't been winning. I don't care about defensive stats, not in the Championship. The aim is to outscore your opponents and win games. Slaven Bilic will get Stoke City rocking again. He's off his head as well, which is great. He'll fit alright.

Slaven Bilic in his first season was very good, he had them in the top 6 mate, so I dont think it is that a fantastic record. Conceding that many goals though for a team that had a wonderful season is pretty shocking. Mark Hughes had decent stats until his last season and a half at the club. There is something very common between both in that they both had a star player in their successful season (Payet and Arnautovic) and both failed miserably when they didn't replace them adequately.

A Year plus back room staff plus transfer budget plus control . , all doable given our resources but do we have the appetite or more relevantly the ceo to pull off such a deal , be worth thinking about a creative approach around board room seat and value creation as he’s a man of considerable ego and fed up of what he sees as weak owners . hed by 100% my choice but I’ve said that for months . Sam is the man. Agreed..

He would have to be backed in the transfer market (as would anyone), but I think he's very likely to get us back up, and quite quickly. I voted for him, Cook, Flores and Mccarthy, but wouldn't be averse to Potter either. However, the more I think about it, the more I reckon Allardyce ticks all the boxes.

How can finishing in the top 6 (I think it was 7th) not be a good thing? - "West Ham records broken, including the highest number of points with 62, the highest number of goals in a season with 65, a positive goal difference for the first time in the Premier League with +14" Mark Hughes nearly got key to the city with 54 points, 48 goals scored and a +3 GD. There are question marks about the latter part of his West Ham time but I have the opinion that West Ham is a wrecked club anyway, I don't even know how it functions the way it does. Very toxic and muddled. Either way I look at it, Bilic would be a bit of a coup for the Championship imo.
