No, I don't think they could. Disagree #good thread mind The squad is a shambles, I'm not defending Lambert by any means but Diouf has had chances and others and they messed it up, the manager can't do anything about that when there's no one else he could use thats any better.

Forget the subs, they were the usual mind boggling turds that this manager steals his living by. The absolute state of that team and the formation was a sacking offence in its own right. What would you have done differently, Pugs? I'm not defending Lambert or even attempting to but the fact that Crystal Palace brought on a striker worth 35M, whilst we brought on an 18 year old kid who isn't even League One standard surely tells the bigger story, regardless of the semantics of the benefits of Glen Johnson or not? This article by Phil McNulty is very hard hitting but it is very much the head of the hammer right on the head of the nail. We've regressed and we've regressed long before Lambert and for a very good reason. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44017358

On dutch tv before the game they talked about how our lack of goals is due to the midfield being too far behind the attack. We have been even more of a shambles under lambert.

I understand where you are coming from and I agree with you. We will probably have a very difficult season ahead of us so we must ensure we have a capable manager in place for that. My point was that we shouldn't give other teams a head start by keeping Lambert and hope he starts to deliver. I've seen enough of his football to understand that he never will. We'll have to hit the ground running from the start, otherwise we might find us in the middle of the relegation fight again. Rightly or wrongly I think he will be kept and given a chance, he inherited QPR 2 and an utterly rancid club from top to bottom. We need a character who will work his nads off in the pre-season and install a framework to build on and at least get 11 players out at the start of next season who are fit and ready and actually interested in playing for the club. For that I cant think of a British manager better placed than the 1 we currently have, he knows the squad better than anybody and knows exactly(hopefully) what we need in the pre-season. The alternative is another road traffic accident of a British manager chosen by the Coates family who comes in and needs to take time before he changes things around, which will more than likely mean another battle against the drop.
Horses for causes maybe. Personally I would not be sad to see him go, but I know the next manager chosen by the Coates family will be an even bigger disaster than the current one and I think Lambert is at least capable of keeping us up next year and building some good foundations You would hope that the debacle of the last two seasons would sway Coates away from this absurd British manager obsession, paticularly when you also consider that WBA have been relegated with 3 different British managers. So 2 out of the 3 bottom places have been filled with Jurassic British managers. The top 6 are all managed by those strange foreign folk.

It would have been better if he'd not made any subs. Useless fucker messed up, again. If things are not working you change. The fact that he only used two subs means he did not try hard enough today. That’s disgraceful

Managers who are "old" and British, and have failed at other clubs aren't the way forward. Coates acts like a chicken when it comes to apoiting managers.

The recruitment problem at our club runs very deep. It doesn't stop at players.

We're relegated so you can only look forward now.
On that basis, it's my opinion that Lambert will not get us promoted. He is not our man, he is not good enough.
For someone who has won the Champions League, I find it fascinating that he doesn't see the game tbh. The Champions League must have been really wank that year?

Simplest bit is this: “Slowly but surely, Stoke City's squad has been allowed to fall into disrepair and it must now be rebuilt in the unforgiving environment of the Championship. And it is only likely to get more difficult, with England goalkeeper Jack Butland and the skilful Shaqiri unlikely to be pursuing their career in that division. The devastated Lambert said after relegation was confirmed: "It has got to be rebuilt and it will come back strong because of the support it has got behind it. "The football club should mirror the supporters because it has got incredible support."” Strange Lambert is not saying “we”...

I think the managerial picking process goes something like this: Advertise the job in the press and jocentre+ Any twat can apply so long as they have a British Passport and can prove they were born here Come for an interview and if Uncle Peter likes what you have to say and you have done the homework on the company you are about to work for you have got the job, no previous successes needed, quite the contrary you can be an utter feck up with no experience or credentials whatsoever, so long as Peter likes what you have to say and you score a high mark at the interview you have the job. Foreigners and people with a great track record need not apply, we will only take people with an extremely suspect portfolio - see salary

We were third from bottom before Lambert took over, and only on goal difference too. We are now bottom of the table and have scored 8 goals in 14 games.
He is not up to the task.
Any chump can offer the world in a job interview. Especially when you know you've as good as got the gig.

Any chump can offer the world in a job interview. Especially when you know you've as good as got the gig. It's a tough one though isn't it. Our forward line this year from the first game, assuming we stuck with the 3-1 formation, would have been ideally a combination of: Shaq/Ramadan--Bojan/Shaq/Ireland/Allen--Jese/Choupo/Ramadan Berahino/Diouf/Choupo/Crouch Plus any much needed additions. However: Berahino fucked it. Jese fucked it. Ireland got injured. Hughes fucked Bojan and Imbula off forcing Allen to Def Mid. Choupo flattered to deceive then got injured. Meaning for a lot of Lambert's games we had a a front four available for selection of: Shaq - tick, no problems. Ramadan - young and as green as grass Crouch - an ageing 4th choice striker Diouf - a hard working, likeable, but goal shy 3rd choice. AND ABSOLUTELY NO FUCKING ADDITIONS. What a fucking garbage front 4...awful...totally fucking awful. I can see why Lambert played the formation and team he did and and I can see why they only scored 8 goals. I can see clearly his plan was to defend, defend, defend, nick a goal and hold on. It half worked against West Ham, Leicester, Southampton, Liverpool, Palace, Bournemouth and Burnley. It failed against Arsensl but shit we were close to a point. Brighton we should have won. Man City were brilliant. Everton we had Twatkinson. I have some great sympathy for Lambert but on the flip side his team selections was been woeful, especially in must win games.

We absolutely shit when he arrived and he has taken us further down the table and produced an even worse points and win ratio.
Only on Planet Coates does that keep you in a job.
Lambert, Scholes and Cartwright should be gone on Monday.

One thing that had begun to grate in the last few weeks is PL's obsession with saying that if the team had been playing like this all season then he wouldn't be here and we wouldn't be in the position we're in. Looking at our win ratio since January i rather doubt it. And for that alone my faith in him for next season is plummeting.

We tried to sign a foreign manager, but said foreign manager is a known pragmatist, who when last in the Uk visibly shit himself when his team got into the remotest of trouble. Before that he won the UEFA Europa League and reached the Copa del Rey final. We clearly don't need these types of foreigners when we have the likes of Lambert and Hughes at our disposal. Your points are valid, he was without doubt the best candidate out of the ones we were linked to but you are missing the point i'm making. The point i'm making is the profile of managers our board target. His football isn't in line with a lot of foreign coaches and he's regarded on the continent as a 'safe pair of hands'. His football at Watford was dull and that was with two strikers like Deeney and Ighalo - two strikers that would walk into our current side with their eyes closed. What would he have done here with Crouch and Diouf, with a board of directors that claim they "tried hard" but failed to bring in another striker? What style of football would he have played here with the club deep in the mire when he shit himself at Watford with them in midtable, but starting to drop? There is a serious issue at this club with the type of managers our owners go for and until that changes we will be on this vicious cycle with the name in the dugout changing, but the guts of the argument remaining the same. People need to elevate the argument out of the long grass and elevate it quickly to where the real problems lie, else this club could be damaged for a long, long time. The 'likes' of Lambert are the symptom of the problem and certainly not the cause. The people upstairs need a summer of soul searching and it needs to happen fast. There needs to be a change in direction and fast else there is only one place we are going, and that is following Sunderland back to League One.

Paul Lamberts appointment was a disaster from start to finish. He was never the man to keep us up. His substitutions leave a lot to be desired. He needs to go now. I fear that if he stays we will do the same as Sunderland? He is clueless

He has to go for me, in the summer any new manager will have to bring in 10-12 players if Lambert does not have us in the play off positions at least by christmas he would have to be sacked, any new manager would want to spend in January and if they make a bad start the following season and repeat again and see Sunderland for how that ultimately works out.
New manager in should get at least 18 months as he wont have the baggage from being relegated.
