Yeah but that’s going off on a tangent from my original point. Wimmer was a replacement for our main target, Maguire. You disagree, but I’m adamant that he would have been an outstanding signing, and one that, given our options in that position at the time, thoroughly justified. It’s the choice of player that was crap, not the position itself. We didn't need another left sided defender once we knew Indi was joining and we knew that all along. Totally unnecessary. Strange how you say that given the ludicrously over the top reaction you had when it appeared that the deal had broken down and he was off to Palace.

Haven't we got a 40% drop inbuilt into every contract? 60% of 80k Euros is around 48k. Assuming his new contract is at that level, is it a simple case of the contract drop, Hanover covering 40k and we are using the 500k of the 1.5M loan fee to cover the other 8k? Is it quite conceivable that the article author hasn't factored that in? Is it conceivable that the article author has got it completely wrong and Hanover are covering everything at the new contract level? Very sound math's mate. But who knows? However, if for the next 12 months, we aren't having to pay any of Kevin Wimmer's wages, then ... happy days! I think its more likely that we're paying the difference and its just an iffy translation. Edit: it seems onlooker thought pretty much the same, should have read his post more carefully

So they're paying all his wages.
At least that's something....

Not counting my chickens just yet, no doubt he'll play shit for them all season and leave us stuck with him!

Not counting my chickens just yet, no doubt he'll play shit for them all season and leave us stuck with him! At least we are £3m better off than we thought we were exposed to - for starters. Also, we appear to have lifted the bulk, if not all, of his wages off our bill.

This actually sounds a good deal and far, far better than I thought we'd get. I thought we'd be stuck with him hoovering up the parachute payments for years, at least this gives us a minimum of a year off and possibly a way out of this disaster completely. Just Berahino and Imbula to go now.
