More negativity, but also realistic honesty. Coates won't spend the money required and needed. Coates will probably love to bring in some good old fashioned BRITish working class heroes, like he and Pulis did ten years ago. The fact that such players will cost a tiny fraction of what Wimmer, Imbula et al are costing us now will make him even happier.

The key is keeping Shawcross, Indi, Bauer and Badou here for next season. They will give us a platform to build a solid team around. Recruitment will be absolutely critical and a defensive midfielder, two wingers and quality striker (probably two) are essential. We will no doubt be hamstrung by the high earning wasters on our books but with the income from Butland, Shaq and Allen, that’s approximately 75m in the coffers. We will need to spend half of that if we are to challenge for promotion. Just can't see Bruno staying. Any hopes he might have of getting back into the Dutch national team will disappear if he stays outside the PL for the next five years. Similarly any hopes Bauer and Badou, both of the fringes on their national teams, have of fully establishing themselves will not work if they're not playing at the top level.

I’m expecting Shaqiri and Butland to be out of the door but I’m hoping some of the other better players we have realise that they’re partly responsible for the mess we find ourselves in and stay with us in the Championship. There’s no doubt we’ve got some deadwood at the club that need moving on or replacing but I think with a few decent additions we’ve got a good chance of coming straight back up. I certainly expect Coates to throw some money at it. I like your idea mate but none of them will give a fuck about the mess they have created. No one has a continence any more in football. All about the ££££ Does that make them incontinent? 😎

The squad is going to be almost unrecognisable from what we have now come September 1st. That said, players that we would currently class as poor/average like Choupo, Diouf, and Ramadan would be very good players in the Championship.

Yes it is. If our squad, exactly as is, was in the Championship, under proper management, we'd be doing well.

Don’t forget our left winger when we got promoted was Richard Cresswell.

Well we can discuss who might stay and who might go and individual players and positions until the cows come home.
Watching the likes of Diouf and Ramadan trying to score last night was a painful experience.
I said 11 years ago the only way we would get promoted was if we could get a full season out of Ricardo Fuller. And the rest is history.
We need to conjure up someone who can unlock defences and score goals at that level on a consistent basis otherwise we have no chance.

If we scout and recruit correctly and keep most of our better players we can come straight back up. Big ifs there obviously (especially when you consider how appalling our recruiting his been recently) but there are players out there who would improve us, and who would see us as an attractive proposition at Championship level.

I think most people are aware this squad isn't good enough for top 6 in the championship, and it certainly won't be when we lose Jack, Shaq and Allen. Hopefully the board recognise this and invest in the squad, we can only hope that they do. But, if the last 18 months are anything to go buy, we will buy useless players and struggle in the Championship for years to come. Why do people assume that Butland Shaq and Allen will be going?. Shaq, possibly if he has a good world cup. Butland and Allen haven't exactly set the Prem alight have they?. Pickford will be the number one and players like Allen are two a penny. Can't honestly see the offers flooding in!.

More negativity, but also realistic honesty. Coates won't spend the money required and needed. With Allen, Shaqiri, (Badou) Indi, Bauer (maybe) Zouma, Butland Going, that leaves us again with such an unbalanced, slow, old, outdated squad. Even at 1-0 up, and at 0-0 it was absolutely dire. We never looked like we were interested in winning. We were set up to lose. This is simply not good enough. Some of you may think i wanted to lose tonight, 'to be proven right' i can assure you i sat at home after the game and sat in silence facing the wall for a long time after. Relegation although knowing in my head it was happening, in my heart i still had hope. Last night was tough to swallow. I think we can hold on to some of the players with season long loans to Premier League Teams that way if we go straight back up they will return back and we will be prepared for the Premier league.

Cresswell would and did score more in the championship than Ramadan ever would , see his toddlers kick in the box last night Are you really that desperate to criticise everything about the club to the point where you think Richard Cresswell is a better player than Ramadan? Dicky was good for a goal occasionally but he was a shockingly poor left winger at Championship level. It’s pure speculation on your part to say Ramadan wouldn’t be able to score goals for us next season.

I often struggled with the meaning of 'irony' We then sign Badou who initially looked like a dog chasing a balloon but once relegation looks certain then becomes a passable impression of Kante. It really only could happen at Stoke.

A defence of BMI, Shawcross, Pieters and Zouma should not be getting relegated, their performance last night showed this. Last night highlighted the real problem - summer recruitment was beyond bad. If we had signed Bauer in the summer and a left-sided full back we would not be in this position. If we had spent £30 million on a replacement for Arnautovic we would not be in this position either, regardless of who the manager is. If we stopped dicking about with that 5 at the back bollocks I don’t think we’d be in as much a mess as we are in now. Keeping a set back 4 is huge, and we just haven’t done that at all.

I’m a bit of a pessimist but crikey we ain’t that bad can’t believe there’s so many tipping us for a double relegation, We’ll be OK with the right signings we should be pushing for the playoffs at least. We have more finances than most of the division we just need to be sensible how we invest.

We need proper solid battlers get out of the championship like last time. Take Newcastle as an example, one of Rafas first signings was Ciaran Clark, nothing special but will stick his head in when it matters
That’s type of player you need get back up

Neither are premier league quality and I believe the clubs would sell them for the right price. They would score enough goals for us in the Championship. This. As soon as the season is over bids should go in for these pair. Sadly though we’ll piss about up until the end of the transfer window and end up with James Vaughan on loan
