If the rest of the pack had played all of their games already, and we had the games in hand to overtake them, I still wouldn't back us.

After 22 games we were 4 points ahead of Swansea, we are now 6 points behind. After 22 games we were 1 point behind Bournemouth, we are now 11 points behind, they have played 1 game more. After 22 games we were 2 points behind West Ham, we are now 7 points behind, they have played 1 game less. After 22 games we were 2 points behind Crystal Palace, we are now 7 points behind, they have played 1 game more. After 22 games we were 2 points behind Newcastle, we are now 11 points behind, they have played 1 game less. After 22 games we were 3 points behind Brighton, we are now 8 points behind. After 22 games we were 4 points behind Huddersfield, we are now 8 points behind, they have played 1 game more. In the last 5 games under Mark Hughes we got 4 points. In the last 5 games under Paul Lambert we have got 1 point. Posters can talk of improved performances under the new manager, but the stark reality is that we are in a much worse position now than we were when Hughes left. It seems to me that these stats show that we either should have sacked Hughes last summer, or reviewed his position at the end of this season, changing manager half way through a season seems to have been the worst option, unless of course there is a dramatic turn round in the last few games. He should have gone in May no two ways about it. We then are in a position to attract a half decent manager with a whole pre season and a transfer window to lay down his marker. Unfortunately Coates has his head in the sand and waits until January when we are in the thick of a relegation battle and no one wants to know.. except the desperate and unemployed. This is all on Coates. I'm still amazed they kept faith with him at the end of last season after getting his prize striker and not getting a peep out of him whilst at the other end the goals were flying in , then they let him waste money on Wimmer who is possibly worse than Berahino and give a two year 40k per week contract to a bloke whose legs had gone , he added flair to the spine of pulis team but once that spine was lost he didnt have a clue

About as much chance of Twatkinson refin' the last match against Swansea and giving us "ALL" the decisions that keep us up, including sending off a Swansea player and giving us two penalties!!!
Championship here we come!!!

Tomorrow night is shit or bust. We need 3 wins. Plus Brighton and one other team need to finish on less than 36 points (This will probably happen) Lambert should have all our players positively salivating at the possibility of the Great Escape. A win tomorrow will see our odds for survival improve dramatically. This could be the stuff of legends. Come on Stoke. IT CAN BE DONE. One step at a time. WHU 1 STOKE 2

We will leapfrog either Swansea or Huddersfield by scoring a 92nd minute winner against the former on the last day of the season.
100% guaranteed.

We've gone. 3 wins won't be enough. 4 wins in our last 24 games, and we're somehow going to win 4 from our next 5? The run of games v Watford, Bournemouth, Brighton, Leicester and Southampton was our chance - we picked up 4pts when we needed 9.

It is still possible. Swansea will go down, 1 of Southampton or Stoke City will escape it.

If we play Campbell up front for the last games, he could end up our highest scorer this season. Its something to cling to, however unlikely. Maybe the whole point of this season is to use more players from the Academy, to prove its value, and send us to the top of the championship next May. Back to my medication..................

Need to be brave Monday and go for it If we don't pick up 3 points then we're gone 100% You've got to go 2 up top now these last few games Crouch and Diouf to start. Campbell as the option when Diouf does his usual cows are and a banjo job. I think my team would be Butland Bauer Shawcross Zouma Pieters Shaq Allen Badou Ramadan Crouch Diouf Given what's available. Blimey, you've changed your tune! We were definitely staying up not so long ago

I've not given up hope yet. We've just gone through a string of fixtures that were never really going to produce any points. Tottenham, Arsenal and Man City. In each of those games I saw improvement and thought that if we can play like this against those lower teams coming up, we could be ok.
The results yesterday have made the problem more difficult, but until we get stuck in against West Ham, Burnley, Swansea and Palace, who knows what can happen? A point against Liverpool isn't impossible.
If Diouf, Shaq and A N Other can squeak a goal or two each, who knows? We don't know how results around us will go - it went wrong yesterday - but who knows?
So. It's not looking very promising, but it really isn't over yet.

I'd like to think that we will, but common sense tells me, we're screwed. I'll still be here next season though.
